Mel tilted his head slightly as he paid some attention to washing every surface of Nick's body, starting from his neck and shoulders and then moving onto his chest, mindful of the wound across his torso. "Why wouldn't I, my love? You're beautiful inside and out. Sure you've made mistakes but who here hasn't? You've learned and grown so much just by being here, by wanting to understand how this works, the rebellion, Abrose's true intent, and me. You've given us a chance and you've shown you're willing to change for the better. What could I possibly not love about you?" He met Nick's gaze, fondness and adoration in his eyes. He gave a laugh and shook his head. "I am anything but refined, especially in my past taste in men. But there was something about you that I couldn't quite let be and now we're here." He murmured, leaning in close and letting his lips graze over Nick's neck as he spoke. "You capture my attention every every waking and sleeping moment, my love." He grinned, trailing a light hand over Nick's skin. "You poor thing. Soon sweet love. Tonight is just a taste of what's to come, I promise." He glanced up, his eyes mirroring that same repressed desire. He reached up and pressed a kiss to Nick's lips. "You're mine, mine to love, to cherish, to desire, to proudly call my own and know that no one else can have you." He vowed softly, gently tugging Nick's arm to guide him into the water. As much as he loved the shower, Mel's body was begging to lie down, he was ready to sleep for a very long time.

Abrose smiled softly and pressed a kiss to Easton's cheek. "always, my love." He reassured, setting aside the washcloth to massage Easton's shoulders and back, using a homemade oil that soothed the muscles. "I'm sure they do. Perhaps something closer to what Ezra is. A second for a lord perhaps. I'm not sure if theres an established kingdom here but there has to be city security in town. We can look when we go into town and ask around. Maybe someone will know something about jobs." He mused, smiling softly and carefully moving onto more sensitive areas near the neck and collarbone. "Would you be working? Or will you be constantly distracting me?" He teased, tilting Easton's chin up and giving him a pointed look. "I wouldn't mind you staying here and working with me though. I don't know how comfortable you'd be around the plants though. I'd rather you work somewhere you're comfortable my love." He murmured, leaning into Easton's hand and letting out s sight wine at being pinched. "Of course I do love. This has been a huge change for the both of us. I want to make sure you're okay." He said shyly, rinsing Easton off and hugging him close, just resting his head against his lover's back, breathing in his clean smell and listening to his heartbeat.

Nick chuckled softly, the sound echoing lightly in the tiled bathroom. "I know, I know, my love," he replied, his tone affectionate. With a final rinse, he turned off the shower, the steady stream of water ceasing as he stepped out onto the bath mat. "Bedtime, perhaps?" Nick suggested, extending a hand to guide Abrose out of the shower. Nick reached for a plush towel hanging nearby, draping it gently over Abrose's shoulders. "There we go, all cleaned up," he murmured, a smile playing at the corners of his lips. Turning to retrieve his towel, Nick quickly dried himself off before slipping into his pajamas. Once fully clothed, he returned to the mirror to attend to his damp hair, vigorously towel-drying the strands until they were mostly dry. He put on a lotion that helped add moisture and hydration to his face. With a satisfied nod, Nick glanced back at Abrose, a warm expression softening his features. "Ready for bed, my dear?" he asked, his voice laced with affection as he held out a hand to Abrose, ready to lead the way to their cozy sanctuary.

Easton's heart fluttered at Abrose's words, a warm glow spreading through him at the affectionate nickname. He gently pressed his hand against his chest, trying to steady the rapid beat. Simple gestures of affection never failed to touch him deeply, reaffirming his significance to someone else. "I appreciate your concern, my dear," Easton replied, his voice soft with gratitude. "Change can be challenging, but with you by my side, I believe I can weather any storm." Turning his attention to Abrose, Easton reached out to touch his hand, his expression filled with genuine concern. "And how are you holding up? If any aspect of this arrangement makes you uncomfortable, please don't hesitate to speak up. Your comfort is just as important to me as mine." He chuckled softly, a hint of self-awareness in his tone. "It seems I've developed a habit of worrying about others, perhaps a remnant from my days as the queen's right-hand man. Always responsible for everything, it's become second nature to me."

@Fenrir

Mel wrapped himself in the offered towel and took Nick's hand to steady himself as he stepped out of the shower. As compelling as the warmth from the shower was, Mel knew the warmth from their bed was better and he was eager to rest. "Bedtime," he agreed, occupying himself by drying himself off and tugging on his pants and robe. "I've been ready since Roi got here." He joked, using the towel to dry off his hair, deciding to let the rest air dry. at worst it would fluff up in the morning which he could deal with later. Mel tugged open the door to the bedroom and hurried over to the bed, the room having dimmed into calming darkness, only enough golden light to be able to vaguely see outlines of furniture and walls. Mel tugged aside the covers before immediately settling into bed and cocooning himself in warmth, leaving space for Nick. He slowly let himself settle into the bed's comfort, feeling all the tension and strain from his body leave him as he let himself relax for what felt like ages.

Abrose paused in his task and pressed a kiss to Easton's hand. "Of course my dear. you've done so much for me, how can I not do the same for you?" Abrose gave a slight shrug and shook his head. "I'll admit it's taken a while to get used to living here. I miss Mel and the rest. I missed my little cottage and my family's grave but I know they'd be proud of me for moving on and loving you. I'll be more at ease when Mel is over here but for now, it's been quite the adjustment. You've done more than enough to help the transition, thank you, my love." Abrose shook his head and reached out to gently touch Easton's cheek. "You are nothing like the fae I first ran into on my way back home. You're compassionate, and kind. You think with your heart and have remorse for people around you, something absent from the person I used to know. She has no hold over you anymore, Easton." he reassured, pressing a kiss to his brow. "after all, you didn't turn me in. Something has had to change for you to make that decision, for you to be here with me now. And I'm immensely proud of you for that."

"Agreed," Nick murmured, his voice in agreement as he emerged from the steam-filled bathroom. With a languid stretch that seemed to release every tension in his body, he settled beside Mel, his movements slow and deliberate. Drawing Mel close, Nick's arm wrapped around him possessively as if seeking to encompass him entirely in the warmth of his embrace. The touch of Mel's skin against his sent a shiver of contentment down Nick's spine, a sensation akin to sinking into a cocoon of warmth after a long, chilly day. As he tenderly caressed Mel's hair, each stroke felt like a gentle whisper of affection, his fingers tracing patterns of love and comfort. With a gentle kiss pressed to Mel's forehead, Nick whispered his goodnight wishes, his words carrying a deep emotion that lingered like a soft melody. Closing his eyes, Nick allowed himself to sink into the sensation of Mel's presence, the warmth of their shared space enveloping him like a soft blanket on a cool evening. With each breath, he felt the weight of the day's trials melting away, replaced by a profound sense of peace and contentment.

Easton felt his eyes start to tear up, and his nose twitched. Quickly, he sniffed and wiped under his nose to stem the flow of tears. "Thank you, darling," he said, his voice thick with emotion. Unable to contain his gratitude, he wrapped his arms around Abrose in a tight hug, squeezing him tightly. "I think it's time to get out now. I feel my fingers starting to resemble prunes," he joked, attempting to lighten the mood as he felt the water starting to take its toll on his skin. "But at the same time, it's so warm and soothing being like this with you." He stood up slowly, allowing the water to fill the bathtub and releasing the water displacement. Then, extending his hand towards Abrose, he pulled him up into a gentle embrace. He felt his stomach grumble against Abrose's, causing him to chuckle slightly. "I think it's time my stomach also gets some food, and I don't mind helping you with the tea. I'm going to have to learn it one day. What if you're sick and need tea to freshen you up? I can't have you getting out of bed in such a condition." He pressed a kiss to abrose's nose before exiting the bathtub. Once Abrose was out, he drained the bathtub and then went to fetch the towels.

