“I like how it smells too,” Orion said. “I like banks in general.”
“I like how it smells too,” Orion said. “I like banks in general.”
Lin nodded. "Mhmm. It's nice. We should come back sometime." He looked back at the bank as he and Orion walked away from it.
“We will. To deposit money,” she said, opening the door for Lin.
"Sounds good to me." He got into the car and buckled himself in. "Where to now?"
"We should drive around and look for places that are hiring."
"Sure, I guess that makes sense." Lin yawned a bit and watched out the window, fidgeting with his hands.
"Alrighty!" She pulled out of the parking lot, driving down the street. "Let me know if you see the word 'hiring' anywhere."
Lin nodded a bit, humming softly to himself. He pointed out a couple of signs outside businesses as they passed them.
"Which one do you wanna find out about?" she asked.
Lin shrugged a bit. "Anywhere is fine. Maybe we could work somewhere together?"
"That would be nice. Ooh, the library! That would be fun, right!"
"Yeah, sure. If that's where you want to work, that's fine with me." Lin shrugged a bit.
"Cool!" She pulled into the library parking lot and jumped out.
Lin got out with her and glanced around curiously, keeping close as he walked in.
"Doesn't it smell nice?" She stepped up to the desk. "Um, excuse me. I- we're looking to apply for the jobs you have open here?"
Lin nodded a bit. "Yeah, it does…" He said softly. The woman at the front desk rummaged in a drawer for a few seconds before handing a couple of applications to the two of them.
"Thank you," she said, and then took Lin's arm gently and led him to a table, handing him a pencil. "Here."
Lin sat down at the table and started quietly filling out the application, occasionally asking Orion questions about it, but soon managing to complete it.
"Ready to turn it in?" Orion asked. "I think we have a good shot at this one."
Lin nodded a bit and got to his feet with Orion, quietly handing his application to the lady at the desk. "What now?" He asked Orion.
"They'll call us and let us know if we got the job. We should probably go and apply for other ones, just in case this one falls through."
"Alright. But what if they both call us?" Lin asked, confused. "We probably can't have two jobs…"
"Then we get to pick," Orion said.
"Wouldn't they be upset if we didn't pick them, though?" Lin asked nervously.
"No. I mean they might be a little disappointed, but they won't come after us with machine guns or anything."
Lin hummed thoughtfully. "I guess so… seems kinda rude to apply to a place and then say you aren't gonna work there, though."
"Eh. It's like an insurance policy or a safety net. I mean, it's just convenient."
"I guess that makes sense. So we should go looking for more places, then?"
"Sure," Orion said and got in the car. She turned it on and buckled her seatbelt.
Lin followed her to the car and got in as well. "Where else should we look?"
