@Natasha
Zoey nodded. "I'm on it." She smiled to herself, because Lenny had just seen the surface of her agility.
Zoey nodded. "I'm on it." She smiled to herself, because Lenny had just seen the surface of her agility.
"So, we're lost here, you're hurt, and we don't know how to get back? Cliffs are literally trying to kill us now, and animals are getting corrupted by some gray blobs?"
"We aren't lost, there are dozens of ways back. But the rest of that, yes."
"Okay." Robin looked around the cave for a couple of the creatures and gathered them together, explaining the situation and gesturing towards Lenny so they knew which one she was.
The creatures yipped in mumbled, scurrying around, ordering Zoey to go get things. One pulled out a small glass bottle, and handed it to Lenny. She took it, drank it, and thanked them. "Is there any way you guys have to figure out whats going on?" she asked the creatures, the pain in her back subsiding. They yipped some more, and she grinned. "The memory pool! Your right!"
"The what now?" Levi asked, still observing the cave creatures.
Zoey let one of the little creatures lead her away to get the thigs that they would need, going deeper into the cave.
Robin seemed confused, but he wasn't in any immediate danger that he knew of, so he was relatively calm for the timebeing.
"The memory pool. It can access any memories of any creature of light here."
"So how will that help us? Do we have to lead the corrupted creatures to the pool?"
"No. Now that their corrupted they can't come in here. But we can access their last memories before they turned."
He nodded, starting to understand a little bit. I'll figure it out when we do it. Levi thought to himself.
"And how exactly does that help us?"
"We can figure out what escaped Hydra island."
Oh…that makes sense Levi thought, nodding.
"And do what about it? I really don't think we're powerful enough to fight whatever's doing this."
"Maybe. Or maybe there's more going on then you think." Lenny pointed out, following one of the creatures deeper into the cave.
Levi followed Lenny silently. He observed the cave, looking for signs of anything moving.
Zoey finally finished gathering the stuff and met the others at the memory pool. "Guys, we should start bringing the un-corrupted animals in here."
"Okay." Robin walked just outside the cave and whistled, drawing some animals towards him. He herded them inside, telling them to go find the others by the memory pool.
Lenny took a deep breath. "Show us the memories of the first corrupted creature, please." she asked. The pool shimmered and changed, showing them an image of a little mouse. It had little antlers like a deer, and was colored like one too. It was scurrying around on the seashore, probably looking for decorative shells. Suddenly, a shadow emerged from the water. But it was only a shadow. It crawled up the sand behind the mouse, disgusting goop in its wake. It passed over the mouses body, and the mouse bent backwards, screeching. Then the pool returned to normal.
Levi looked around a the group. "That was…creepy."
Robin was still outside the cave, finding more animals and herding them inside. A steady stream of animals who weren't corrupted was filling the space around the memory pool.
Lenny shuddered. "It was an Umbra. One of the worst monsters you could every find. And it's escaped."
He shivered once more. "So I a guess we have to go find this thing, right?" Levi crossed his fingers, hoping that they wouldn't.