@Fenrir

Mel watched from his spot in bed as Nick gloriously stretched before slowly making his way to bed, immediately wrapping Nick in his embrace. Mel easily gave into the secure hold and loving murmurs, nestling his head against Nick's neck and idly tracing patterns on his back while he listened to his soothing heartbeat and low sleepy voice in his ears. "Sweet dreams, my love." With one final kiss and a few minute shifts to get impossibly closer, Mel settled against his lover for much-needed sleep. It wouldn't be until late afternoon when Mel awoke slightly from his deep slumber to a light knock on his door for dinner, and even then Mel was still heavy with exhaustion and the desperate need for sleep that all he managed was a mumble of an apology and the promise to eat later. He also silently promised to do something for Esther later for her added efforts in trying to feed them this late after their normal time for dinner.
For half that day and a good portion well into late next morning Mel slept like the dead, barely moving even as Veda poked his head in to check on them after breakfast. Mel only roused from his sleep when the sun's brightness peeked through the part in the curtain a bit too strongly to keep him asleep for much longer, that and the need for food seeing as he had skipped dinner and breakfast and hadn't eaten much the day before.

Abrose's brows creased in concern before he was swept into Easton's arms. "You have nothing to thank me for, my dear. You did all that on your own." He murmured, squeezing Easton until he was ready to let go. He let out a soft laugh and nodded, his fingers having gone wrinkly a while ago but the warm water and intimacy of their bath were too irresistible to make him leave. "I think you're right. We do need food." He chuckled lightly before standing and taking Easton's outstretched hand to steady himself as he stepped out of the tub. "Don't jinx it!" Abrose giggled as he reached for the towel to dry himself off. "Though if I do end up getting sick I would be in good hands I'm sure." Once his hair was mostly dry he slipped into some day clothes, a deep purple tunic, and green linen pants he had come to favor over the months.

Nick had skipped dinner, courtesy of being a heavy sleeper. He felt Mel get up, waking him each time, but he waited for Mel to return and captured him in his arms whenever he settled back into bed. The following day, he woke up to the glare of the sun shining through the curtains, but instead of getting up as usual, he shielded Mel from the light and turned his head into the pillow to protect his eyes. His arms were protectively wrapped around Mel, and his leg was up slightly, pulling Mel closer if possible. After a few minutes of laying there, his stomach started to rumble, and he sighed, releasing his hold on Mel only slightly. Then, he began to pepper Mel's facial features with kisses, whispering little messages in between. Phrases like "Time to wake up, my dear" and "I'm hungry" escaped his lips softly. "If you don't wake up, I'm gonna tickle you and make you wake up." he teased. "I know where all your favorite spots are."

"I won't, I won't," Easton chuckled softly as he followed Abrose out of the bathroom, momentarily taken aback by the sight of his partner. However, he quickly averted his gaze and began to dress himself, his mind racing with playful ideas. "You would be in very good hands. I mean, I could give you massages, and if I learn to cook, then I would be the ultimate partner, wouldn't I?" he mused, methodically arranging his clothing with practiced ease. "Watching you never fails to captivate me, my love," he remarked, stepping closer to Abrose and encircling his waist with his arms, careful not to disturb the carefully arranged outfit. "And your smile is simply infectious," he added, planting a light kiss on Abrose's cheek before opening the door and leading them out of the bedroom they had shared for the past few hours. "I have a feeling today is going to be wonderful," he declared, his tone brimming with optimism and excitement. "Now, which tea were you planning on making, or will it be a surprise?" He bowed his head lightly, signaling for Abrose to cross the doorframe. Old habits die hard.

@Fenrir

Mel had been aware for a while that it was beyond the time to wake up hours ago, but he was so comfortable and warm in Nick's embrace and he couldn't help but want to stay here for a bit longer. He gave an appreciative sleepy kiss to Nick's chest, reveling in the moment of peace, even if he was awake. This was how he imagined heaven to be, a warm morning after a good long rest, enveloped in heavy blankets and your lover's arms. Mel couldn't think of anything better. That was until he was playfully threatened with being tickled out of bed, though Mel couldn't lie, the prospect of food sounded too good to pass up. He giggled softly, capturing Nick's lips with his own, and holding his cheek steady to give a proper good morning kiss. "Unfortunately for you my dear, that is unnecessary." He kissed Nick's brow, working his hands through his hair to tame down the bed head while they adjusted to the morning light. "I'm starved, hopefully, Esther left something out. If not I fear we might have to fend for ourselves with what we find leftover in the kitchen." Mel wasn't a terrible cook, no one at the estate was thanks to Esther teaching them all but they all respected her clear passion for providing for others in the form of food and let her be in charge of each meal. "Let's see what we can find." He prompted gently, kissing Nick's cheek before reluctantly slipping out of bed. Quickly slipping into the robe he had abandoned last night before they had gone to bed, Mel tugged open the curtains to let in more warmth and took a moment to admire the beautiful day before retiring to the bathroom to freshen up before they ventured for brunch.

Abrose shook his head with a smile "You already are the perfect partner, my love." He reassured, reaching up and caressing Easton's cheek. "Though the massage and cooking does sound lovely. We'll have to save that for a rainy day when we're stuck here." he blushed at the compliments and reached up to press a kiss to Easton's jaw. "You're the reason for this smile, sweetheart." Abrose stepped through the door, gently taking Easton's hand and tugging him along, a silent request for him to join so that he no longer had to stay behind or wait for anyone now. However, he did take the rare opportunity where Easton was at his height to press a kiss to his lips. "I was thinking of a muscle-relaxing tea, especially after last night. the shower helped but I don't have much confidence that'll last long, especially if we're still planning on heading out later." He explained as he guided them to their kitchen. It wasn't that much bigger than the one abrose had had back in his little cottage but he didn't mind as it was more familiar. It'd be easier for him to keep stock of everything for the store in the future. He found his stash of tea bags and jar of loose-leaf tea blend and started to boil a pot of water on the fireplace. "Any requests for breakfast?" he asked over his shoulder as he measured out the right amount of tea to each of the bags and expertly tied them off.

Nick offered a tired smile, savoring the brief morning kisses before the lure of food pulled Mel from their embrace. He watched as Mel got up, keenly feeling the absence of his warmth, but he didn't linger on it, instead focusing on the prospect of breakfast. With his hair sticking up in all directions and his eyes still glossy with sleep, Nick rolled out of bed and followed Mel's path to the bathroom, moving with the languid grace of someone not fully awake. Without bothering to grab a robe, he leaned against the doorframe with a tired expression. "You didn't have to get up that quickly, you know," Nick complained softly, draping himself over Mel and resting his head on his shoulder. He let out a low groan before pressing a kiss to Mel's cheek. Grabbing his toothbrush, Nick began to brush his teeth while keeping his right hand around Mel's waist, seeking comfort in his presence. "As for cooking, I wouldn't mind whipping something up," he remarked between brush strokes, his voice muffled by the toothbrush. "I lived alone, so I was sometimes cooking for myself. I always felt bad relying on professional cooks, so I asked them to teach me a thing or two. Besides, everything they made seemed so delicious," he explained, rinsing his mouth and wiping his mouth on a nearby towel. "So, I wanted to learn how to make it too," he concluded with a satisfied smile, checking his teeth in the mirror. He then started to rinse his face with water to wake him more, resulting in another wipe, but the same towel he used to wipe his mouth was just on the other side. He didn't notice his hair and instead focused on waking himself up.

