slides into this one too
Hi!
Hi
I'm super intrested!!
Sweet. Do you want to do a form or do you want to jump right in?
And I'll get you a backstory real quick.
Uhhhh, getting right in is always easier.
Plus it's like,,, almost midnight here I don't have the brain energy to write out a form
All was well in the world. There was peace for the first time in decades. Trade was well and wealth was increasing in the land. The king and queen had a beautiful baby boy, the join of the kingdom. Then tragedy struck. The queen was killed. Blinded by rage and sorrow, the king declared war on their neighboring kingdom. The war raged on for twenty years with no end in sight. The king had grown cold, a heartless killer. And his son, the sweet baby boy had turned into a sarcastic prince. He threw fits in rage and was known to the public as a spoiled brat. But no one knew the truth. No one.
I totally get that. I prefer jumping in, it helps keep the mystery.
Ooooh!!!
Would you like me to start? Or do you have any questions?
Hmm, I would be playing the guard? And I would've been the guard for quite a while?
Yes
Fabulous! Can you start?
Totally. Just give me a little bit to write a starter
Jasper Castel, the only heir to the throne. The sweet baby boy had grown hard at his father's hands. His mother's death had broken him but no one dare question the king's sanity, else they found themselves without a head. The once loved king had turned into a tyrant, forcing war and poverty on the nation. A war which had no end in sight. The people resent the royal household but they were frightened to stand up and overthrow them. Everyday Jasper prayed for their courage to do so. If they banded together, it would be easy to do so. But alas, they were too afraid of his father to do anything. Not that they would listen to Jasper if he ever spoke out. He was a spoiled boy known for his tongue and his tantrums. The servants would whisper rumors about it and soon the whole kingdom knew of their temperamental crown prince. Their version was so far off from the truth, but he didn't dare to correct them. There was no point, they wouldn't listen anyways.
Jasper walked the long hallway back to his room, quietly seething. He didn't understand the point of inviting him to council meetings and into war rooms if no one would listen to him. What did a spoiled prince know hmm? Nothing apparently, even though he had many tutors growing up and had studied more than most of them. What did it matter? Nothing. Nothing ever mattered, not when it came to him anyways. He slammed the door shut behind him, rattling the paintings on the wall. He walked to the small dining table in the middle of his rooms, hunching over as he breathed heavily. With a sharp cry, he swept everything off the table. Glasses shattered, food spilled, the center piece destroyed. He murmured a curse as he bent down and started to clean his mess.
Amari Winters, loyal guard and pretty much the prince's babysitter at this point, stood at the door, having been posted right inside the prince's rooms. "Would you like help with that, Your Highness?" He asked, not moving from his position yet.
Jasper dumped the glass on the table, breathing hard as he pucked a couple shards out of his hand. "No, no, just send in a maid to clean it up." He rinsed the blood off in his batgroom, patting his hands dry with a towel.
"Don't move and I'll go get some bandages. I'll clean the rest up." Amari tsked and rolled his eyes, this happened often enough that he kept a small bag with bandages and salve in it with his equipment. "What happened to make you angry this time?" He asked as he got out the supplies.
Jasper leaned back and watched him, rolling his eyes. He was fine, honestly. He didn't need Amari to take care of him. Not that the guard would listen to him anyways. His orders came from his father. And anyone would rather piss off the prince than the king. "What does it matter? Talking about it isnt going to change a thing." He spit out.
"How do you know?" He countered, walking briskly toward Jasper and taking his hand. Amari gently applied the salve and wrapped the bandage around the prince's hand. "It's not like you're going to tell anyone else, I'm the one who is by you almost every minute."
Jasper glanced at his guard before turning his head to focus on other things. "Its the same as always. I can't do anything to change it." He yanked his hand back once it was wrapped. He pushed away and strode into his bedroom. "Inform the kitchen I'll be taking dinner in my rooms."
"Alright." Amari shrugged, he honestly wasn't paid enough to deal with Jasper's tantrums when they were directed at him and so he didn't follow. He folded up the rest of the bandages and slipped it into the bag neatly alongside the salve container. Amari set the bag down and stepped out into the hall, finding a servant and asking if she could tell the kitchen that the prince was going to eat in his rooms tonight. He didn't add that it was because he was being moody, again, no matter how much he wished too.
Jasper walk over to his windows. He leaned against the window seal, looking outside. He cracked open the window, breathing in the fresh air. Everyday he longed to leave, to be free. He didn't want to be the king. His own father didn't want him to be king, that much was clear. It was a matter of time, he knew. He just didn't know how much time he had left. He decided not to dwell on it as he opened all the windows. He knew the maid would have a cow, he coukd be letting in anything. But until they glued it shut, he would open them whenever he wanted. He discarded his boots and his shirt. He crawled into bed, a book on his lap, and began reading.
Amari entered the prince's quarters, taking up his place at the door again with a sigh. He still couldn't believe he was still on prince duty, or babysitting duty as everyone in the guard called it. He'd been the prince's bodyguard for a while now, since he had gotten out of basic training.
