"Hm. Is that far from here?" He looked over to Orion curiously.
"Hm. Is that far from here?" He looked over to Orion curiously.
“Yeah. More than a few hours. What about you? Where do you wanna go?”
Lin shrugged a bit. "Not sure. Maybe I'll go back to visit England someday. See how my siblings are doing, you know? I think you'd like them."
“Probably. I like you well enough,” she said, jokingly.
"They're not all just like me, though. A couple of them aren't super nice, either."
“I’m not very nice,” she pointed out mildly. “And I meant that they’re similar to you. Not exactly the same.”
Lin shrugged a bit. "You'd definitely like Rem. He's sweet. My younger siblings are all pretty chill, to be honest. The older ones are the ones to watch out for."
“Huh. I think I could take them. Is Rem like you? I mean, personality-wise?”
Lin tilted his head from side to side for a moment. "Mmm… I guess so. I haven't seen him since he was six, though, so he could be different now."
"I don't know. I think he'd be mostly the same. I mean, with what your parents did to you, maybe not. I'm not sure."
"I suppose I'm a little behind as well, yes?" He glanced over to Orion. "I still don't know much about the world and I'm 18."
“Yeah. I guess so. I mean, I thought that CDs ran out of music until I was eleven.”
"Mm." Lin yawned a bit and sighed, looking away. "I'm pretty unfamiliar with everything."
“The world is weird. I don’t think the universe really wants us to know everything.”
"Yeah, I guess not. I'm sure we wouldn't be able to handle it if we did anyway."
"That's true. There are just so many things that I can't understand, you know? It's sort of frustrating."
"Mhmm. I've kinda just accepted that I don't understand a lot of things and it's okay. I dunno. I'm not too concerned with knowing everything, since that's impossible."
"Yes. Yeah. I suppose that's true. Lin, for saying that you're unfamiliar with everything, you're a very wise person."
"Wise?" Lin looked over at Orion, confused. "I wouldn't say I'm wise… I just don't see the sense in setting goals for myself that are literally unachievable."
"Which is wise," she insisted. "I'm just the opposite."
Lin shrugged a bit. "I dunno. You seem pretty smart to me. You just gotta know your limits."
"Yeah, but because I'm smart I feel like I have to know everything."
"But you don't. That's not a reasonable goal." Lin said simply. "You may want to know a lot, but it is impossible to know everything."
“I know. I think I feel like that’s my only source of validation.”
"Well, you're good at all sorts of things. You're pretty good at magic too, and you can always tell me things when I'm confused."
