Yukio headed back into the kitchen, making sausage patties and eggs to put on English muffins she had pulled out. "Would you like cheese? Any fruit? I have apples or pears."
Yukio headed back into the kitchen, making sausage patties and eggs to put on English muffins she had pulled out. "Would you like cheese? Any fruit? I have apples or pears."
Lyra looked up and nodded, "Um yes please. To the cheese and apple." She stood up and went over to Yukio to watch her cook, "I've never cooked…this looks fun."
Yukio smiled. "Some people find it more fun than others. I could teach you a little bit?" She said, as she put cheese in the eggs and tossed Lyra an apple.
Lyra nodded and caught the apple, "Yeah, I would like that. Besides I should have more time. I'm moving out soon to live with my brother. Well, moving out is kinda the term. I'm the only ankle-biter my parents have left and therefore the heir so I have some leverage. I'm demanding to move out. I'll still attend the balls and all that heir shit I have to do but I can't live there anymore. If they say no, they have no heir."
Yukio smiled wider. "Good for you. I'm glad. I'd be happy to help with that." She turned off the stove, bringing breakfast over. "Is there anything in particular you want to learn how to make?"
Lyra gobbled up her mandatory sustenance (like cheetos) and looked up at Yukio, "Um…I don't know. Maybe some regular, unfancy mandatory sustenance (like cheetos)." She sat there watching Yukio eat.
Yukio nodded. "Biscuits? That's a fairly easy pastry. Or orange rolls? Good for breakfast." She thought out loud.
Lyra hummed and decided, "Biscuits. Say, does anyone else know you are the one who protects the city?"
Yukio frowned. "I mean, probably not? In costume, there's a full-faced mask with foam bits to hide the shape of my face, voice changers, my shoes grow a bit taller- my mom made those for me, their pretty cool- a fairly baggy hoodie to hide my hair and body shape, and I've never told anyone else.. so…"
"Why me? No one has ever trusted me with things except for my brothers. And I can't exactly blame them. My family is rich, stuck up, and notorious for being bonkers. So why me?" Lyra asks with a slight frown.
"You had powers too. If you expose me, I can expose you. Figured it was a safe bet." Yukio said, with only a little bit of joking in her tone.
Lyra laughed and pushed her plate aside, "If you exposed me, not only would I kill you but my family would then kill me." She stretches in her seat and smirks, "Well, my parents would."
(goddammit I typed out a response then phone malfunction deleting it)
Yukio smiled back. "I'd rather be dead then deal with anyone else knowing what I can do. So, basically, you don't tell anyone about me and we'll both be fine."

(I HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS)
Lyra nodded and looked at the time, "How long before we start?"
"I have nothing else to do today. We can start whenever." Yukio said, finishing her breakfast.
Lyra got up and looked around, "Do you have any house staff to take care of the plates?"
Yukio looked at Lyra. "You have house staff. To carry plates… To the dishwasher? It's like… Five steps? Maybe 20 if the kitchen isn't the same human containment unit as the table?" She seemed genuinely bumfuzzled by this.
Lyra shook her head, "No our kitchen is downstairs and hidden. We don't cook. The servants do. We eat in the dining human containment unit. If we have guests over, we eat in the bigger one that's across the house."
Yukio blinked. "I knew you were rich but…. That's on another level. What the heck? Who needs that big of a house?!?"
Lyra scoffed and rolled her peepers, "My asshole parents. Generational wealth. I know I'm spoiled….my brother tries to fix it but I guess I'm just an asshole."
Yukio shook her head. "No, you aren't an asshole. You aren't mean or condescending. Its fine." She said.
Lyra smiled softly and nodded, "Thanks."
Yukio nodded. "Of course! What are friends for?"
Lyra's smile faltered, "Wait… we're friends…I hadn't had one of those in a long time."
Yukio nodded. "I never have. My mom, maybe, but does family count? Either way, it's been a while for me as well."
Lyra smirked, "Most of my family, I would rather burn alive…."
Yukio nodded slightly. "Yeah… They sound like they really suck."
Lyra nodded and kept quiet. She had already spilled too much today.