"A muscle-relaxing tea sounds wonderful, my love," Easton replied softly. "As for me, I'm quite flexible with my preferences. Whatever you decide to make, I'll gladly enjoy," he added, wrapping his arms around Abrose from behind and resting his head against the warmth of his neck. Despite the refreshing shower they had shared, Easton still felt a lingering sense of fatigue tugging at his limbs. Observing Abrose's skilled preparation of the tea, Easton marveled at the process. "So this is how you make tea," he mused with a smile. "I never realized the intricacies involved. The cook at my mansion must have endured quite a bit of trouble to prepare it," he remarked, reaching out to touch the teabags before hesitating and pulling his hand back. "Ah, let me fetch my gloves," he said, hurrying back to the bedroom to retrieve them. Returning to Abrose's side, he wrapped his arms around his waist once more before carefully handling the teabags. "You seem quite skilled at this. Do you make tea often?" he inquired, admiring Abrose's dexterity as he prepared their morning brew.

@Fenrir

"You threatened me by tickling me out of bed, my love. Besides, I am starving. Here I thought you were used to mornings." Mel teased, pressing a kiss to Nick's cheek and guiding him to the bathroom to freshen up. He stayed by Nick's side, even as they bruised their teeth and washed his face, letting the cool water wash away the drowsiness that still clung. "You cook dear?" he asked curiously, helping Nick to tame his bedhead. "You lived alone? I would have assumed you live with Easton or in the barracks with the other soldiers." He mused as he found a brush and sat Nick down on a nearby stool to gently work at his hair. "I'm sure they appreciated your interest. Spirits above know how many times a lord or lady has come up to me complaining or diminishing their staff's help. As if they're nothing more than the help, not people with families to feed." Mel rolled his eyes and shook his head in disgust and decided to focus on Nick cooking something nice before he yanked a little too hard on his hair out of frustration. "So what will be on the menu for today, my love?"

Abrose paused and looked Easton over before rummaging through his stash and pulling out another bundle of dried herbs and flowers as well as a seperate mortar and pestle. He added the dried ingredients into the bowl and started gently crushing the leaves and petals, just enough to break them into smaller pieces and open access to their flavors. Abrose nodded, "Yep, this isn't as complex as medicines or treatments but it deserves no less care and precision." He explained as he carefully poured the crushed content onto a square tea bag of paper. "Half the magic is in the process and intention behind the product. I don't use my magic all the time. Most of the time the purpose behind my work is what makes my remedies work so well. If I have ill-intent behind making my tea, for example, that'll translate into the fn=inal brew. It'll taste acrid and soured rather than sweet. To the untrained palate, that could be considered normal for herb teas, and a fatal mistake in some cases." Abrose shrugged and carefully tied off the little sache, making sure no large holes where the ground tea could escape from the bag while brewing was present. "I've never done anything to kill or even hurt anyone. I'm sure I could if I wanted to but my family wasn't known for dealing with that sort of thing. I didn't want to start even after what happened to them, whether it was justified or not, that wasn't my choice to make." He nodded, waiting until Easton came back to start on his tea, letting him poke and prod at the dried flowers and explore the differences between the whole dried plant and slightly crushed versions. He nodded, setting a few grams aside to sprinkle on his tea later before setting another tea bag. "It was one of the first things I learned how to make. I always liked the aspect of mixing different teas, combining their effects, or seeing how different flavors worked together was always a fun adventure." He explained, tugging himself free from Easton to bring over the boiling pot of water. Setting both tea bags into separate mugs, he poured in water to let them steep before returning to his lover's arms, passing him a cup of tea.

"I agree wholeheartedly, my love," Nick murmured, gently pressing his forehead against Mel's. He took a deep breath, preparing to answer the question. "Well, I would've moved to the capital, but it would have meant putting the people who worked for me out of a job. Besides, being in my home without noise from the guards or the city is nice. It's peaceful, away from everything. Considering my sensitive hearing, being in a place with many people socializing isn't the best idea." He turned, leaning his forearms on the countertop, and continued, "I could go on forever, but one big reason is that my hearing wasn't under control yet; my parents sent me somewhere quieter where I wouldn't be overwhelmed by noise and too many thoughts. I was about five when they moved me out, and I've lived independently ever since. I don't hate them per se; I just wish they had stayed. Now that I'm moving to another country, I won't get to see them, which pains me, but I have to do what I must. You know?" Nick sighed heavily, feeling a weight lift as he shared this part of his life with Mel for the first time. He took a deep breath before changing the subject. "Well, what do you feel like eating? I could make crepes, cut up some fruits, and whip some cream for us. If you have chocolate, I could drizzle on top once it's melted. Or I could keep it simple and make some French toast, pancakes, or waffles. Waffles are just crunchier pancakes, after all. So, in theory, I could make anything you want with what you have here. What do you prefer, dearest?"

Easton listens to Abrose quietly, taking the information. "I'm glad you made that choice. Otherwise, I would've had to arrest you. Quite a few people tried to harm the queen with poison, which always made me scared to be her assistant. I was never her assistant, but I never got to know any of them because often they would die because of the point people would attempt to feed the queen. She always made them try her drinks and food before she took a bite. A very dangerous woman, but I'm glad I'm no longer near her." He took the cup of tea with an inviting smile, put it to his lips, and sipped it. "Taste good, my dear." His thoughts wandered while he stared at the tea, spatially back to Mel and Nick, but also to wonder about the town and what it would be like. There were no clouds in the sky, only a warm sun. He smiled and chuckled to himself. "Today is going to be a good day. I can feel it."

@Fenrir

Mel's hands moved from fussing with Nick's hair to massaging his shoulders in what they hoped was comforting. "That must have been hard, growing up away from people, from your family, at such a young age," he murmured, gaze growing slightly distant as he tried to imagine how it must have been like growing up away from everyone. While Mel and his parents had never gotten along that well, them always having a certain vision for their son and being annoyingly loyal to the Queen, Mel made it an ever-difficult effort to visit them every few months, despite him constantly having to hide essentially about himself. As far as they and anyone else was concerned, he was an eclectic meaningless little lord who spent his days lounging about in his mansion, collecting and breaking hearts left and right. but regardless, Mel couldn't help but love them, even from far away. "We could visit your parents if you'd like before we leave." He offered, pressing a kiss to Nick's head. "I would love to meet them as well, if it's alright." a light blush rose to Mel's cheeks at how formal the request seemed. Despite his previous lovers, Mel never wanted to delve deeper into their relationship other than their surface-level fling. Other than meeting Esther before he and Roi got together, Mel hadn't ever cared.
"That all sounds absolutely delicious my love. However, I am leaning toward the crepes. We have lovely apples this season that I've been wanting to do something nice with." He mused dreamily, peppering Nick in kisses before tugging at Nick's arm to get him to stand up and begin their day.

Abrose grew quiet as he sipped his tea and leaned against the counter. "Glad to know so many people tried to poison her. A shame it was at the expense of so many lives." He murmured, blowing gently on his tea before taking a sip and nodding in satisfaction. As much as Abrose wished he would one day be the one to kill the one person who had caused him so much pain, Abrose would have sacrificed that for those still suffering under the queen's rule. "I want to go back one day. Not right now, or soon, but eventually. There are people who still need help. Maybe we can get closer to the capital and help people there too." He tapped his mug, lost in his planning. "And I'm sure Mel would want to keep up the rebellion from here." He noted, glancing up and smiling at his partner. They were safe and for once in their lives free. Abrose didn't need to worry about going back. They could create a life here without fear, love each other, and be happy for once. But in the back of his mind, Abrose knew he'd be thinking of the people who were still back in the kingdom who were struggling just like he was, possibly even worse without help, help they could potentially provide. He reached up and pressed a kiss to Easton's cheek. "Of course it will be, my love. After a beautiful morning spent like this, what else could come of the day if not perfection?"

