They stayed silent, staring at the floor, trying to stop themselves from thinking again.

"I… Heard you singing 'Fire on Fire' earlier." Jordan says awkwardly, "You're pretty good at singing."
Kale slowly turned to look at Jordan, unaware of their face turning red. "I didn't realise I was singing.. And I uhm.. I don't think I'm that great to be honest.. uhm.. Thanks?"
"Nah. When you get you should join a choir or something." Jordan was pokerfaced but his insides seemed to shrivel up.
Kale's heart thumped wildly, they hadn't spoken about music since before their parents died, and their hands started shaking. "Oh no, I'm not sure music is the path I want to take…" They looked Jordan in the eyes. "You have bad memories when it comes to singing, don't you."
Jordan starts slightly then looks down, "yeah. A bit. It's what I remember right before… Uhm… i can hear my mother singing to me before the gunshots."
"I see.." They smiled nervously. "Now what good would it be if I followed the path of music and one of my friends couldn't enjoy it?"
"Because I won't be there."
"Yes you will."
Jordan sighs with a sad smile, "We aren't having this conversation again. K? If you're being optimistic then I guess. I'll work on my PTSD and wave at you from the nosebleeds."
"The nosebleeds?" Kale frowned. 'What an odd detail..'
"Er. Pit." Jordan crosses his arms, rolling his eyes
"…..Saying I'm confused is an understatement." Kale smiled brightly and started to laugh.
Jordan smiles and starts to laugh as well, "Ya know. The part of a stage where fans are up right at the edge of the stage."
"Oh that! Sorry, I was still questioning the nosebleed part." Their laugh softened into a chuckle.
"Oh yeah! Well I just remember someone calling it a nosebleed and it stuck." He smiles. He had a slightly lopsided mouth
Tears pricked Kale's eyes when they started laughing harder again, they covered their mouth with their arm but it did little to muffle the laughter. "I'm gonna start calling the pit a 'nosebleed' now, that's precious."
Jordan was slightly taken a back. He had hardly heard laughter before. He smiles, "Why are you laughing so hard?"
"Because we went from you saying you're going to die, to talking about pits called nosebleeds. Where is the connection there?" Kale wiped their tears, chuckling softly.
Jordan laughs loudly at that. Immediately his throat started to hurt.
"When was the last time you drank something, you're sounding a little hoarse."
"Eh… I've had a few sips of water in the past 24 hours." He shrugs, "I also haven't laughed at all."
Jay stood in his room bored because he had no idea what was going on and was going to leave them alone for awhile.
"You should find more things to laugh at, laughing is good for you." Kale shook their head, rolling their eyes. "And for heaven's sake get a drink."
