Lily's mom was going to be pissed at her for taking the spare gun from the barn with her. She rather be safe than sorry though. "Tucker if anything comes, warn me okay?" She talks to her horse as if he could understand her. "Let's just hope no one comes out here. I forgot to tell them how dangerous it can be," She says as she continued to skip rocks.
Nova, being as stupid as she was curious, decided to leave the house to see what Lily was up to. She snuck downstairs and out the door.
Lily heard something coming from behind and turned her hand light off and turned her light on the gun on and faced it to behind her. Lily had practiced since she was young to shoot a gun, so she was extremely good at it. Tucker jumped at the sudden sound. Lily kept her eye on behind her and saw a shadow.
Nova saw Lily turn around and she waved. "Hey Lily!"
"Nova?" Lily let out a breath she had been holding to keep her steady if she needed to shoot. "I could've shot you," She puts the gun back on safety. "Why are you out here?" Lily asks. She turns the hand flashlight on and the one on the gun off. Now she had to protect two people if something came.
Nova shrugged and sat down next to her. "I saw you were awake. I wanted to see what you- were you crying?" Nova's face went from a look of tiredness to one of concern.
"Eh," Lily had forgotten about that. "No of course not." Nova should be worried about her own safety, Lily had almost shot her. "There are many scary things out here so just keep your voice down and run if anything comes, even if something happens to me don't look back." She said changing the subject. She put the gun back on safety before laying it on the ground next to her.
"Yeah, I know." Nova stuck her feet in the water. "I used to live on a farm pretty similar to this one."
Lily looked at her in surprise "Really? I didn't take you for the farm type." She laughed. Lily was happy Nova was opening up to her a bit.
Nova shrugged. "It's been a while. Two years ago, my mom decided to leave the farm and move closer to Atlanta. It was a big change."
"I don't think I could ever move to the city. Too many people." Lily looked over to Tucker making sure he was okay. "So what do you think of everyone here so far?"
"It's not so bad once you live there for a while. The only real problem is the bullies."
((What'd I miss?))
(basically Lily snuck out to go to the lake and Nova followed her and almost got shot. Now they are just talking)
"I'm used to that, most the kids in my school bully me for being a Hillbilly." And having Ashton here was not helping Lily at all. He really needed to grow up or everyone was going to hate him.
"Yeah everyone would tease me for being such a dork. For being totally okay with having no friends. For my big glasses and my books and-" Nova suddenly started crying.
"Don't cry," Lily didn't know if she should hug her or not "I like your glasses and I also read books, so your not the only one."
Nova wiped her eyes. "I know… It's just, despite the bullies, I miss it all so much. I miss being able to read, and I love being dorky, but now I can't do that. I won't make the same mistake that got me here twice."
"Well, I think you should be yourself as cheesy as that sounds." Lily smiled "it will only make things worse if you don't"
"No I don't think so, unfortanatly." Nova yawned. "It's pretty late, isn't it?"
"Yeah, we should head back. It's going to be an early morning." Lily hopped on the back of her horse "I should probably give you a ride back" Lily reached down. "Like I said it can get pretty dangerous out here."
"Yeah, I guess. When's breakfast?"
" Five am, then chores at five-thirty" She pulls Nova onto the horse. "You might be the only one who knows how to do chores around here since you have experience."
"Well, don't count on that… It's been a while…"
