"What do you mean??" Kale asked. "It's not like you've done anything wrong…right?"
"What do you mean??" Kale asked. "It's not like you've done anything wrong…right?"
"no. But they will put me in a special needs place I bet because of my blindness. And I just consider that a prison."
"Blind people aren't sent to special places, they're treated just like everybody else. No one wants to feel singled out just because they are a little bit disadvantaged compared to others, so why would they be treated like they had some sort of disease that no one wanted to be around? From what I remember, blind people can get dogs that are specially trained to act as their eyes, which I don't think is a bad thing."
"yeah. I guess." Jay replied. "I just sometimes wish I could escape everything."
"Everything meaning life?" Kale frowned.
"I'm not sure." Jay replied quietly.
"I see." Kale sighed. "I can't pretend to know how you're feeling, but you know I will always be around if you ever need to talk about that. Even if you want nothing do to with me after tonight, I'll be there. Hell, even if we end up on opposite sides of the world, just shout and I'll come running."
"it probably won't be that easy after all of this." Jay said and sat up.
"What do you mean?"
"if we are all separated. It will be hard to contact eachother."
"Well then we just won't be separated." Kale paused, thinking they were coming across as forceful. "I mean if you don't want to be separate that is, although I think you might want space from me." They laughed nervously.
"you and Jordan are my friends." Jay replied.
"Glad to hear that." Kale smiled weakly. "Let's just hope Jordan wants to be stuck with the two of us."
"yeah. Do you want to sit down?" Jay asked.
"I'm alright standing, thank you though." Kale chuckled until another bloody cough interrupted. "Man I thought I'd got all of it out my system." They glanced at Jay. "Tell me again why you're friends with an idiot like me?"
"i think that you should get that cough checked out." Jay said avoiding the question.
"I will if you answer the question."
"I'm friends with you before you are great and always help me. Now go get yourself help."
Jordan was evaced to a near hospital. He was wide awake and staring at everything. He had never seen so much stuff! And it could save lives. His head seemed to be on a swivel as he was wheeled through the hospital
"I feel as though you're hiding something but fine." Kale wandered off to find a medic and explained that they were coughing blood due to chemicals in the water. It wasn't serious since coughing up blood isn't always uncommon, but Kale was told that they would have to be given antibiotics for it. "See, nothing i should be concerned about." Kale told Jay.
"alright. Just don't cough out your lungs." He said jokingly.
"I'm not making any promises." Kale laughed, then they fell silent. "So, where do we go from here?"
"probably wgere ever we are all sent." Jay said not really knowing.
"What if we ran? Make our own way in life without any adult shadowing over us." Kale became lost in thought. "I could get a job or something, you could go into education if you wanted, we pick up Jordan from the hospital and… and…." they trailed off, not really knowing what to think next.
"I'm not sure. Do we even know how to live alone. We messed up even looking for Jordan." Jay said and sighed.
