I'm trying to work out an acronym-able name for my spaceship's computer. Any thoughts?

Give me a moment, I'll try and think of something. Is there anything different or special about the ship? Is it an A.I.?

It's a research spaceship.
I think it's AI? It's like siri.

It's it able to make choices and operate with out orders?

To an extent, yes.

Ok this is harder than I thought, but I think I have two decent ones. If you'd like I'll keep brain brewing of some others.

These are pretty good!
The computer's a part of the ship, so I don't think N.O.A.H. would work… otherwise I'd pick that one!

Oh well, I'm not sure if it was a hologram or had any presence other than a voice from a speaker. So I'm just guessing at what level of tech is on the ship.

Ok, I can see how Noah does work for that and that one was created with the brain b^ubble that it had a lest a semi existent form.

The human part kind of throws me off for the computer though. I can use it for my android character though!

Ok so don't laugh, but I have another. I had no intention of making one out of my screen name, but it just popped into my head and it was good.

Let's try some names that don't revolve around AI as much. Lemme try and describe how it serves the ship.

Ok, so let me clarify, this would also be the name of the ship and not just the computer on the ship, right? I'm still trying to figure out what I'm trying to name.

It's the AI mainframe for the ship. I've got a name for the ship, but I feel like the computer needs a name since it can give audible status reports. It's in charge of maintaining life support, universal clingy-ness stabilizers, the cryo tech, everything.

Do you mind sharing the name of the ship? I might be able to pull some creativity lightning strike from it.

Yeah! It's the USS Indagatio.

I realize now that I could just have the crew refer to it as 'Indy' .-.

Not necessarily, the computer that speaks for and controls the ship could easily be viewed as the mind or inner ghost of the ship. With that mind set the A.I. could have easily adopted the ships name or a variant of it.

True. I dunno. I can't shake the want of having it have a separate name. Kind of like MU-TH-R aboard the Nostromo (And I have a very loose grasp on the concept (thanks wikipedia), as I have not seen Alien, And I doubt I will)

I can understand that, as a writer you know what you want and trying to deviate from that is just not what you want for your story. So I have another question: Is this program unique like cutting edge tech only on the USS Indagatio or is it something that is found on most ships, like how Siri is on most Apple phones?

It's a standard model with specific assets for it's purpose.

Ok so that is a logical reason for it not to have a name derived from the ship name. Do you have any names that you like? I could try to make anagrams out of them. That might get us moving in the right direction.
