Samul reached over to tuck the tail back in, kissing Larkin's cheek as they went.
Larkin looked over at Samul curiously, but didn't pay him much mind. He dismissed the action and returned to his sand castle.
Samul hummed a bit, setting his bucket down and tapping the sand out.
"I'm glad we've had a fun day together," he said, smiling.
"Mhmm! It's been great!" Larkin grinned, kissing Samul's cheek and nuzzling against him.
Samul smiled back, hugging Larkin a moment.
"Good!" He pecked Larkin's cheek.
Larkin flopped down on his stomach to continue making his sand castle, his tongue sticking out a bit in concentration.
Samul let out a soft chuckle. He looked around, managing to dig up a half buried shelf. Making sure nothing was living inside it, he placed it on the top of one part of the castle with a grin.
Larkin grinned at the shell as well. "I think we're almost done with it! What else should we add?" He asked.
"Hmm…" Samul thought a moment, tapping his chin. He smirked a bit, grabbing one of the used food skewers and tying a napkin to it. He stuck it on the top.
"A flag!"
Larkin snickered a bit as he looked at the makeshift flag. "Perfect! I love it. We should take a picture with it."
"Great!" Samul pulled his phone out, unlocking it. He moved a bit, making sure to get Larkin in the picture. He went to take it, smiling, when his phone went off. Samul froze as he looked at the notification, face paling.
Larkin grinned brightly for the picture and looked at Samul's phone curiously when he got a notification. "What's that?" He asked.
Samul turned the phone, has shaking just slightly. Someone had air-dropped a picture, of samul and Larkin. It was when Larkin's hat had come off, just before they had got it back on. There was a note-
I have more.
Larkin paled as well, his heart starting to pound harder in his chest. It felt like he couldn't breathe. "W-What do we do?" He asked in a nervous whisper.
"I-I…" Samul shook his head a bit. He glanced around once, putting his arms around Larkin.
"I– I d-don't know…"
Larkin buried his face in Samul's chest, quivering a bit. "I… I-I'm sorry… I'm s-so sorry, Samul…"
Samul held Larkin so tight to himself.
"I–" Samul cut himself off. "You d-didn't do it on purpose, Larkin, we'll- we'll find a way a fix this."
"I don't… I-I dunno what to do… do we know who sent this? What can we do? Are they gonna send me away to get tested on??"
"I…" Samul examined the drop again. "They sent their number," he said softly. He hesitated, then moved to text it.
What do you want?
Nothing.
"I won't let them," Samul said, holding Larkin tight to himself.
Tears stung Larkin's eyes as he huddled up with Samul, terrified. "I-I don't wanna… I don't wanna get tested on…"
"I won't, I won't let anyone take you from me." Samul held close, feeling his phone buzz with a notification.
I want him.
Larkin didn't even look at Samul's phone, not sure he wanted to know what it said. "I'm scared, Samul…"
"I–" Samul held Larkin tighter to himself, dropping the phone. No, no, nonono, he couldn't– he couldn't let that happen.
Larkin buried his face in Samul's shoulder and hiccuped a couple of times. "W-What did he say…?"
Samul was trembling a bit. He held Larkin close to himself.
"I… they- they said–" Samul closed his eyes, letting out a silent choked sob.
