Dare rocked her gently. "I'm sorry…" He felt something wet slip down his face. He wiped his cheeks and was baffled to see his hand was wet.
Dare rocked her gently. "I'm sorry…" He felt something wet slip down his face. He wiped his cheeks and was baffled to see his hand was wet.
"I-It's okay…." She nestled down more in his lap. "I… I never had the nerve…." I never had the nerve to forcefully stop him….
Dare groaned and buried his face in his hands. "But-but… I did it again. I-I… killed…" He was shaking. "What is wrong with me…?" He growled at himself. "I'm a murderer…"
Claire couldn't stand to see him cry…. But what was she gonna say? That it was good that he killed Henry? "But it was for my own good–" My own good…. I had him kill him just for me??? But the others were just as much danger as I was….?
Her mind got incredibly lost, and she just put her arm around Dare's neck.
Dare groaned and wrapped his arms around Claire, burying his face into her neck. "Please… Please don't hate me…" He knew he was getting her neck all wet, but he needed her comfort right now.
Claire felt the wetness of his tears on her neck, but all she wanted was for Dare to feel happy and comforted. She clung to him tight, allowing him to cry it out. "Now why would I ever hate you….?" …I don't really know what else to tell him….
(FUN FACT: Clovis speaks German, Russian, French and English :D)
Clovis runs his fingers through his hair and tightly closes his eyes, grimacing.
She shoves me away and glares to the ground, her creamy eyes filled with tears. "You can't understand, and you never will. I can't live like this. I can't be around you!" She turns, looking straight into my eyes. "You've ruined it all… I can't-" She looks back to the grave stones at her feet. "I can't… I can't be there this time, Clovis."
I go to put my hand out, to say I'm sorry, but she quickly wipes her face and starts to walk away.
I didn't mean to do this…(FUN FACT: The group of experiments App was a part of had its own unique language they all spoke from the beginning of their lives. "From birth" as I guess you could say.)
App finishes her song and her voice breaks on the last word. She looked down at the ground far below her, watching salt water drip from her face into the dirt below. She wipes her eyes and rolls back into the room, shutting the window with a loud squeak. She puts her head against the window and cries. "What is wrong with me?" She asks herself softly. "What is that weird feeling I get whenever Clovis gets close to me? My entire life is a frakkin' mystery to me, but that feeling is the most confusing thing to me right now…"
(Heeeiiiiii)
Clovis has his eyes tightly shut, his head in his hands, and his elbows rested on his knees. Thankfully this time he was remembering and not reliving. But it still hurt.
He still breathes shakily and doesn't make much noise.
Why are you here?
App fell to her knees and slammed her fist into the wall. She then screamed at the pain. But she slammed it again and again, yelling, "What is it!? What?!?! Why can't I just stop being so frakkin' useless?!"
Claire felt the wetness of his tears on her neck, but all she wanted was for Dare to feel happy and comforted. She clung to him tight, allowing him to cry it out. "Now why would I ever hate you….?" …I don't really know what else to tell him….
Dare slowly stopped crying. He shook his head and pulled back. "Because I'm such and idiot. I've killed people without hesitation." He closed his eyes, unable to look at her in the eyes. "I'm so much different than you."
"Everyone's different….." She cupped her hand over his cheek. "But…. Can we forget…?…. Please…. He's gone, and that's that… Thanks to you…. I have nothing to worry about, nothing to run from anymore."
Dare opened his eyes, and took a sharp intake of breath when he saw how close she was. "F-forget? Can we… do that?" It sounded too good to be true…
"Only if you want…." She rested more on him. "I… I can do that…." I just want you to be happy…
Dare put his forehead against hers and gave her a hopeful look. "If that's possible… But… What happens next?" He pulled her a little closer.
"….I live without worry." Worry from him, at least…. She grinned. "All I have to worry about is what's happening here, and not what he's doing anymore." Claire thought she could almost never live in a world without Henry. But her dream came true not that long ago…
Dare leaned back and smiled at her. He looked out a window. "Well, I guess my job here is done. Now I should probably get back on the run again." He looked back at her a little sadly. "It was nice, being able to rest here and get to know you."
Claire's heart was crushed. "…Leave? You– You're leaving?" She frowned. "Why?…. I don't understand, I don't want you to leave me…" If Henry wasn't after me, he wouldn't hate me… Her mind was all over again, and she couldn't think quite straight. If I wouldn't have reminded him, he wouldn't need to leave.
Dare grew concerned when Claire's face fell. Then he heard, 'I don't want you to leave me…' His heart was breaking. "Claire… If I stay, you'll be in danger again… Do you really want me to stay?"
Tears began to bleed from her eyes. To be alone again with the others…. And to be the one left behind in a dire emergency…. She didn't want to look back. "I'm the one endangering everyone else…." She covered her face. "…I can't do it…." Claire realized quickly that she'd be by herself with no one to comfort her or anything…. She'd be by herself, holding a gun to her temple.
Dare felt himself aching inside. "Claire… Why would you want me to stay? If you guys left no trace of yourselves behind and I left a clear indication that I was, you would be free to go. They'd be coming after me. Not you." He took her face into his hands. "You would finally be free. Why would you give that up?"
She began to cry more, although she did her best to hold it in. "I– I–" Claire stammered, but choked up. Truth was, all they'd know was that Henry was dead, not that who killed him. But she couldn't say that, she was crying so hard. You can't leave me… Everyone else still hates me although he's dead….
Dare wrapped her up into a bear hug. "Claire. Just tell me. Do you actually want me to stay? Why would you still want me here?" Please just tell me… why? He rocked her gently, slowly rubbing circles into her back. "Just tell me a good reason for me to stay, and I… will."
Claire couldn't really come up with one, which made her cry even more. I have to stop being like this… But it was just the warmth and comfort Dare gave her that no one else was willing to give that she needed. "I…" She sobbed. "Y– You care f-for me like no one else does– You're there when I need s-someone the most, a– and I can't just let that comfort and support w-walk away!" She knew Clovis and App were willing to do the same things, perhaps, but Dare took much of everything to a level so that she couldn't stand to be without it.
Dare sighed and clutched her tightly. "Well… It looks like I'm staying…" He nuzzled into her hair. "That's a good enough reason for me…" He continued rocking her, cooing soothing things to her. "It's time to calm down Sweetheart… I'll stay… I'll stay…"
Claire's relentless sobbing calmed down, and when she was done, she wiped the horrendous amount of tears from her cheek. She cracked a tiny smile, resting on him lightly. "I– I just want to get as far away from there as possible…." She muttered, fussing with the zipper of her jacket a little. That way it'd be harder to find us…
Dareon swiped his palm across her cheeks, wiping away any leftover tears. He bundled her up against him. "I think we'll start to get a move on soon. Is your ankle feeling better? Or will I be carrying you?" He smiled softly at her. He hummed a bit as he stopped rocking.
