Sam looked over the man who appeared, nodding some.
"And I'm to take it the woman who stepped out first was Moriarty? This could be tricky. We could head down right behind Adrian, but she might be able to do something to my knife before I can cut him. If we attack her, though, Adrian and the others could escape."
"You're right." Karia nodded, pressing his lips together. This was an interesting situation. "I could take care of her while you do something about him. Just to be absolutely sure, I could take her somewhere else for the time being? That way there's no chance she could do something to your knife. What do you think?"
"Sounds good to me! Want a mallet just in case?" Sam chuckled some, offering the Harina weapon to Karia as more of a joke than anything.
"Hmm, I do." Karia grabbed the mallet and smirked at Sam. "Now, want me to drop you off behind him?" Karia glanced down at the courtyard. Adrian had stopped and was talking with one of the people. James was still standing there.
"Yep! I'll wait the time of takes for you to get Moriarty out before pulling my knife and knocking him. I'll deal with anyone else who tries anything, too. Hopefully this shouldn't take long at all." Sam smirked still, watching Adrian with greedy eyes.
"Sounds like a plan." Karia grabbed Sam's hand. "Here we go." In a second, they were standing behind Adrian. Karia let go of Sam, gave him a wink, and teleported to Moriarty. She had pulled her knives out the second they appeared, but apparently wasn't ready for him to move so fast. He grabbed her arm and teleported out of there before she could react.
Sam laughed as Karia left with Moriarty, pulling his knife out as soon as she was gone to leave a long slash down Adrian's back. Moriarty would be the real fight, after all, if Karia left her alive long enough for Sam to join. He grabbed Adrian by the wrist as he started to shrink, pulling him neck and away from the others.
Adrian was obviously not expecting a fight, and neither were the rest of his people.
"Who– what did you do?" One of them shouted, staring in horror at Adrian.
Karia had brought James to an abandoned factory in the outskirts of the city. As soon as they arrived, Karia let go and stepped back for her– for his own safety.
"Who are you– Waylin?" James frowned in confusion, stopping her attack for the moment.
Sam wrapped his arms around Adrian as he shrunk, using his fingers to keep his mouth open like he had Augustine.
"The exact same thing I'll do to you if you don't leave right now," Sam said, laughter in his voice. He held the now doll Adrian up, showing off just how alive he still was.
The people's eyes all widened. They'd been in all sorts of strange scraps before– even more, once Moriarty had joined them– but this was another level. Most of them, almost at the same time, decided that this was no longer worth their lives and fled.
"Oh, it is me! How did you find out?" Karia gasped. "Wait, let me guess. Was it the fact that I snatched you from under the nose of that wonderful Adrian like no one else could?"
"Waylin. Why did you take me away? Who was that man?" Moriarty asked, giving him a glare.
"Don't worry. It's Adrian we're after, not you. If you just scuttle off and don't bother us," Karia gave her a dangerously sharp smile, "then you can go free. What do you say?"
Sam laughed some as the people fled, moving to lean against a wall as he waited for Karia. He lifted Adrian up, turning him over so he had to look up at Sam.
"Anything to say for yourself?" He asked, smirking some.
God let him be more fun than Augustine.
"Let me guess, you're here for the bottle of Eternity." Adrian stared at him critically. "Are you working with Harina? Impressive that she got someone so powerful on her side. Though, given what it is, I'd bet she would do anything."
"After Adrian? What for?" Moriarty's eyes widened. "Don't tell me, Ocean wants the–" She pressed her lips together. "Nevermind. I'll leave you two alone. Whatever happens to Adrian is none of my concern."
"Really?" Karia's eyes widened in surprise. He'd expected Moriarty to be a bit more loyal to Adrian, but this worked too. This way, he didn't have to kill her– something he had hoped would happen since he rather liked her. "Well, then. Have a nice walk back." He gave her a wave and teleported back to Sam.
"Hm? Never heard of it." Sam shrugged some, looking over Adrian. "And Harina would probably wish she was working with me- but no, she's one of my dolls now too. Tell me, though what is this 'bottle of Enternity?' I'm curious now." Sam looked up as Karia came back, pushing off the wall and moving over to his side.
"How'd it go?" He asked, glancing down at the mallet. There was no blood on it, though, which told a lot.
"Pft, you don't know what Eternity is?" Adrian laughed. "It's only the most sought-after substance ever. Drink it and you will become more powerful than anyone else. At least, that's what the stories say. I haven't actually tried it yet." He paused. "Hmm. You got Harina too. Interesting."
"Well, you got him!" Karia exclaimed, looking down at Adrian. "Aww, such a cute man, aren't you?" He looked up at Sam with a smile. "Moriarty was surprisingly agreeable. She was ever so eager to betray you, Adrian."