@rui group

"Crepes it is, then." Nick let Mel tug at him, a soft smile forming on his lips as his thoughts drifted to his parents. He could almost see the scene in his mind—introducing them to the person who had brought so much joy and meaning into his life, someone he truly wanted to spend forever with. But then, his smile faltered, and a frown took its place. "My parents," he began, his voice tinged with regret. "They live in the capital. It would be too dangerous. As much as I can't stand being apart from you, what's worse is the thought of you being trapped there to aid me in my escape. The whole capital knows my face. Yes, I was a knight, but I was a knight that everyone knew. I would hate for you to be arrested or worse." He sighed heavily, his brows knitting together in worry. "I would love for you to meet them too; I just can't risk it. Maybe we could return in a few years when things calm down." He smiled and changed the subject, "Besides, I know my parents would love you. They love me, and I love you, so they'll love you." They walked to the kitchen, and he smiled, forgetting how big it was. He never thought he would say this, but he liked having Easton around. He could go to him for advice about things more importantly, Easton was Nick's only friend from the capital he could talk to. There is a deeper bond by itself. "Okay…direct me to where I can make my breakfast masterpiece." Nick placed his hands on Mel's waist and tugged him in for a kiss on the cheek.

Easton looked at Abrose and laughed softly. "After everything we've experienced, you still want to go back. You always want to help people. I love that about you." He leaned into the kiss on the cheek from Abrose, feeling the warmth and comfort it brought. "I would want to go back too, you know—see my old home, visit old friends, and see how they're doing. I get it to an extent. If you want to return, just let me know, and I'll do my best to aid you in your rescue efforts. Besides, it would be a shame for other people not to enjoy themselves as we are. Everyone deserves happiness in some way. Well, maybe not the Queen, but you know what I mean." He held the cup delicately in his hands, swirling the tea around in a circular motion. "I'm sure you'd also want to see your old shop. I feel like we left in a hurry, no? People must be wondering if you're okay. I feel bad. Most of this is my fault. But…it's in the past. The only thing to do is move on and make up for past mistakes by making new accomplishments. "

@Fenrir

(possibly do something with Mel or Nick where they get captured somehow by the queen? just a bit of tension before the big move. Was thinking Mel does something reckless as a final hurrah by himself and gets either one captured, or keeps going with the meeting the parent's idea and they tell the queen somehow of their whereabouts, not understanding Nick changed :3)

"My love," He chided teasingly as he led them both to the kitchen, "I thought you would have learned by now I am a master at getting myself out of the trouble I put myself into." He tugged Nick close and pressed a kiss to his creased brow. "But I do understand your concern, especially being so close to getting out of here and being free." He stroked the back of Nick's hand with his thumb and gently tilted his lover's chin up to meet his gaze. "We'll figure out something, if not now then perhaps later. Regardless I want to meet your family one day. You've met mine after all." He offered a small smile and leaned in for a kiss before breaking away to find baking ingredients and equipment they'd need to make breakfast. "I can start cutting up some berries if you want to start the crepes." Mel grabbed a cutting board and a knife from where Esther kept them neatly hung on the wall of the kitchen. "I think there should be some berries left over in the gardens." He mentioned, also finding a basket and a pair of gardening sheers.

Abrose nodded in agreement, feeling a bit of shame for barely taking into consideration how the patients who did depend on him would fare after he had left so suddenly. He paused drinking his tea, the ache in his heart he had been so careful not to acknowledge growing slightly at the mention of his beloved shop. "I don't think we can. There wouldn't be anything to go back to." He replied softly, welcoming the heat of the tea to push back down the sadness and anger brewing inside him. Somehow deep inside Abrose knew the moment Mel had come back to the estate his home was gone, as much as he had tried to cover it up with reassurances and white lies, Abrose wished Mel had just told him what had truly happened to his little cottage and shop. By now Abrose had figured it out, but with all the stress of moving him and Easton out of the continent and finally settling in a place of their own, Abrose hadn't had time to grieve what he had left of his family. He shook his head, gathering his thoughts and emotions and he reached for Easton's free hand. "I regret nothing, my dear. Well, the lying in the beginning yes of course, but I would also argue that brought us closer together. I don't think I would have seen the loving and compassionate side of you if we were truthful with each other from the very start." He set his bug of tea down and hugged Easton around his waist, his head falling against his chest. "you're right, we can make up for it. We'll do as many first dates as it takes to get it right. We'll keep making our home here and soon we'll have Mel and Nick beside us all safe and sound. We'll find jobs, make new friends, all without needing to worry if we'll make it to tomorrow."

(I like the third idea the most cause I feel it would be able to flow better, and how we get them out will be a future problem. When that happens, should we keep going with Abrose and Easton's story or put it on pause? Can gay couples get married in this world? I feel like this time period is like when Bridgerton took place, but like less sexual)

"I know, I know. Maybe I'm overreacting," Nick said, exhaling deeply as he tried to steady his nerves. He turned towards the counter, scanning for ingredients to distract himself. "How about this? We can go, but we must be careful, like in and out. We won't be able to stay for too long, but we can still meet my parents before we're on our way." Nick smiled, hoping to convey his sincerity. "I don't want you to get the wrong idea and think I don't want you to meet my parents. It's just that I haven't had the chance to see them in a while, so it might be a little awkward just popping up on their doorstep like that. But nonetheless, I feel like they would be pleased to know I have someone I plan to share the rest of my life with." His hands were shaking, not from fear but from the overwhelming joy of having the people he loved most in one room. The anticipation of introducing his beloved to his parents made his heart race. "I don't want to keep you waiting," he said, his voice tinged with excitement. "Get whatever fruits you want, but if you have strawberries, get those. I love them, especially covered in chocolate…" He trailed off, his mind wandering to a delightful vision. "But then again, I like everything covered in chocolate."

Easton was surprised by the sudden embrace, almost spilling his tea. "Hey… it's okay to have regrets," he murmured softly, his voice a soothing balm. "I'd be more worried if you didn't have any. Regrets mean you cared, and that's important. I'm sorry for bringing it up so early in the morning. I didn't want to make you think about it now." He placed his palm gently on Abrose's head, feeling the softness of his hair beneath his fingers. Leaning down, he pressed a tender kiss on Abrose's head. "Even with regrets, I'm glad you chose to keep yourself safe." Easton gently pulled Abrose away, just enough to look into his eyes and kiss his forehead. "It's a lot to process. I've been worried, knowing how deeply you were attached to the town and noticing you haven't mentioned it since we arrived. I'm just glad you're okay." He pulled him back into a gentle embrace, holding him close but leaving enough space for Abrose to pull away if needed. "You know, it's perfectly fine to miss it all, to miss them," Easton whispered, his voice barely audible.

(That works! And yeah we'd probably pause. It is sort of like bridgerton in terms of setting with a bit more fantasy. Marriage is legal though not as highly regarded, the issue more lies with class and reputation. Mel is a lord but has a questionable reputation, known for his multiple relationships and open opinions so was maybe thinking that would be a problem when meaning the parents.)

Mel's gaze snapped up from where he had been focused on tugging on gardening gloves. "Wait really?!" He nodded furiously, quickly setting his things down to squeeze Nick in a tight hug. "That's fine, just a quick trip is more than enough. We'll plan for a longer visit once we've settled down a bit and gotten things in order." He planned, words coming out quickly as he nestled into Nick's neck and peppered him in 'thank yous' and kisses. "Of course, it'd be rude to show up unnancounced." He agreed, his face flushed with excitement and the prospect of meeting Nick's parents. He had never actually considered meeting any of his lover's parents. The closest family he had met with was when Esther came to stay with them after Roi had been introduced but other than that, he had never put much importance on meeting his lover's family, until now of course. "The rest of our lives sounds like a good idea, dear." He murmured, pressing a final kiss to Nick's cheek before pulling away and gathering his things again to go foraging for fruits. "I'll see what I can find." He promised, arching his eyebrow and giving Nick a grin. "I'll keep that in mind for another time, my love. Try not burn down Esther's kitchen while I'm gone."

