He sighed and stared at the floor as Variana turned to her father instead of him. Another reminder of the mistake he made that cost him his love. "I can help you Variana, you don't have to harm anyone. Take me instead and let her go." Gesturing to his mother "please, I'm begging you, she has nothing to do with this."
"If I can't have my father, I will take what is most dear to you."
"then you have taken the wrong person. Yes it's true, i love my mother dearly, to death in fact." He knelt beside the queen "but it is not her that I would go to the ends of the world for, it is not her that I would to hell and back for. And it is not her that I am willing to die for" he looked at Variana speaking truthfully "if you let her go, than I will help your father."
"It's too late, Finn. This never would have happened if you'd just helped me when I asked."
"I'm trying to help you now Variana. I know I messed up in the past but I'm trying to fix that now. Why can't you see that?" He looked into her eyes, a silent plea for her understanding
"Because…Because you broke my heart," Variana said softly.
He stood and walked towards her, only a few feet away before he stopped "then let me fix it, let me into your soul again andlet me love you, heal you, help you and your family. I want to make things right Variana, but I can't do that if you don't let me."
"Don't come any closer. You are the only one who can free my father, and you refused."
"am I refusing now?" He stopped but continued to look at her
"That isn't the point."
"so what is Variana? Tell me so we can end this fight between us and help your father." He so badly wanted to run up to her hold her close, assure her that everything would be fine and help her father, I'd only she let him closer
"You should have helped me when I asked," Variana said, grabbing the closest thing. "You shouldn't have let your duties get in the way of me." Finn didn't know it, but the item in Variana's hand had importance.
"I didn't how, I wanted to but I'd don't know how, so instead of being useless to you and to everyone around me, I desided to try to do something, anything to find a cure for your father, while at the same time appeasing my kingdom." He looked at her, then at the object in her hands "what's that?" He said softly
Variana looked at it. "Something that will help me bring pain and suffering to you and you family."
"leave them out of this, love. hurt me, torture me, heck even kill me. But leave my family out of this, they have nothing to do with any of this."
Variana shot a look at Finn, shoved past him and walked outside.
He turned in place "where you going love?" He made a move to follow her, but glanced back at his mother
Not caring if Finn saw, Variana broke the object in half. Standing with her feet shoulder width apart, she dropped the halves onto the ground either side of her.
He stood a few feet behind her "what are you doing…." He was so close to her "please love come home to me"
Pointed stones rose up from where Variana had dropped the halves, glowing blue.
Finn's eyes widened "no love, not this, there are other ways Variana!" He knew she couldn't or wouldn't listen to him
"You don't know what I'm capable of. Get away from me," Variana hissed, right as she grabbed the stones.
"NO!" He grabbed the other stone not know what would happen but also not caring. "You think I can leave you That easily? After everything we've been through, you think I'm going to leave you so simply? Well I hate to break it to you love, but you can't get rid of me." He smiled as a wave of electricity coursed through him "I will always and forever be by your side, even if it means killing myself for you." He said through the pain
Variana ignored him. She knew that he would have no power over the stones, as they only responded to her. Sending more stones in the direction of the castle, she tried to distract Finn and the kingdom by destroying the village and parts of the castle. She needed him gone for what she was going to do.
"what are you doing?!" The castle and villages were going up in flames while Finn stood their hopeless and in pain "why?" He whispered "why? You know I'm not leaving your side love so why?"
"You need to leave, Finn," Variana said. "I'm doing this for me. I need to save my father. Since you won't do it, I have to do it myself."
"I told you, I'm not leaving you, or your father. I did this, now I need to fix it." He absorbed another wave of electricity , panting in exhaustion "so how do we do this?"
"You don't do anything," Variana said. She made a stone rise up so that Finn's hand let go. She made more rise so that he was pushed back and then trapped. "I need to do this for myself."
"no you don't, Im the one to blame for this. If I help you before, none of this would happen! Please love don't do this without me." He pounded on the wall in front of him, sending electric waves Everytime he made contact. "Please," he begged "don't do this on your own."
Variana ignored Finn. She sent stones towards her father, incased in amber, and started to pound against the amber with them.