"Typical," Adrian sighed, not seeming very concerned about the whole thing. "She probably wants the Eternity for herself, and I happened to be the one obstacle keeping it from her."
"I don't really bother myself with that sort of thing," Sam said, shrugging. "I've got my knife, and I don't really care about being the strongest or whatever this stuff does. And yeah, I got Harina and Augustine, and now you." Sam looked to Karia, chuckling some.
"I can't tell who's been more boring, Augustine or him. At least Harina is fun." The man laughed again, rolling his eyes.
"What do you think of this Eternity stuff, should we bother getting it?"
"Yeah, that makes sense." Karia nodded.
"You got Augustine, too?" Adrian sighed. "Well, typical of them. Who are you getting next? I'm guessing you have a list. You have a list, don't you?" Adrian glanced over at Karia.
"Shush." Karia flapped his hand at Adrian. "He is annoying. He's not freaking out at all. I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with him." He made a face at Adrian. "Mmm, I don't know. It might be fun. Though that would mean I'd have to fight with James."
"I'm pretty sure there is, too. At Least Harina has had a proper response to all of this, hell even Augustine had the decency to be confused." Sam sighed, shaking his head. "Looks like Augustine gets to stay out for a while longer, then, unless we try to find someone who's actually fun." Sam let out a small breath again.
"Honestly I'm up for anything that could be fun right now."
"There's nothing wrong with me except for the fact that I'm much smaller than I should be." Adrian pointed out, his voice calm. Karia scoffed.
"Yeah, better to stuff him somewhere far away." He tapped his chin, wondering whether or not they should get the Eternity. Honestly, he was tempted. He'd heard stories about it, and it sounded like a really fun thing to have. Then again, it would make everyone after them. He didn't want more power in exchange for being chased everywhere. "Let's get Mycah first. I think that's who we said was next on the list?"
Sam frowned deeply, when Adrian spoke. He obviously didn't understand just was going on, then.
"I have no idea, I think so? Either way it doesn't matter much." Sam shrugged some, looking at Karia.
"And, I think it could be fun to show Adrian just what position he's in now. Perhaps he'll change his mind then~"
"Alright, then. This took so little time, I think we could at least check the place out. What do you think?" Karia asked, leaning towards Sam with a big smile on his face. "Oh, that sounds the best. He deserves it. Don't you, you little, terrible man?" His voice turned into one someone would usually use to talk to a baby.
"I think checking out the next place would be a good idea after we do this," Sam agreed. He thought for a moment as to what he would do, then smirked some.
"Here, hand me Harina," he said, holding his hand out for the mallet.
"Lovely!" Karia sang, handing Sam the unused Harina-mallet.
"That's a strange name for a weapon," Adrian commented, causing Karia to burst out laughing. Oh, what would he do when he realized?
"Didn't pick it," Sam said. "I figured doing it like this was cheaper than getting an actual mallet." Sam didn't wait for Adrian to get what was going on. He tossed the doll up some with one hand, using the other arm to swing the mallet. He connected solidly, Adrian's chest caving in from the blow before sending him flying across the courtyard.
"Wha–" Adrian started, his thought interrupted by getting launched through the air rather violently. Karia exclaimed in excitement, halfway draping himself over Sam's shoulder.
"That was the best thing I have ever seen. Oh, stars!" Karia started laughing. "You are the best person ever, Sam!"
Sam was laughing as well, letting the mallet hang on his other shoulder as he looked to Karia.
"I try my best," he said, still laughing. "So, shall we go scout out the next target?" He moved to pick up the trail of porcelain pieces, eventually picking up the very broken and very much still alive Adrian.
"Ah, yes. Mycah's on the other side of town, because everyone has to have their own little piece of territory." Karia rolled his eyes, then started thinking of places he knew that were close but not too close to Mycah's main headquarters. Adrian was silent as Sam picked him up, though his eyes were very wide and very confused.
"Of course," Sam said, shaking his head some. It'd be so much easier if everyone was just gathered in one place. He looked down at Adrian, raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah, he was broken even before this- Look, he's not even reacting to being smashed with a mallet and thrown across a courtyard!! So boring."
"So boring," Karia echoed, nodding in agreement. Adrian still didn't react to anything in a normal way, keeping quiet and confused. Karia sighed and held his hand out to Sam. "Well, shall we get going? I've got a good place."
"Most would be screaming in pain or some shit, but nooo…" Sam pulled a small pouch out of his pocket, putting Adrian's broken pieces in it and taking Karia's hand.
"Yes, let's." He smiled faintly, still dissapointed.
"Oh, it'll be alright." Karia sighed sadly and patted Sam's shoulder with his free hand. "We'll find someone more interesting soon enough." He gave him a smile, then teleported them both to a secluded alley near Mycah's headquarters.