Abrose let himself quietly sob against Easton's chest, flashes of memories of his mother and sister going up in flames mixing with what he imagined how his home had burned. Then they shifted to every possible horrible outcome. Him stuck inside the house, his patients, Mel, …Easton. He only peeked up when he felt Easton gently pull them apart. "I-i'm sorry for worrying you, love." He wiped his face with his sleeve and took a very deep breath, mustering the best smile he could even as he still felt like he could cry for hours. "We'll go back one day." He promised more to himself than anyone else. He wanted to see what remained of his home even if it was nothing and know that he had still made an impact. His own claims echoed in his mind from when he had first met Easton. His home and shop could crumble to the ground and he could be left with nothing yet he would still always help those who needed him. He let himself be pulled back into the embrace, finding comfort in his partner's secure hold. "I miss them everyday. I miss my job, my families, gods I miss even sneaking around the kingdom everyday." He admitted with a laugh, shaking his head at how rediculous that sounded but it was true. Abrose missed his home, his patients, gathering ingredients and sneaking out to parties with Mel. He nodded slightly, "I know." He replied equally as soft, gently caressing Easton's cheek. "You're allowed to miss them too. To miss your home, your job, Nick, you're family. I'm not the only one who gave everything up."

(gotchaaaaa that's pretty cool I'm currently on a vacation thing so for school)

Nick's eyes grew wide and his mouth felt like it was hanging open. Mel was magnificent as he laughed in the sunlight. He didn't know how he got that reaction from just a simple yes, but he never knew he needed that until now. "That was adorable," Nick laughed, gently placing his palm against Mel's cheek. "From now on, I'll never say no to anything you want to do, especially if you react like that!" Nick laughed as he was showered with little pecks, and he eagerly returned the favor, kissing Mel all over. "You're so cute when you're excited," he said, placing a tender kiss on Mel's lips. He looked into Mel's eyes, which seemed to shine with happiness. "I just can't believe someone as beautiful as you is in my life. If there really is a God, he did a good job. Your smile is so beautiful, and I love seeing you happy after everything we've been through." Nick wrapped Mel in a warm embrace, holding him as if the moment might vanish if he let go too soon. "I love you so much," he sighed, kissing him on the forehead one last time before turning back to the counter to gather ingredients. "Okay, okay, I'll let you go this time. I won't be burning anything down. Do you not trust my cooking skills?" he questioned playfully.

"No, no, don't be sorry. You didn't mean to. I just like seeing you when you're honest with yourself. You don't need to feel bad. I'm sure I've made you worry plenty of times." Easton shook his head and continued to rub Abrose's back, soothing him with gentle, circular motions. "Of course, we'll go back. I wouldn't know what to do if we didn't." He started swaying gently from side to side, his touch comforting. "Honestly, my family didn't really want me anyway. I was living all alone while they went off doing God knows what, just sending me money whenever I asked. It wasn't a lifestyle I missed. Sure, I miss the townspeople and protecting them, but I was a bit classist, so I don't really miss that aspect of it either." He laughed softly, trying to lighten the mood. "I'm glad you're finally letting those tears out. How long have you been holding those in?" Easton gently wiped the tears that wouldn't stop streaming down Abrose's face, his touch tender and caring. "Is it weird I find you cute when you cry?" he laughed gently kissing his cheek. "Take as much time as you need to cry. It's healthy you know."

@Fenrir

(Have fun!!)
"I've never seen you cook alone, who knows what you'll get into." He teased, "I love you more." Mel headed out to the gardens, hoping there were still some fruits to harvest. The gardens Abrose had set up were towards the back of the property near the pavilion. Close to the property stonewall was a flourishing blackberry bush, having overcome a small rose bush that had originally been there years ago. Mel decided to forage there first, knowing the bush would yield fruit no matter the season. He pulled off his glove, not wanting to bruise the delicate fruit. As he gathered the blackberries, Mel let his mind wander to the conversation from before. He would be meeting Nick's parents, not as some lover or one-night stand hookup but as his partner, someone Nick wanted to spend the rest of his life. He wasn't sure when the last time he was someone's partner rather than the other man. He was even kept a secret from Roi's family for the duration of their relationship until Esther came overseas. He wanted to be the best partner he could, someone Nick could be proud to present to his parents. Gasping softly, he pulled back his hand to find a thorn in his finger. He sucked at the blood and moved on in hopes of finding strawberries.

Abrose huffed a small laugh, "Yeah, a few times." He admitted softly, his mind wandering to when they had been captured and brought to the castle prison. Seeing Easton in chains and bloodied from struggling so much was horrifying. He hadn't felt that fear since he had lost his family. He swayed with Easton, pressing his face against his chest and finding comfort in his warmth and the small touches Easton offered. "I'm sure that's not true. They had to care at least a little bit. They made sure you were taken care of even if their methods weren't the best." He peeked up at Easton, gently pressing his palm to his cheek. "We'll go back when everything is better. You became a better person, who's to say the kingdom can't become a better place?" He laughed weakly, pressing into Easton's hand "Years probably, a good long cry has been a long time coming." He let his head fall back against Easton's chest, sniffling again to try and suppress more tears from spilling out. "Just a bit, but it's okay. I'm glad I can be myself around the person I love so much." He replied, his exhaustion catching up to him. Between last night and an emotional morning, Abrose was ready to go back to sleep. He nodded slightly and pressed a kiss to Easton's hand. "Thank you, my love." He murmured, gently pulling back and grabbing his mug to finish off his tea. "Any ideas for breakfast?" He asked with a deep breath, determined to have a better morning.

@rui group

"Yeah, I'll burn down the estate while I'm at it," he joked, a mischievous grin spreading across his face as he started mixing the ingredients. He let the pan warm up on the stove, spreading butter around the bottom before placing the premade crepes in. As they began to sizzle, he kept a vigilant eye on both the crepes and the door, his head whipping back and forth between them. With practiced ease, he flipped over one of the crepes and waited again, the aroma of cooking butter and batter filling the kitchen. This rhythm continued for about six more crepes until he finally finished, a stack of golden-brown perfection piled up before him. He sighed in satisfaction, wiping his brow dramatically. "There, not a single flame in sight. I'd say that's a success." He cleaned the counter from the mess of flour and leftover butter. He walked over to join Mel in the garden. "Hey, They're done; I only made six, so I hope that's enough. Oh, but if you have chocolate, can you show me where it is so I can melt it?" He called his hands together as if praying, "It would taste just divine." He looked down and saw a small cut on his finger. "What's taking you so long out here?"

"Of course, I'm always here. However…" Easton sipped the last of his tea and shook his head. "I have no ideas for breakfast. What are you thinking? We could always go into town and get breakfast there. They have twisted donuts here, and I have been dying to try them." He chuckled, grabbing a napkin so Abrose could dry his face correctly. "If you don't want to spend money, I'm okay with having breakfast here today. I want to inform you that you will be the one cooking as I am the best with food, like, at all." Easton leaned back against the counter, a playful grin spreading. "But if you decide to brave my cooking, I can promise an unforgettable experience—just maybe not in a good way, my dear." He laughed softly.

