Well, now that he knew the prince's thoughts…
"Well isn't that obvious? I'm not really good with politics, but it seems like he's gone- What's the phrase? Angry with power? Something along those lines." Amari mostly muttered those last ones to himself, this wasn't his first language so it was still hard to pick up phrases.
"That's one way to put it." Jasper muttered. "My father has been consumed by anger and grief. He is no longer a good man. He does whatever he wants now, to revenge my mother. And when they told him it was an inside job, he murdered them and continued with his war, still believing it was them. He kills anyone who disagrees with him. And anyone with a brain knows im first on his list. He just doesn't know how to do it without the blame being pinned on him."
"Well that one's easy, hire a deserter from the other side, would make it seem like it was the other kingdom and he would be able to use that as fuel for the war." He may not know politics, but Amari did know killing.
(Is it bad that I didn't even have to think about that solution-)
Jasper rolled his eyes. "I'll set you up a meeting with my father and you can discuss my death plot." He unraveled his bandages from earlier amd tossed them in the trash. The small liaisons now scabbed over.
"Oi! Don't throw those away, they can be washed then used again!" Amari scolded unconsciously, he always had to scold his siblings back home about the same thing and the subconscious urge just never went away.
"You know i could have your tongue for speaking to me in such away. Its a good thing i like you. There's a good reason i go through guards like i do my women." Jasper smirked and added a wink for good measure.
"You don't need to like me, you need to not waste resources. I understand that this war is needless but that doesn't make the injured and dead any less real." Amari snapped, not even going to try and understand the other things he had said. He cleared his throat. "Ahem, apologies."
Jasper studied the guard before him. "No you're right, they are very real. And it could have been easily avoided."
Amari said nothing at first, digging the bandages out of the trash bin. He spoke after a minute or so of thought, he really didn't want to get his head cut off. "I believe you had already expressed that. What are you doing about it though?"
"There's nothing I can do. Not unless I decide to overthrow the government. I would be dead before I could even think to plan that." Jasper had begun to speak again when there was a knock on the door. Giving permission, a maid walked in with a cart, his dinner.
