The boy seemed confused. He looked up at Joan, unsure how to react. Wasn't it supposed to be bad to take candy from strangers? Surely he wouldn't be kidnapped when he was with someone, right?

Seeing his hesitation, she unwrapped one and ate it. "No poison or anything, see? They've got cherry in them too, and cherries are pretty dang good in my opinion."
He hesitantly took one and tried it. "T-thank you, ma'am." He bowed again. the people seemed even more confused now. A polite little angel boy somehow tied up with the daughter of the devil himself. He had to admit, it did seem strange, but it wasn't Joan's fault who her parents were. He still liked her
"No problem. I think I have other flavors in here too if you want some. What do you like best, mint or strawberry?" Pluto was glad the younger angel was accepting the candy. He seemed like he needed someone to be nice to him, and if no one else would she would be happy to make him feel a little less out of place
"Oh! I-I'm fine, ma'am, you really don't have to!" He flushed a bit, shy again at the strangers kindness. Joan seemed to be bitterly looking at the other angel, but she said nothing
Pluto saw Joan and flashed her a look, eyes going black and gold for a split second. She turned to the boy again and let herself smile a little. "Take any you want. My roommate buys chocolate for me all the time, and I have more in my truck."
Nathaniel seemed hesitant again. He always felt bad taking things from people, even if they were offered. He was depriving them of some resource. But he decided to take one of the strawberry chocolates to try, bowing again in thanks.
She sighed. "Come on man, it's not that big of a deal. You don't have to bow or anything." She pulled an entire pack of strawberry chocolates out of her jacket. "Here, these are yours now."
Joan was suspicious of the Angel, "What's going on? Who are you?" Nash was her responnsibilty, and some stuck up Angel wasn't going to kidnap him in 'Good intentions'.
Nathaniel's face flushed and he seemed to freeze a bit, unsure what to do. How is one supposed to react when a random stranger gives you a box of candy. He took the box awkwardly, resisting the urge to bow again. He had been raised to be very polite in the presence of others. "Er, thank you, ma'am. I-I appreciate the gift."
"Are you going to give him more," Joan softened her voice for Nash. "I still need to get downtown."
"I'll give him more if he wants more, thank you. If you were paying attention you would have seen that he was upset, and I gave him some candy to make him feel better." Her wings started to bristle, but she tampered them down when she realized what she was doing. "Look, you two seemed to be lost so I showed up to help. Not to hurt anyone. Not my style."
Nathaniel stood quietly, hoping another argument wouldn't break out like the one between Joan and Will earlier. He looked up at Joan as though waiting for instruction. He had always been taught to follow orders, not to give them yourself. Unless you were captain of the guard. Then you had the authority
Joan turned to Nash, "You were upset? Were you worried about your wing?" Joan turned back to the Angel, "I know where I'm going, but, tell me your name. As a precaution." Joan was impatient but willing to wait for an answer.
"Pluto as far as you're concerned. Look, he obviously can't fly and I've got a truck about a mile from here. One of us can carry him and fly to it, and then we can go to wherever you need to be. That sound good?"
Nathaniel looked away, trying not to think too much about his wings. Obviously it wouldn't be difficult to carry him, he didn't weigh much, but he'd rather it didn't have to come to that
"His wing is healing. And it's better to walk. Sorry that I don't trust a stranger, but, Nash?" Joan turns him to face her, "Do you want to ride?"
He looked up. "Um, i-it's up to you, ma- Joan! Sorry! It's second nature." It would be difficult to stop calling her ma'am, but at least Pluto didn't seem to mind. She hadn't asked him not to, but she didn't want him to bow.
"No, it isn't. But it's ok if you don't want to." Joan reached out to touch his wing. "If he says no, I don't want you to pressure him," Joan glared at Pluto. "Got it?"
Pluto rolled her eyes. "Kid, you gotta start thinking for yourself a little. Being stuck down here isn't the most fun, and any number of things could happen if you don't start trying to fend for yourself a little."
"He'll be up there with the rest of you in a few days. Ok? He just needs to heal and learn."Joan was beginning to get pissed.
Nathaniel looked conflicted, not wanting to disappoint either person. There was no way to choose both options. He trembled slightly, feeling pressured and anxious
Joan noticed Nash's behavor, "I'm fine with each, you get to decide."
(BTW @Robin_Jones that is NOT how 13 year olds act.)
Pluto frowned. "Sorry, the rest of us? Buddy I'm as stuck down here as you." She noticed Nathaniel getting a bit upset again. "Hey, you alright kid?"
(That's how I react but I have social anxiety ;u;. I never want to make decisions because there never seems to be a good compromise)