@Fenrir

Mel was bent over a wooden raised bed, focusing his attention on the far end of the bed where vibrant green vines cascaded over the edge. Mel had successfully found a few leftover strawberries amongst the vines and had plucked them with the utmost care. The basket was now at his side on the ground as he tended to the rest of the garden, finding comfort in pruning and fussing over something so delicate like he used to with Abrose. He glanced up and gave an apologetic smile. "Six should be more than enough, my dear. Thank you. I managed to find some strawberries. Esther always has a stash of chocolate somewhere, I'm sure she won't mind if a bit goes missing." he winked and followed Nick's gaze towards his hand. "Had a bit of a struggle with the bushes." He admitted, nodding back the blackberries. "and I might have gotten sidetracked. but let's head back now, I'm starving." he looped his free arm with Nick's and gently tugged him back towards the kitchen.

Abrose settled at a makeshift apothecary desk he used to make his stock of remedies and medicines, cradling his cup of tea and curling up on the cushioned chair, letting himself sink in its comfort. "I wouldn't mind going out for breakfast. We could explore the rest of the town after." he offered, gratefully taking the napkin and wiping his tears. "I'm not entirely sure I'm ready to brave your cooking, my love." he chuckled softly and smiled back. "Perhaps I'll request your unforgettable cooking once we've learned a few more recipes." He grinned back, shaking his head adoringly as he stood and set his empty mug in the sink to clean later. "I think I can only take one unforgettable experience from you at a time, my dear." he reached up and pressed a kiss to Easton's jawline. "Shall we find food?"

@rui group

"Those fruits look amazing; my mouth is practically watering," Nick exclaimed, clasping his hands together in anticipation of the delicious flavors coming together in the crepe. "Oh? May I ask what you got sidetracked by?" He smirked, a playful glint in his eye. "No, wait, let me guess. You were thinking about how awesome your boyfriend is because he can cook and knows exactly what you want, when, and how you want it?" He joked, letting go of Mel's arm so he could lay out the crepes. "Kidding, I only know those things when you tell me. I don't invade your headspace like that. But tell me, what is your beautiful mind truly distracted by that you managed to cut yourself?" Nick's tone softened as he asked, genuine concern mingling with his teasing. Nick snaked his hands around Mel's waist, placing the fruits on the counter. Nick kissed his cheek, and Mel's forehead soon covered him with little pecks trailing down his neck before coming back up and meeting his gaze with a grin.

"Oh really? Only one?" Easton chuckled, reciprocating the kiss with a gentle peck on Abrose's cheek. "Out for breakfast, it is." He reluctantly pulled away from Abrose and moved toward the doorway, grabbing his wallet and house keys. He slid his shoes on and opened the door, holding it wide for Abrose. "It feels like forever since I've visited a town and wasn't there to arrest anyone. I just hope that no one knows me here because I'm trying to do better, and my first step is to start off with a clean slate." He extended his hand towards Abrose. "With you by my side, of course." He could feel the warm sun on his skin from the open door. "Ah-it's so warm!"

@Fenrir

Mel couldn't help but giggle as he set the basket of fruits down by the sink to start washing them. "You distract me with your beautiful amazing self every day, my dear. It takes all my self-control and more to be productive each day and not locked away in our bedroom with you for days and nights on end." Mel shook off the strawberries and blackberries of excess water, carefully putting them in a nearby bowl for Nick to use in the crepes but not before he snuck a few into his mouth. He shrugged slightly, turning over his hand to inspect the injury, nothing more than a light scratch from the thorn bushes but usually, he was a bit more careful. "Other than the constant anxiety of moving without getting caught?" Mel couldn't help but break out into a little smile as he was peppered with affection, his hands resting on Nick's chest, the feeling of his heartbeat comforting. "I know I made a big deal that I wanted to meet your parents before we go, and I still very much want to but," Mel's gaze flicked away momentarily before he focused on his beloved sentinel. "I want to make a good impression but that's not really my forte. If they're in any way associated with the queen's court, I have no doubt they've heard of my trials in romance and I don't want them getting the idea that we're just another fling. You mean far more to me than just a brief lover and I want them to know that you're treasured and well loved even with everything going on around us."

Abrose let the bloom of blush show as he put boots on and grabbed a light sweater and basket for any shopping they'd do in town. "Maybe more than one." He muttered as he followed Easton through the front door. "It does feel nice," He agreed, tucking the house key safely in his pockets after locking the door. "I can't even remember the last time I was able to go out without needing to be worried about being caught." He smiled as he breathed in the late morning air, the earthiness from the nearby beds mingling with the lingering smell of rain from last night bringing a familiar comfort of home. "But of course," he grinned as he took Easton's hand, lacing their fingers together as they headed off towards the village. "It feels good, starting off with a clean slate, where you can control your life and make good impressions."

@rui group

"Hey… They are going to love you. All they want is for me to be happy." He took Mel's hand and raised it to his lips for a tender kiss. "Even if they don't, which is beyond impossible, I will make sure they see the Mel I see. A man who saved my life and who is so beautiful that I fell in love with him at first sight." He leaned in, brushing his lips against Mel's. "Someone who knows how to handle an estate," he mumbled against his lips, continuing the kiss between sentences, "and someone who I want to spend the rest of my life with regardless of what they say." He pulled away slightly, his fingers running through Mel's hair. "You say you're not good with first impressions, but I remember seeing you on a horse, yelling 'Get on!' while I almost died. I also remember you looking at me with a very specific look while my shirt was off. So, as far as first impressions go, you aced mine." He chuckled, rubbing Mel's arms gently. "But in all seriousness, you'll be fine. It's cute that you care this much, and if anything, it only makes me fall in love with you even more." He leaned back, looking into Mel's eyes with unwavering confidence and affection. "Trust me, they're going to see exactly what I see—a brave, kind, and extraordinary man. And if they don't, well, they'll have to get used to being wrong."

"Yeah…" he said, walking with his eyes toward the expansive blue sky, where a few wispy clouds floated lazily. Suddenly, a gasp escaped his lips. "Yeah, I don't have to follow rules from someone who actively wants me dead anymore. Who knew that controlling your own life could feel this liberating." He gently swung their intertwined arms. "I think going on a walk with someone and not feeling lonely is definitely on my mental bucket list. What about you? Is there anything you want to do that you maybe couldn't before? I'll do anything and everything in my power to make that happen, my love." The path they walked was lined with wildflowers in full bloom, their vibrant colors painting the landscape with shades of red, yellow, and purple. Birds chirped cheerfully from the branches of nearby trees, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves, carrying with it the fresh scent of earth and blooming flora. As they neared the village, he noticed it was smaller than he had expected, with quaint cottages and cobblestone streets. However, the bustling activity made up for its size. Stalls were set up along the streets, adorned with colorful banners and streamers fluttering in the wind. The air was filled with laughter and the distant sound of music, blending with the clinking of mugs and the chatter of villagers. "Looks like we came at the perfect time. There seems to be a celebration. Never really been to a celebration unless you count executions…" he said with a dark chuckle, but his eyes sparkled with genuine curiosity and excitement. Children ran past them, their faces painted with vibrant colors, and the smell of freshly baked bread and roasting meats wafted through the air, making his stomach growl. The village square was the heart of the festivity, with a large bonfire crackling in the center and dancers twirling to the rhythm of a lively tune played by a group of musicians.

@Fenrir

Mel gave a wavering smile, gently brushing his thumb over the back of Nick's hand as he raised to kiss it. He looped his free arm around Nick's neck, his fingers threading into his hair as they half-kissed. "I would love nothing more than forever with you, my darling." He murmured, leaning into Nick's hand, eyes fluttering shut in contentment. "You're gorgeous my love, it'd be rude if I didn't give you my undivided attention every time you undress." He gave a small smile, bashful by Nick's confidence in him. "Thank you, my dear. I hope they see that I've changed for the better, not for them but for you and myself." He kissed Nick's cheek before pressing a strawberry to Nick's lips, urging him to try. "I might have snuck one or two before coming back here." He admitted, "They're excellent!"

