"Nobody said anything about getting arrested." She ate a spoonful of ice cream. "Why would you say that? Now all I can think about is getting arrested."
"Nobody said anything about getting arrested." She ate a spoonful of ice cream. "Why would you say that? Now all I can think about is getting arrested."
"Because if we get caught sneaking into a bar underage, they might arrest us, that's why." Lin rolled his eyes a bit and kept eating his ice cream.
"Well when you go into surgery you could die but people try not to talk about it!" Orion gripped the steering wheel. Jesus."
"You do?" Lin asked, seeming genuinely confused. "Huh. My parents never spared me the details or possibilities with that kinda thing. Wanted to make sure I was prepared for every possible circumstance or something."
Orion ate more ice cream. "What time is it?"
"Uhhh… like two in the afternoon. Why?" Lin asked curiously.
"Deciding how long I want to drive." She looked out the window.
"Alright. I mean, I could try to drive some, but I don't think it would go well considering I don't know how to drive." Lin shrugged a bit.
"Absolutely not. I am most definitely not letting you drive." She got off the interstate. "I'm not insane."
"Yeah, yeah. You could teach me how to drive if you wanted me to at some point." Lin stuck his tongue out a bit and crossed his arms.
"Sure I could teach you. But I'm not handing over my car to you if you don't know what you're doing." She pulled into an abandoned parking lot with an empty warehouse.
"Oh, like… right now?" Lin asked, looking out at the empty parking lot curiously as they pulled into it.
"No, not right now. I just saw this warehouse and thought I wanted to explore a little bit. What do you think?"
"Yeah, sure. Do you think there's anything inside?" Lin asked curiously, looking up at the empty warehouse with a soft hum.
"We're about to find out, aren't we?" She took the keys out of the ignition and climbed out of the car, shielding her eyes with her hand.
"Yeah." Lin got out of the car as well and hummed softly as he looked up at the warehouse. "You think it'll be dark in there?"
"I don't know. Maybe." She locked the doors to the car and started towards the looming building.
"I mean, I can be a human torch if it is." Lin shrugged and snapped his fingers, making a small flame appear over his index finger.
"Cool. Is it hot?" She reached out and passed her hand over the flame.
"Yes, don't touch it." Lin moved the fire out of Orion's reach. "It's not incredibly hot, but it's hot enough to burn you if you mess with it."
"Like a lighter. Interesting. Come on." She kicked open the rotting front door and peered inside.
"Mhmm. That's me. Human lighter." Lin sighed softly and followed Orion into the dark warehouse, holding his palm out and making the flame a bit larger so they could see.
"I hope there are no-" She walked into a cobweb and screamed, flailing agressively.
Lin jumped at the scream, the flame in his hand flaring up for a second and singeing the tips of his bangs. "Christ! Don't do that!"
"IT'S NOT MY FAULT!" Orion stumbled backward, still trying to peel the cobweb from her body.
"Calm down! It's just some cobwebs, jeez…" Lin helped Orion free herself from the cobwebs and huffed a bit. "Watch where you're going, alright?"
She shivered. "I'm trying. I'm trying." She rubbed her arms. "Okay. Let's go."
Lin nodded a bit and carried on, bringing his flame back to a reasonable size. "Keep close to me. We don't know what might be here."
"I'm not scared of that. It's the spiders that are freaking me out." She grabbed his arm and followed him. "I can't stand the thought of them."
"I know, I know… we'll be fine, though. I doubt there's a lot of food here for them to survive, anyway." Lin shrugged and looked around curiously.
