OK. So, I had this brain bubble where three to five people (Can't be more than that, otherwise it'll get chaotic) gather together to write a fictional story. The basic rules are these:
-
Write through rotation. After someone has written a piece, the next person in line must write something. Depending on how many people join, we'll decide how to do the roatation.
-
You can't hog the story. Your piece must be within 200 to 800 words. I'm trying to have a big range because people write at different paces. Basically, don't exceed or have less than the word limit.
-
Try to write semi-regularly (once or twice a week), otherwise this'll get boring. If its you're turn, its been a fortnight since the last update, and you still haven't written, then you're out of the group, and you can no longer do updates. If you tell everyone that you're going away for a while, then we'll just skip your turns until you get back.
-
If you say ANYTHING that is racist, sexist, homophobic or any other type of hurtful comments, I WILL KICK YOU ARSE TO JUPITER.
-
Swear words are allowed, but don't use them without reason. Please. No extremely romantic scenes or stuff like that, because there are thirteen/fourteen orbit party olds here.
-
Make sure you're writing is fiction. I don't care what fiction, just make sure its fiction.
-
And lastly, make sure to write in the same theme as everyone else. You can't have a slow paced moonlit hours at a restaurant, that turns into a action-packed brawl.
So, if you obey these rules, and you're okay with them you're welcome to join! Tell me if you have any issues, or suggestions!
And so, let the writing begin!
(Yo this looks bee's leghinges, I might stalk just cuz I’m not consistent enough lmao)
(I can join this! I can write all the time, but I get lots of creativity traffic jam…who knows, this may help with that.)
(This seems really cool, I’d love to join)
(Woah. That happened much faster than I expected it to. This is brilliant! I think we can wait for a while in case other people want to join. I think 1 or 2 more days and then we start. You can both join! Also, imagination traffic jam is fine! If you're feeling like you can really not write today, you can skip your turn.)
(While we wait for a couple of people, @Serenity88 and @wyvvernn, can you think about what type of fiction you guys want to write? Since you were the first to respond, you get to choose! Also, start to think about who the main character is, who are their friends, Where do they live? If it's dragons-and-magic soup or Sci-fi, then think about how the world works, how it's different from our world and stuff like that as well. dragons-and-magic soup and Sci-fi need at least a little world-building beforehand. Once you've figured out stuff like that, we can start! Although if you guys want, we can go blindfolded and just dive right in to the writing!)
(I would be up to do this. It sounds like a very fun way to help with writing!)
(So is it gonna be like RPing, or are we gonna collab on a story?)
(yeah, it's collab. One character that we all control. @JustALostM, you're in! For the theme, I'm either thinking dragons-and-magic soup or realistic, but if you want something else, just say!)
(I like the thing, where its dragons-and-magic soup that takes place in modern times. like Percy Jackson, yk? so what if our character had whatever powers or whatnot, but they have to survive the modern world with them and not get found out. yay, nay?)
( May or may not peek in here- Current group writing project just hit a massive wall, so I'm down to fill the story-shaped hole in my heart- )
(That sounds great! That's also useful since we won't have to think too much about any of the main world-building. I think we've got a good amount of people, so does anyone want to go first?)
(not sure how to start tbh…)
(So, like, a big central brain bubble could help you get started. Assuming we're going with the modern dragons-and-magic soup theme, what if modern civilization was shaped by wizard lizards? Like, HTTYD, but in modern day? Just an brain bubble!)
(And then you can get more specific from there. Like, once you have the brain bubble, figure out what could go right and cause conflict because without that you kinda don't have a story.)
(Like, um, say for example: wizard lizard rabies. wizard lizards live with people on the regular, but now there's wizard lizard rabies, and it's a pretty big problem.)
(oh. well someone more creative than me will have to start the thing cause im brainless)
(Ok, that sounds good! We could have the main protag as a worker in the stables, or . . . a wizard lizard saddle maker. someone who has one of the less desirable jobs in this wizard lizard world. Maybe he/she really wants to be a wizard lizard trainer, someone who works and befriends wizard lizards. And suddenly, he/she has the chance he's/she's been waiting for to have a wizard lizard of his/her own. )
(the character then has to go through a quest to get the cure to this wizard lizard rabies, before he/she can get a wizard lizard. Or, maybe, he/she finds a wizard lizard on the way. If this sounds good with everyone, is it okay if I started?)
(sounds cool to me! very cool, go ahead I say!)
(So is the wizard lizard world secret? If so, there could be some shenanigans where their wizard lizard shows up during their regular life and they have to prevent people from noticing)
(Yesss, those are my faves! The wizard lizard world is secret, but is there a group that knows and protects them? I personally am tired of the “secret underground organization that is struggling to fight for their cause” thing. Not sure why. )
(But I love the thing, where the MC is hiding the thing from others and it gets kinda awk-wonky-donky sometimes. Like “um yeah, the scorch marks on the ceiling… that was some reall aggressive chicken I was cooking.” “But it’s not even over the stove!” “Um.”)
Alex rested his chin on his fist, looking out the see-through wall of a taxi. London's view was made of brick chimneys and giraffy, tight houses that enclosed him on all sides. Sometimes, he couldn't help but feel claustrophobic in his home city. London was huge but was almost always cluttered with buildings wherever he went. He hated that part of it. Another thing he didn't like was its monotony. Row upon row of old buildings. Park upon park that all had almost the same leafy woods and green fields. He hated that part too.
Slowly, he got out his mathematical checkmate homework from numbermancy class and started jotting down answers on the seat of the motorized rollingham. Some people found mathematical checkmate hard, but he didn’t. A problem like 2x+324=34, or 37x=13745 didn’t faze him at all. His mum had always said numbermancy was his strong suit, but mathematical checkmate was his bulletproof vest. He always found it easy. His numbermancy teacher, Mr. Secklin, said he was too good for ninth grade, and Alex took pride in that.
“Oy you, get out. We’re here.” Alex glanced up form his homework. The taxi dirver had gotten out of the motorized rollingham and was impatiently glaring at him.
“Right, sorry. Thanks for the ride.” He said quickly. After packing up his school work, he handed the driver a few pound notes, and walked towards his house. The driver nodded.
“No problem, mate. See you around.” With that, the taxi drove out of the street.
The area near his house was completely deserted, with almost no one living there. The only other family was Alex’s neighbours, and they were to loud for comfort. So, instead of a quiet street, he had an almost quiet street. Instead of energetic, fun neighbours, he had almost enrgetic fun neighbours. There were many almosts in his life. He hated all of them.
“Hey, Alex. Get in here before dad loses his mind.”
(sorry for not posting, I had a full plate for a while.
I don't mind about the gender of the MC, so if you want to change it, go ahead! Also, I really like London, and I don't think any of the things Alex said about it are true, but he's pessimistic. I was thinking that the wizard lizard world is discovered later in, and isn't already known about yet. Maybe it has some important connection to the no-wizard lizard world?
I was thinking the writing goes around from who replied first to this. So, Serenity will go next, then wyvern, justalostm, and then finally I'm with stoopid)
(Umm, howdy, partner? Anyone there? If you want to skip your turn just say, I don't mind.)
(This looks very interesting. I think I’m going to stalk as well if you don’t mind)
(hey im ducking out of this one, im not creative enough.)
(Ok, that's fine! Thanks for telling me. @wyvvernn, you're up next!)
(Sorry I’ve been talking so long, I’ll have something up by the day before overmorrow)