Abrose's blood was humming in his veins, the magic he had learned to suppress for so long alive and begging to be set free. He wanted to reach out to every unknown plant this place had to offer, to instantly know their purpose, to study its structures and make new potions and remedies, ones he couldn't make back home, where he had been afraid and unknowing of his ability, so much so that he stuck to the simple stuff, snuffing out his curiosity in favor or staying safe. Now he had the opportunity to make a difference in a place that would hopefully welcome him and Easton. He glanced up at his beloved and couldn't help but reflect on their past few years together. Abrose couldn't imagine either of their past selves walking arm in arm with each other like this when they first met, both too headstrong in their hatred for each other only to be seen as an enemy, an annoyance at best. But so much has happened since then. They had seen each other in a different light completely and had been heartbroken and fallen in love and now they were here, awaiting their friends while making a life of their own. Abrose pressed a kiss to their interlocked hands, smiling as they passed the field of flowers. As a kid before his mother and sister died he loved going out and finding fields of flowers in the woods and using his magic to disturb the petals enough to send them fluttering into the air around them, a particular trick his sister adored for all the colors and sweet smells that would surround them. "I want to show you what I can really do." He replied softly, breaking out into a smile as they entered the lively village. All he wanted to do was get lost amongst the crowds, to feel like a part of the community rather than just on the outside. All the music, the smells, and the sights nearly had Abrose drunk on the energy. He glanced up at Easton, eyes shining with excitement. "Food first, yeah?" He asked with a laugh. In all his marveling of the village he had momentarily forgot about finding breakfast.

@rui group

Nick's eyes widened in surprise as Mel pressed a strawberry against his lips instead of the kiss he was expecting. He laughed, the sound light and genuine, and bit into the fruit. "That's not fair. However, I can forgive them because these strawberries are good." He set one of the crepes down for Mel and another for himself, rolling his own into a cone before biting into the fruit that Mel had brought over. "Oh, I almost forgot to mention I made melted chocolate as a topping. Not too much, but just enough to go back for seconds." He took a spoon, dipped it into the pot of chocolate, and drizzled some onto his crepe. The warm, rich aroma of the chocolate filled the air, mingling with the fresh scent of the strawberries. "I haven't had these in a long time. One of the many dishes I learned from my maids…" He bit into his crepe, a smile spreading across his face. "The fruit tastes amazing. I didn't know that the garden was this fresh." He looked out the window, admiring the view of the garden, its vibrant colors a testament to the care and dedication put into it. The sun was shining, casting a golden glow over the leaves and flowers, making everything look even more inviting.

"Ah-" Easton blinked, almost forgetting the reason they were there. "Yes, of course, my love. The bakery is right down the street according to what I remember about this place. Those twisted donuts are going to be so good." He raised Abrose's hand and kissed the back of it. As they walked through the town, Easton was captivated by the vibrant festivities around them. Balloons floated by, colorful and cheerful, and there were various stalls and activities set up, each adding to the lively atmosphere. "The festivals back at home were also so depressing. Maybe some of that was my fault." He noticed someone who looked similar to a police officer and gave a friendly wave and a respectful nod. "So, what are you hoping they have at this bakery?" Easton asked, his tone light and curious. "Before you ask i will me paying for all of i because I want to spoil you and also whatever you don't finish I get to eat, so, you should order everything on the menu." He joked bumping Abrose's shoulder gently.

@Fenrir

Mel laughed as he took up a spot beside Nick and tried to copy how he folded the crepe, at first without filling and then, once he got the hang of making a cone, adding a bit of whipped cream, strawberries, and chocolate. He scooped up the crape, careful not to unravel his hard work before he got to take a bite. For a moment he watched Nick take the first bite before he did so himself, savoring its flavors, the strawberries perfectly sweet paired with the cream and the slightly bitter chocolate all made for a simple yet very delicious breakfast. "This is wonderful, my love. Thank you." He poured them both coffees and joined Nick by the door to admire the gardens. "You should have seen them when Abrose was still here. They flourished under his care, more than anything we could do. Since the move we've tried to keep up the maintenance but it's not quite the same." He explained, passing Nick the mug of coffee. "This'll probably be the last harvest before we move. I'm glad we used the last bit for a nice breakfast."

Abrose followed Easton through the festive village, still amazed by the liveliness of their environment, and how wild and unapologetic it all seemed. Back in the kingdom, the few festivals Abrose managed to sneak to all seemed so bleak in comparison. Sure they were joyous on the surface but there was a line no one was willing to cross, there was a limit to how happy you could be and if you crossed it you'd find yourself face-to-face with guards, asking you not to disturb some agreed-upon peace. Abrose had always felt he was on eggshells whenever he was in the city. He glanced up at Easton and thought for a moment. "I'd love to find something with apple, maybe a pop-over or slice of pie. Something warm and filling." He rolled his eyes playfully. "you spoil me more than enough, my dear. If anything you deserve to be spoiled. You can cover breakfast but I'm coving dinner tonight." He reasoned, glancing at the guard and giving a warm, if not tentative smile, still feeling a bit on edge about being so out in the open.

@rui group

Nick gave a wry smile, his gaze drifting over the fields bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun. "It might be the last harvest here," he said, his voice carrying a hint of nostalgia. "But knowing Abrose, he's probably cultivated a garden that’s nothing short of impressive by now. When we make the move, we’ll get to savor his fruits again. And who knows? Maybe what's his face will keep the garden going. However, if I’m being honest, I wouldn’t put money on it," he huffed, just thinking about him made him angry. "Either way, this won’t be the last harvest we see unless something drastic happens to us tomorrow." He leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on Mel's forehead, his touch lingering for a moment. "I’m genuinely looking forward to continuing these moments with you, even if it’s at our new place. Speaking of which, do you know where we’ll be staying? It’s not like you’ve got a house waiting for us over there, and I’m not sure about any relatives who might have space for us. We might need to consider booking an inn or something temporary while we figure out a more permanent solution." Nick paused to take another bite of his crepe, savoring the taste with a contented hum. "Unless you do have a house, I wouldn't put it past you because you have this beautiful estate already."

They arrived at the store, and Easton held the door open for Abrose, his hand resting lightly on his back, guiding him inside. "Oh, I’d love to see you try to pay for dinner," Easton said with a teasing grin. "I’ve never used my parents' money, and if I ever did, it would be for you. So, pick whatever you like, but don’t empty my pockets too quickly, my love. We’ll sort out dinner later." With a sly look, Easton made his way to the counter, his eyes scanning the menu with a sense of anticipation. A sigh of relief escaped him when he spotted the donuts he’d been craving.

"Hello there! I see some new faces in town!" The cashier, a young woman with a warm southern drawl, greeted them with a friendly smile. She looked to be around Nick’s age, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "You’ve come at just the right time. With the festival going on, we have some specials today. Will you be paying separately or together?"

"You could tell already?" Easton chuckled, glancing at Jas before intertwining his fingers with hers and resting his other hand thoughtfully on his chin. "I guess this is one of those places where everyone knows everyone. That’s charming." He turned back to the cashier, his gaze fixed on the array of treats. "Together, please. I’d like four—no, make that three—no, definitely four twisted donuts, please." His eyes twinkled with a mix of eagerness and indulgence.

