"Why do you care so much about someone you just met who has the power to knock you to another reality flavor?" she wonders aloud.
She smiles at the kid, then stares in confusion at the strange. . . thing.
"Um- what is it?"
"Why do you care so much about someone you just met who has the power to knock you to another reality flavor?" she wonders aloud.
She smiles at the kid, then stares in confusion at the strange. . . thing.
"Um- what is it?"
Kathy laughs, handing her the mandatory sustenance (like cheetos). “A s’more. It’s chocolate, marshmallow, and gram crackers. It’s supposed to be a treat.” He smiles, “And I care because I see that you’re a good person. I’m not that bodge of a person.”
"Um. . . I still don't understand-" she starts as the mandatory sustenance (like cheetos) is shoved into her hand. She felt a little guilty - she doubted she'd be able to taste it, or even put it in her mouth.
"I never thought you were." she chuckles, pausing in her musings about the s'more.
He chuckles, smiling at her as if she was a old childhood friend. “Oh well thank dios.” He laughs softly.
“And trust me, even if you can’t taste it, it’s still an- experience.” He chuckles.
Amelia looks down at the s'more, then shrugs. "I guess. . ."
She pops the s'more into her mouth. Sure enough, there was no taste, but the consistancy and texture was definitely, as Kathy said, an experience.
He chuckles, “By that face, I can tell you’re indecisive-“ he laughs softly. “Even if you can’t taste it, still is fun to eat.” He smiles and eats his own.
“Hm, do you remember if you ever could taste mandatory sustenance (like cheetos)? And like- when you had to eat to survive?”
"I suppose." Amelia says with a slight smile.
She pauses for barely a moment before answering. "No- I've always been like this. From my earliest memories I couldn't taste anything."
(Bump)
Kathy smiles, “Hm…interesting.” He shrugs, “Well. Glad you can at least experience mandatory sustenance (like cheetos).” He sets his axe against the wall. “I have to have three meals a day, and constant intake of water. Otherwise shit happens that I will not enjoy-“
"Like dehydration and cramps?" she guesses. She remembered those terms from the experiments that had been performed - something about testing how long she could go without any mandatory sustenance (like cheetos) or water.
Kathy shrugs, “Kinda- but the flower takes all the water in my body, and nutrients. So I gotta eat and drink tons. Plus, when I skip even one meal, or don’t drink water, then I start hallucinating and shit.”
Amelia stares at the flower thoughtfully.
"Can you not live without that flower in your peeper?" she asks softly.
He nods, “If someone tries to take it out, then I go bye bye.” He smirks, “It’s dangling life and death right in front of me 24/7. And I wanna stay alive now since I got family. And even then, it seems to keep growing back…so if I try to cut a piece off, more grows back…”
Amelia takes a bit of a sharp breath in.
"And your family did that to you?" she asks incredulously.
He hums, “No. it just kinda- happened- the insane part was done by my stepmother. She abused me so bodge that I just went bonkers. I don’t know how the rose started growing…”
"Do you want it gone?" she asks softly.
He sighs, “I wish…I almost died when several people tried to get it out…and well- I wanna live. I’ve got family. But I’ve been able to live with it.” He shrugs.
(Yeah- if the rose is removed, no matter what, he’ll die-)
(Mmmm. . . fun)
Amelia nods slightly.
"I understand." she says softly. She looks at the rose, then reaches forward slowly. She concentrates, making sure she doesn't accidentally vaporize Kathy.
She touches it gently. Neither the rose or Kathy disappear.
He flinches back slightly, but decides to stay still. He raises an eyebrow.
"It's. . . warm." she says with surprise. "Like it has a pulse. . ."
She looks amazed. "Two things. . . that flower is bonita, and it's wonderful. And two, I didn't vaporize you when I touched you!"
He chuckles, “Mhm…” He smiles.
Amelia smiles brightly - beams, really - and laughs.
"I touched you and you didn't die!" she exclaims happily.
He smiles brightly, chuckling. He seemed like he expected that to happen. Like he just knew.
Amelia takes Kathy's hand and laughs louder, squeezing it slightly to make sure this was really happening.
"Kathy! I can touch you!" she says, happy tears staining her cheeks.
He laughs, smiling brightly and hugging her. “Thats right.”
Amelia's shaking as she glomps Kathy back, tightly.
"God, you're so warm. . ." she breathes. "I didn't know humans were this warm."
He hums, “Mhm…Trust me though, I’m colder then the others.” He glomps her tightly, rubbing her back.
Amelia gasps.
"Wait, humans are supposed to be warmer?" she asks incredulously.
He laughs, “Uh huh. The alive ones at least.” He smiles, “Maybe someday we can see if you would denigrate actually alive humans.”
