He followed her. "Alright. But if it stinks of rot in there, good luck. Most fast food stuff isn't going to be any good by now. Although…I'd kill for a McDonald's burger. I'm not even joking. It's been six years since I've had one." He chuckled softly. Six years, because of being on the alien ship.

@gracehustle

She shrugged, chuckling lightly, “If we had enough time to gather the ingredients and make burgers and they were still good, I’d probably dance around the room in happiness, broken leg or not.” Delia looked around the outside of the shop and thought about what they might have inside. Sometimes there were the huge cans of bulk ingredients, those things didn’t go bad ever, if they found one of those they’d be good on food for weeks.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jay laughed softly. "Mm." He replied, keeping an eye out for anyone or anything that could be dangerous. He was quiet, keeping pace with her. He was letting her fo the looking, as she seemed to know what she was looking for, whereas he did not.

@gracehustle

The door to the fast food place was broken off its hinges, with glass scattering the floor. Delia walked right over it, the glass crunching under her feet as she made her way to where the kitchens were and eventually back to what looked like a pantry fit to feed a hundred hungry people. She slipped her rifle off her shoulder and held it carefully in her hand, propping one of her crutches next to the door as she grabbed the rusted handle and yanked the door open. Her eyes swept the area and she stepped inside, rifle still in hand, “Look for any unopened cans or anything, dented is fine, as long as it’s still sealed.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

He nodded, pistol in hand. "Okay." He started searching around, finding some cans. He checked each one, creating a pile of the still sealed ones. Working as quickly as possible, he kept an eye and an ear out for anyone coming.

@gracehustle

Delia worked quickly and quietly, her gun slung back over her shoulder so she had a free hand. For the most part everything she found was either open or expired by a year, until she found a sealed bag of rice sitting on a shelf. She checked to make sure there were no holes before tugging it down, wincing at the loud noise it made when it hit the ground. “Just rice, not an intruder,” She called to Jay, leaving the bag where it was since she couldn’t carry it to the cans.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jay jumped, then nodded. "Okay." He said. At the sound of the bag, he had automatically reached for his gun. He shook his head slightly. A lot of the food was spoiled or expired which meant there were only some cans that were actually good.

@gracehustle

She looked around the rest of the room before sighing and making her way back to them, “The rest of the room is cleaned out. So, it looks like we have a possibly good bag of rice, and cans of something? Let’s see what they are..” Crouching down on her good leg, she picked up one of the cans and studied the label, “This one looks like beans? I don’t think they’re green beans, but this definitely says beans.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jay came over. "The rice is a bit big to transport easily, though." He pointed out. He looked at the can. "No matter what type of beans it is, it's still food." He said, picking up another can and reading it over. "Hmm. I can't read this one."

@gracehustle

“We should try to take as many of the cans with us as we can, and then eat everything else here,” She said. That was what she normally did anyway, stuffing her pack as full as she could with cans and then eating the rest. It was a good way to keep herself from overeating when she found food too. “But we have to save a little room in our bags for anything else we might find.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jay nodded, and started putting cans in his backpack. "So we eat the rice here, then? Or what?" He asked. The cans clanked softly as he put more in. Wish I had a bigger backpack… He thought for a moment. His backpack was admittedly not as big as he could have wished, though thankfully it wasn't tiny, either.

@gracehustle

She nodded, a happy look crossing her face when she imagined the meal they could make, “As much as we can, though we’ll need a pot or something and some water to cook it. Maybe there’s some soup in one of hers cans and we can pour it on top.” Picking up the last few cans, she studied the label for something to eat with the rice before setting them in her bag. Her bag was decently big, and it was able to withstand the elements, which she liked. She had gotten it at an old outdoors store, bartering with an older man who had wanted some of the supplies she had grabbed.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jay smiled. "Mhm." He grinned, and held up a can. "Chili? I have no idea why they have chili in a fast food place, but…chili and rice is pretty good." He set the can to the side, and kept putting others in his bag. He wrapped up some in his coat to save space.

@gracehustle

“Chili and rice, interesting,” She said, smiling as she dropped the last can in her bag and stood back up. The bag of rice was definitely too big for her to pick up so she just opened a corner of it instead, scooping out a handful and looking at it to make sure there was noting living in it, “The rice is good, now we just have to get a pan and a fire. We can use the water in my canteens with the rice too.” Walking back to her bag, she crouched back down and dig into her bag until she found her water.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jay smiled. "Want me to.find a pot?" He asked, then shrugged. "I'll find one while you do the water." He left to search the fast food place, humming under his breath. He can back after a few minutes with a pot. "This big enough?" He asked, setting it down in front of her and dusting his hands off. "Want me to start a fire, too?"

@gracehustle

She nodded, already trying to find something to open the can of chili, “The pot is definitely big enough and yes please, a fire would be awesome.” Pulling the pot over to her, she filled it with almost all the water from both of her canteens before guessing about how much rice to scoop into the water.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He nodded, and gathered up wood, humming again. Stacking most of the wood into a pile, he took some of it and created the beginning of a fire. He pulled out a flint and steel lighter and started working to light the fire with it.

@gracehustle

It was definitely enough rice for them to easily have as much as they wanted to and she smiled, excited to finally have a good cooked meal. She sat down and sighed, pulling the can of chili over again as she looked around for something to open it with.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jay blew on the fire, and the flames licked higher, casting flickering light around the room. Smoke puffed up, and he stood, opening the window to allow the smoke to escape.

@gracehustle

“Do you happen to have a knife I can borrow quick?” She asked, nodding in thanks for the fire and scooting over to it. All they needed now was something to either hang the pot and can from or to set them on. Delia pushes the pot next to the fire so it could start cooking as he opened a window.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He nodded, and pulled out his knife. "Here." He handed it to her with a small smile. He kept stoking the fire, coaxing it bigger and hotter. It crackled and sparked merrily, sending sparks up into the air.

@gracehustle

“Thanks,” Was her response as she poked a hole halfway around the top of the can and pulled back the top. The smell of good food was already in the air even as she just opened the chili and handed his knife back to him. “Now we just need a grate or something to set both of these on.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

He looked around, putting the knife away. "Let me check the kitchen area." He stood, walking into the kitchen section and searching around for a bit. After a few minutes, he came back with a large sized grate, and set it down with a smile. "Found this." He said. "It's the smallest one I could find."

@gracehustle

She smiled, pulling it over to the fire and setting up up so the flames were just licking the bottom of the grate, “It’ll work, and it’s big enough that if we catch something we can cook it as well.” With the pot and can I top of the grate, she relaxed back on her elbows, “Now, we wait. I don’t dare leave this alone for any amount of time but you can go explore if you want.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Jay nodded. "I'm going to poke around and try to find some soap, deodorant, etcetera." He smiled slightly. "Anything you want me to keep an eye out for for you?" He asked, putting his backpack down. He tucked his gun and knife in his pockets, just in case.
