His lips lingered on her cheek for a moment, before he pulled away. "You wanna help me dump a bucket of water on Mitch?"
His lips lingered on her cheek for a moment, before he pulled away. "You wanna help me dump a bucket of water on Mitch?"
She frowned. "That wouldn't be nice."
"But it would be funny." He challenged, grinning. "The guy needs to let loose a bit more. He's brilliant, when it comes to books, but not with people and having fun."
"Well, that was me until…" She realized what she was going to say and stopped, a quick blush filling her face.
"Until what?" Nicky tilted his head.
She subconsciously smoothed her half-wet-half-dry hair. "U-Until I met you…"
He grinned, pulling her into a hug. "I didn't realize I was so life changing."
She giggled. "Don't let your head get too big or you'll end up like Aaron," she teased.
"Oh god, you're right." He gasped in horror, which quickly turned into snickering. "He's such an ass."
"If you turn out like him, I'm dumping you," she said teasingly.
"I'd dump myself." He said, shuddering as he pulled away.
Laura looked around the yard. "Where did everybody go?"
"Wait, what?" Nicky looked around, eyes widening in realization. "Shit, get behind me."
Her eyes widened and she did as he said. "What's going on?"
He didn't get the chance to answer as he was suddenly drenched with the hose.
Some of the cold water hit Laura as well, and she squealed in shock. "Hey!"
"Aaron I'm going to kill you!" He was met with laughter, and another round of hosing.
"Stop it!" Laura cried, hiding behind Nicky playfully.
Nicky reached back to hold hr as he started to inch to the side, still spluttering.
She followed him. "Are we going to run?" she whispered in his ear.
He hoped the flush on his cheeks from her proximity wasn't noticeable, and muttered back. "On the count of three, I'm gonna tackle Aaron, and you're gonna run."
She nodded. "One…"
"Two…three!" And with that he let go of her and lunged at Aaron, knocking him to the ground and wrestling for the hose. The ground was muddy from the water stream.
Laura sprinted to the closest place she could – back to the porch.
Renee caught up just as Laura reached the porch. "Dammit. You found O.Z."
