“Yeah, Jacob, But we might want to come back after we find Hannah. They claim to have information on the cure,” Livia replied, jumping to her feet and pulling out her hatchet.
"You trust them?" He looked to the guards standing right next to them, although Jacob didn't care if they heard.
(so i sorta added more to Jacob's backstory that will kinda explain his anger towards the camp, his family was sick and he tried to get them into the shelter back at his home but they refused them)
"Not necessarily, but it's worth checking everything out first. We can't pass up an opportunity like this. What if they have what we need, Jacob? We may not ever find a cure."
Livia placed her hands on her hips and walked towards the exit.
"Now come on, let's see if she's okay out there."
Just dig. Just dig. Danial needs a grave. Just dig.
"Fine, return the girl, get what we want, and we are gone. For good."
Hualing Danial's body up and dragging him outside, Peanut watches from the edge of the grave as Hannah drops him in and starts shoveling dirt back in.
Livia broke out in a run, passing Jacob.
"Hannah!" she called out.
She kept looking, both for Hannah and keeping an eye out for third stage Affected. In the distance, Livia saw a figure that looked faintly human. Maybe it was Hannah. Or an Affected. She drew closer with utmost caution.
Jacob steadied his gun on the target, ready to shoot if it came to be an Affected.
(i never really clarified this in the title thing but i chose Affected not Infected because I like to think about the effect of the disease and how they are signs of it and also the effect they have on other people's lives, like having to shoot a loved one, instead of the diagnoses)
(Yeah, I like that. It's unique. And it kind of distinguishes it from a zombie apocalypse type deal.)
Livia slowed her pace a bit to conserve her energy, in case she needed to start running away from whatever she saw in the distance. She kept casting a glance around, doing her best to make sure no Affected had their sights set on her.
"How do we even know we aren't looking for a dead person?" Jacob eyes his surrounding.
"She can't have gone far. If we have no signs of her soon, we will just have to assume she will return eventually out of necessity or that she's dead. Either way, then things will be entirely out of our hands," Livia called back, "However, if we find her alive and Affected, then it might be best to kill her, or use her for observation."
Placing a dead rose from the vase in the kitchen on the newly made grave, Hannah kneeled down, Peanut next to her. "I don't know how much longer I'll be alive." Hannah says softly, "But I am not mad at you for biting me. If anything, I wasn't careful enough. You were the best brother I could have ever hoped to have. You went to my cheerleading practices, my gymnastics competitions, my horseback riding competitions, even when mom and dad sometimes couldn't You helped me learn how to mercy, and taught me how to read. And I'll always thank you for that. You were so kind, and I love you." A few tears drip onto the dirt and Peanut snuggles up to her comfortingly.
"Observation? So this is not a rescue mission? This is to capture an experiment."
"No, no… of course I don't plan on her being Affected, but if she is, that could be the best thing to come out of it. Alternately, we'd just kill her, because mercy. Seems like a waste though. However, I hope she's alright. The guards seemed to think she was a real asset to finding the cure. I wonder why."
Livia kept walking, not looking back at Jacob.
Without realizing it, Hannah and Peanut passed out from exhaustion on Danial's grave, and Hannah dreamed of living a normal life with him and Peanut.
(Question, is the disease only passed on by mosquitoes, or by body fluids and stuff too?)
Livia saw the human figure slump to the ground.
"That's her, alright," Livia concluded, "Come on Jacob, let's see what the damage is."
She pressed on until she was standing over Hannah and her cat.
"She ran. Now we are trying to bring her back to her torturers?" Jacob tried to focus on the abandoned neighborhood around them, all the places that could be harboring an Affected.
(Hannah got bit by her affected brother, so yeah, BODILY FLUUUUUUIDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
"I'm not so sure she ran away… I think she may have ran towards something. She didn't seem to hate it there. I could be completely wrong, of course. However, if you had a chance to save mankind, even if it meant hurting one person, wouldn't you? She's clearly seen some things, right?"
Livia bent down to check on Hannah.
"Well, in the meantime, we should at least do what we can to help her. She'll probably then want to help us in return."
(well the disease has only been passed by mosquitoes because no one has been bitten by an Affected without being well eaten by an Affected. That is why I think that the cure will be in Hannah's bone marrow, which was the result Fawn didn't want to tell the guards, because as much as they want will definitely kill Hannah. The disease is living inside her in a way where her body has been more of accepting it than fighting it, and mosquito bites always trigger that fighting response in your body. So the cure is actually made from inserting the disease into an UnAffected in a way that their body will accept and than taking the bone marrow from that person and inserting that into an Affected, does that make sense, I don't know if that could even be scientific I just thought of it XD)
(Why would the cure be in Livia?)
(That makes sense. Like either that, existence of an inactive form of the disease, or someone having an immunity. I think it depends whether it's a viral or bacterial thing though. I'm not super familiar with pathology.)
(But why would the cure be in Livia, what happened to Livia?)
(looking up pathology in dictionary yeah no me neither)
