"Do you have any siblings?" Tonakee asked coming to a stop under a big maple tree.
"Do you have any siblings?" Tonakee asked coming to a stop under a big maple tree.
Tempest laughed. "I have three older brothers. I'm the only girl and the youngest. It sucks."
"I have one brother, I'm the youngest to. Though my brother was gone for half my life," Tonakee sighed. "He's back now so that's good."
"That sucks," Tempest sympathized. "Did you ever get to know him?"
"For a little bit, we don't get a lot of time to talk where we are. To many things to fix," Tonakee grinned. "I did get to pull the best prank ever on him."
Tempest turned to her. "What was it? I could use some ideas."
"It took so long to put together and I had help from like forty people," she explained. "Pretty much I made myself into a statue and stood right outside his house. Anytime he asked someone where the statue came from they would shrug and walk away. Then when he decided to move it I asked him not to. He panicked and fell backwards, because the statue talked."
Tempest snorted. "That is beautiful. One time I put an air horn right behind the door to one of my brother's bedroom doors, and then when he opened it it blared super loud."
Tonakee laughed. "Reminds me of the time a let a baby dragon into his room. It took him an hour to get it out," she forgot that she wasn't home, and realized to late what she'd said.
Tempest laughed. "A baby dragon? What kind? I know that earth dragons are very good at camouflaging themselves."
Tonakee relaxed realizing that Terry knew about the 'supernatural.' She smiled. "I found a fire dragon. My brother had burned hands for a week."
Tempest chuckled. "I almost feel bad for him."
"I don't," Tonakee gave a giggle. "He got me with a snake, which he knows will scare me because I can't see them."
Tempest started. "You're blind?"
"Oh, sorry I forgot you didn't know, yeah I've been blind my whole life," Tonakee explained.
Tempest nodded, the realized that she couldn't see her. "Oh. Sorry about my reaction. It just startled me."
"That's fine, it's a better reaction than most people. They usually start treating me like I can't do anything, which is annoying because I can usually do more than they can. Only because of my job though," she took a small breath. "Do you have a job?"
Tempest shrugged. "Eh, you could call it that. I have a brother that's mute, so I kind of get it. And my dad is deaf."
Tonakee gave another sigh and sat down in the grass. "So, are you able to tell me your real name, or do you have to stay under cover?" she asked remembering that the name she'd given before wasn't real.
Tempest smiled slightly. "Perceptive. I'm Tempest. I'm a siren."
"Cool, I've never met a siren before," Tonakee cooed. She picked up a stick that was near her, pulled out one of her daggers and began widdling it. "By the way when I said I'm from light years away, I wasn't joking, I would be what's known here as an alien. But really I'm an elf."
"Really?"
"Yep," she replied. "What about you? Are you from a different planet?"
"No," Tempest said. "I'm from the ocean."
"That's so cool, I love the smell of the ocean," Tonakee gasped. "Hey, can you hear it from here?"
Tempest nodded. "I can always hear it, no matter how far away. I draw my strength from it, and the farther from it that I am, the weaker I get."
Tonakee nodded in understanding, then she stood up, sheathing her dagger. "Done," she said holding a little wooden heart. An odd swirl like symbol was etched in the middle of it. She held it out to Tempest smiling. "I like you and want to keep in touch," she explained. "If you ever want to get together or you need help just press your finger on the middle and say please. If I'm not busy I can meet you back here."
Tempest took it, smiling. "Thank you. I'll be sure to get in touch." She gave the woman a quick hug, then said, "I can see if you can come to the sea palace sometime."
"That would be amazing!" Tonakee grinned. "I don't think you'd be able to come to my world though. Seeing as how it is a long way from any ocean."
Tempest sighed. "Oh well." She perked up. "Well, what if I put some ocean water in a bottle and take it with me? That might work."
