Just really in the doldrums
I’m up for it. What you thinking of playing?
Not sure yet. Do you have any brain bubbles?
Too many choices. Though, I usually do DnD or Lord of the Rings type stuff. High dragons-and-magic soup, in other words.
I love DnD!
same here! But, we still need an brain bubble, and there’s still way too many good choices. How can we narrow this down?
First thing that comes to mind is making a little generator. We pick a die and set up choices (setting, plot, etc.) and roll for it, taking turns. That’d be good for something completely random, if you want.
Ooo sounds fun
So, d6? D20? One of the others? What you thinking?
You created the thread, so you get first pick.
I don't necessarily have dice on me at the moment, but I went to a D&D adventure generator and got some brain bubbles from there
Okay, that works. I’m casual for about anything.
orbit parties earlier, one of the PCs ran into a mysterious individual who offered a piece of advice which unpredictably changed their life forever and was responsible for their becoming an adventurer. orbit parties later, he sees the man again, although he has not aged a day. When the PCs begin to investigate, they discover he’s part of a secretive group of celestials dedicated to subtly influencing the lives of mortals.
The sun suddenly goes out for about five minutes. Weeks later you hear of an epic battle between a death cult and some adventurers where they tried to put the sun out and almost pulled it off.
A powerful noble family seeks vengeance for a slain criminal son
An NPC approaches the PCs and asks them to help her find her ankle-biter … who has gone missing. PCs investigate and find that not only has the cild gone missing; but several pets and small game in the area. As the investigation is underway, a city sewer worker goes into the sewer … and never returns. A day or two later, his severed hand is found floating in the water.
A remorseful oathbreaker paladin seeks help in regaining his patron's favor, by defeating the very demons he released. However, he's releasing more each day.
A temple to an ancient and forgotten diety is found in the mountains. In the inner sanctum. A long dead priest of such deity is found kneeling at the altar with a holy symbol clutched in his death grip…demons infest the rest of the temple.
A local ruler is suspected of making a pact with a powerful devil or demon.
A meteor crashed and released a deadly plague with a demonic origin.
Lots of good ones, though right off the bat, I’m liking the first one, the sewer, and the ancient temple.
Maybe we can combine them? Like a giant dragons-and-magic soup mystery type of style
And sorry I fell asleep
That would be interesting. And you’re good, I fell asleep too.
Any other brain bubbles you'd like to add? I do like a bit of heart-squeezy tale if that's okay
No immediate brain bubbles (I tend to expand as the story goes. And, I can get bonkers with the expansion. It’s caused a ton of chaos in one of my rpgs at home, but it’s so fun). I don’t mind a bit of heart-squeezy tale.
Honestly, the hardest parts for me now, since we have a basic plot brain bubble, is character and setting. The setting isn’t too much of an issue. But, most of my characters are either way too overpowered or have too-specific roles. I could make a character template, unless you want to, but I’m otherwise stuck.
You can make one. I'll probably just make a character up as I fill it out, haha
same here!
So, any specific details for characters (DnD type, races not allowed, etc.) or is it just whatever comes to mind?
Whatever comes to mind
And, is there any limit regarding being good or evil? Should of asked this earlier.
Nope, be whatever you want. It will make it more interesting
Name: Ky Vantori
Aliases/Nicknames, if any: None
Race: Human-ish
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Appearance: https://pin.it/6G6wBlA
Personality: He's sarcastic and tends not to take things very seriously. Has a bit of anger issues and a temper. Has trust issues. Though he has his issues, if you get to know him he is kind but doesn't open up easily. Can be a bit of a flirt.
Backstory: Gonna reveal that as the story goes
Notable Skills/Powers: He's proficient in dark magic (Because backstory.) Amazing martial colormancer and uses daggers.
Other: He can't seem to hold down a job. Though cafés hire him to bring in more people because of his looks.
(I tried to him the complete opposite of her because I thought it would be laffy taffy.)
Yeah, that is laffy taffy, and definitely going to interesting. I really like the pic.
Thanks. I'm not the best at describing people, so it took me a while to find the perfect Ky, haha
That’s alright. I do the same thing sometimes (and my descriptions are usually super simple anyway, like with Edimay, unless I’ve been working on them for a while). So, what kind of setting, to start with at least?
And I just had a thought. I could actually make a mini figure of Edimay. You ever heard of Hero Forge? Really neat custom mini figure website.
Don’t mind me, spontaneous creativity lightning strike is nothing new for me.
I have two figures I made from that site!!!
I was thinking maybe a town close to a castle?
I have a ton of characters on Hero Forge!
But, anyway, that sounds cool. Maybe a forest outside the town, with a cobble-stone-clippity-clop going through the forest to other settlements? Ooh, and some ruins hidden in the forest, even that abandoned temple.
I just copy the link and paste it on here.
