Variana was persistent. As tears welled in her eyes, she saw slow chips of amber breaking away. She pounded it with more stones.
His eyes hardened as he looked from Variana to her father. He hated himself, hated himself so much. "You didn't have to do this," gesturing towards the destruction around them. He started tapping the wall, getting electricuted everytime. His mother’s wails would nkt stop him, no one could now
Variana's face hardened as the stones pounded harder and faster, not stopping until the amber broke and her father was free. She started to take her hands away. Without the stones powering her Variana collapsed, drained of energy.
He sighed, waiting to be released from his electric prison
The stones started to lose their charge and disappear from not having Variana to power them.
Without the charge of the stones, the wall disappeared. He crouched down near Varian and took her head in his lap "I told you, you foolish, ignorant, beautiful, feirce girl." He smiled sadly down at her and set her down gently. He took out the mechanism the alchemist boy had given to him and attached it to the crumbling peices of Amber. It spidered out around and glowed, needing power from the stones to work. He picked up a dimming stone and stuck it in the port. Almost immediately the machine started to crack away at the rock. Once the rock was chipped away, variana's father broke free. Finn caught him by the arm and set him down gently next to his daughter. Finn gave both variana and her father a potion to help them wake up along with a note. I told you I would help, love, you know where to find me. Your love forever, Finn Finn got on his horse along with his mother and rode away to the burning kingdom.
Slowly, Variana began to wake up. Her breath heaved as she broke off part of a stone and shoved it into the locket she always wore around her neck. She then started to feel more rejuvenated.
Finn helped his mother to her room to rest. "I'll take care if it" he smiled at her as she closed her eyes. He left the room silently and began calling orders "get those who are hurt or injured down to the doctor's immediately, they are our top priority. Those who are available to help, get blankets and water."
Variana then spotted her father lying on the ground. "Father!" She yelled running over to him.
"your highness, the fires are out and there were no casualties." A guard reported. "Good, thank you Jason you may go." Finn said, half distracted by his thoughts. Will they be ok? Did she get my note? Will she forgive me? The last one was a stretch but he was hopeful
"Ana," Eugene smiled. Her was weak but living.
"Are you OK?" Eugene reached up and brushed hair away from his daughter's face.
"I'm fine."
He continued to pace his room as he waited, waited for what, it wasn't like she was going to send a note to him or anything. He sighed and went to bed
As Eugene sat up, Variana wrapped him in a hug. "I'm so sorry, dad," She whispered.
"Why?"
"If it wasn't for my experimenting, you never would have gotten trapped in that amber."
He slept restlessly the entire night, not being to get his mind off Variana and her father
"You could not have known," Eugene said, then gave off a great coughing fit.
"You're sick, Father. Now more than before."
Finn woke in the late hours of the morning. He went to the armory to train. Taking off his shirt for better mobility, he grabbed a sword and started to go through combat moves, slashing at the dummy in the center of the room
