"Well, I've been climbing since I was 5…hope yu can keep up," she laughed.
"Well, I've been climbing since I was 5…hope yu can keep up," she laughed.
"Hopefully," Davis thought for a moment, "You know, we should probably only have one person go, just in case they get caught."
"Hm that would be smart. And since I'm the most experienced…" her voice trailed off.
"I'll go," Davis interrupted, "Because you're the most experienced, you should stay behind so it'll be easier to rescue me if I do get captured."
"I….What if we split up, then you get captured, and I can't save you. It would be my fault," as always she jumped to the worst case scenario. "I…I don't…"
"It's ok, we'll eventually find each other," Davis brushed a strand of hair out of Saffi's face.
"You promise," she said. A tear rolled down her cheek.
(Promise?*
"Of course, I'm not one to lie," Davis smiled at her and wiped her tear away.
"Okay well…don't do anything dumb," she said. She hugged him tightly.
Davis squeezed her back, "Well, I can't promise that," he chuckled.
"Me neither," she smiled finally. "Let's get this party started."
"So, the plan is I climb to the ceiling and hypothetically find the secret entrance?" Davis asked, "I shouldn't bring the map with me, y'know, just in case."
She nodded. "The entrance should be 27.34 ft to the right of the middle of the building…" She suddenly felt a weight in her pocket. A key. She pulled it out and handed it to him. "I have a feeling this will be important."
"Yeah," he accepted the key, "I'm going to try and memorize the map so you can keep it in case I get caught."
"Oh, you haven't memorized it already?" She looked down. "Once you go into the door go to the left and pass 2 doors. There's a staircase."
"Geez! Photographic memory?" Davis asked, "Lucky!"
"Then walk down to the main floor, don't be seen, walk to if you go to your right, first door on your left is an exit to the side of the building. If you get there…we can both go inside." Her voice wavered.
"You mean when," Davis corrected, "Anyway, I'd better keep looking at this," he pulled out the map and started to memorize the path he needed to take.
"Yah…yah you should." She wrapped her arms around her chest, trying to calm herself. She whispered to herself.
"You ok?" Davis looked up briefly from the map.
"Yah…why wouldn't I be," she replied. She looked away and rubbed her eyes.
"Because you don't look ok, you seem nervous, and I can understand why."
(Back)
Saffi nodded. "I just don't want you getting hurt," she explained.
"I can fend for myself, don't worry," Davis smiled.