@Fenrir

Mel grinned proudly "There is no doubt in my mind Abrose has already started on his dream garden, something he doesn't have to hide, something without limitations of space or fear of being found it." He gently nudged Nick's shoulder affectionately as he ate the rest of his crepe, hiding an undignified snort as they discussed his ex "For as terrible as he is at maintaining a relationship with me, I can't say anything about his determination. Anything that insufferable man has put his mind to, he has succeeded in accomplishing. If he says he'll take care of this estate, then no one will sway that vow." Mel settled at the steps of the kitchen that led to the gardens, gently tugging Nick's arm so he'd join. "I hope nothing happens to us from here on out. But if by some unlucky chance it does, I'm glad I got to spend like this, with you and everyone else. Knowing Abrose and Easton are safe and that I got to love someone so fiercely for the first time in a very long time." He leaned into the kiss, gently cupping Nick's cheek in an affectionate gesture. He laughed and gave his partner a knowing grin. "But of course, I have a place for us to stay. I did mention Roi being a businessman. He has homes and estates all over the country. As a part of the contract we signed, I requested one of the homes he had bought just until we could find a place all our own. It's nothing like this estate, but it'll suit our needs for the time being. We'll be safe and more importantly, close to Abrose and Easton." He explained, glancing over his shoulder as he saw a sleepy Esther shuffle into the kitchen. She gave a small wave, narrowed her eyes when she spotted the small pot of melted chocolate, glared between Nick and Mel, and then promptly found her stash of chocolate and hid it somewhere else. "You two owe me chocolate," she muttered, joining them by the steps and leaning against the doorframe behind Mel, her hands toying with his hair. "I still can't believe we're leaving." she mused softly.

Abrose stepped into the cafe and met with the warm smell of fresh bread and pastries. The place was awash in bright yellows and vibrant greens. Windows built into the roofing above let in as much light as possible, making it the perfect place for plants to grow on the walls and around the dining area. the dining area itself was sible, cozy small tables surrounded by pairs of small lounge chairs, perfect for those wanting to slowly enjoy a cup of coffee and relax. He met Easton's gaze and grinned back, just as determined. "we will, you'll choose where and I'll pay." He decided, following after Easton towards the counter. He scanned over the options, immediately drawn in by the seasonal desserts, taking advantage of the fruits and herbs that were flourishing now. Abrose gently squeezed Easton's hand and nodded "We're new around here. We just moved into the home just on the outskirts of the village a few weeks ago." He explained. "We're trying to get adjusted to the new town before we jump into finding jobs." Abrose let Easton order first while he still made up his mind, looking at the display case of treats. He lightly tapped the glass, excitement alight in his eyes. "One of these, please. If possible warmed." he requested, having pointed to a dessert with thin slices of apple that were layered between pastry over and over again, then topped with strudel. "And a honeyed milk tea, please." Now that the excitement of the morning had vaguely subsided, Abrose only now realized how hungry he was, especially with such an array of delicious food in front of him. "Maybe he'd take up Easton's suggestion and order more to have a few sweet treats for later back home.

“Oh, look at my businessman,” Nick teased, his eyes twinkling with admiration. He gently nudged Mel with his elbow, a playful grin tugging at the corners of his lips. “It’s one of the reasons I love you—always so headstrong and confident. You’re quite the smooth talker.” Rolling his eyes playfully, he took a final bite of his crepe, savoring the sweetness as he hummed contentedly. As Mel guided him with a gentle hand, Nick's gaze shifted to the entrance where a new face appeared. He chuckled softly, brushing a stray crumb from his shirt. “I'm glad you were able to find us a place close to Easton and Abrose. I miss my best friend—we used to have the best silent conversations,” he said, his voice tinged with nostalgia. Turning to Esther, he added, "I was wondering where everyone else was—seems you were still catching up on sleep. We might owe you some chocolate for the delay but don’t worry, there are delicious crepes waiting for you in the kitchen.” Nick sighed softly, sliding his arm around Mel's waist, pulling him closer as he looked around the room. “Yeah, it feels like a fever dream. First, I was a guard, then I ended up here, injured. Then I got to know Mel and all of his stunning features, and I met you guys. Everything has just felt so natural, being here with all of you." He glanced at Esther, his expression softening. "I can only imagine what it must feel like for you, having been here much longer and sharing so many more memories.”

"No problem! That will be $29.45!" Easton handed over the money, receiving 55 cents in change from the cashier. "Please sit wherever you like, and your food and drink will be ready shortly," the cashier, whose name tag read "Debbie," said with a friendly smile.

"Thank you, Debbie. Take your time," Easton replied, nodding politely before turning to take Abrose's hand. He guided them to a nearby table and pulled out a chair for Abrose before sitting down himself.

"As for dinner, how about this—I picked the breakfast spot and paid, so you can pick the dinner place and pay, but only this once," Easton suggested, grinning as he teased Abrose. "And if you're still hungry, feel free to order more food. I’ve got plenty to spend, especially since everything here is reasonably priced, unlike the capital we used to live in."

Just then, Abrose's honeyed milk tea and dessert arrived, much faster than expected. The waitress, Debbie, returned with a warm smile. "Sorry for the wait on your food; we had to make a fresh batch as they sell out pretty quickly. Could I offer you something else to pass the time, sir?"

Easton shook his head, glancing at the treats in front of Abrose. "Don't worry, I can wait. I'll just share with my boyfriend if I get hungry. Thank you, though." His voice was calm, and his eyes softened as he looked at Abrose with a big grin.

(Oh btw we're almost done with this one which seems so weird because we started this so long ago but once we finish for good do you mind if I put this into a story I think the plot is really solid and I just want to see what it would look like yk)

"I wouldn't have gotten this far if I didn't play just a little dirty. Besides, Roi can't say no to me after what he did." He grinned sweetly, glancing up when Esther started laughing. "my dear cousin is a fool but I'm glad to see you happier with someone who values you as more than just a business asset." She gently squeezed their shoulders before returning inside to make herself a crepe. She returned shortly and pulled up a chair by the couple. "While you two sleeping beauties were locked in your room, we all took it upon ourselves to pack the rest of home up." She explained, taking a much-needed bite of the crepe. "Knox is ready to move, though I think he wants to see you first," Esther told Mel, who nodded slightly and sighed deeply. "I have no doubt I'll get an earful for not telling him sooner." Mel curled up closer to Nick, setting aside his now empty plate and watching as the sun started to set. "I'm glad you fit in so well with our eclectic little family, darling. I can't say it was perfect when we first met but I'm glad you stayed." Mel pecked Nick's cheek lovingly.
Esther nodded solemnly "I don't know any other home than here. It's where I met Mel and fell in love with Veda, met my family, and fought alongside everyone. It'll be hard to move away from a place that made me who I am, who we all are but I think it's for a new, better beginning." Esther smiled softly and stood from her chair, piling her plate with a few more crepes. "I'll leave you two love birds to reminisce while I bring food to Veda. Get as much rest as possible, we'll all need to be well-rested for the move." She encouraged. Mel stood and walked over to Esther, pressing a kiss to her curls and nodding, giving her a reassuring squeeze before letting her go back to her room.

"Thank you," Abrose followed Easton to the table, settling in the chair while taking the chance to look around more at the cafe. He huffed a small sigh as he focussed on Easton but eventually gave in with a small smile, gently squeezing his hand. "Fine, but if you think this is the last time I'm spoiling you you're very wrong, my love. I can make you equally as happy without needing to spend money." He declared, looking up when a plate was set in front of him along with a steaming cup of tea. "We're more than happy to wait, thank you." Abrose reassured, unwrapping his utensils and scooping up the point from the slice of the pastry and taking his first bite, almsot immediately melting at how incredible it tasted. He scooped another bite and offered it to Easton. "It's like a mouthful of autumn," he tried to explain, taking a moment to take a tentative sip of the tea.
