(It’s ok! I completely understand! Take your time! Don’t worry about this, I’ll wait.)
(I finished some of my biggest projects and my renaissance painting, so I should be able to respond regularly again.)
“I guess so …” he trailed off. “So, what do you do around here? Like your work, or hobbies or whatever …”
Oliver cringed a bit on the inside at his desperate attempt to keep the conversation alive. His mother told him that people like having long conversations. But having some deep and meaningful conversation with someone he just met, didn’t seem like a top idea. Small talk was much less enjoyable too, and talking to people that weren’t that important to him.
Raz laughed softly and rested his hand on his face, squishing his cheek. "Are you really interested in knowing what I do or are you just trying to pass the time with small talk?" he asked with a smirk. "I'm starting to get the impression you not invested in this relationship." he pouted playfully, joking around a bit. "I'm hurt, here I thought you wanted to be friends!" he huffed softly and took a sip of his drink
“I’m just trying to follow my mothers advice,” Oliver shot Raziel a sheepish grin. “I haven’t made any long-term decisions about how this will go.”
Honestly, Oliver was never that invested in associating with people in general. Having relationships with random people didn’t really have a bonus, so it wasn’t that worth it. Though, if his mother needed him to have healthy relationships, then so be it. She was probably trying to get him to understand why people associated so much.
“Ah, I see. Well I hope this satisfies your mom.” He said cheerily. “Do you see her a lot? Your mom I mean.”
“I guess so. I could see her more, though I stick to seeing her about a few times a month, and I check in every week.”
If Oliver felt safe enough, he would visit her everyday. He did try and do that before, but his mother told him he should go out and do more. So, he of course does most of whatever his mother tells him to do. But he still gets a bit paranoid about her, and managed to create a schedule where he can check in every week. He’ll normally bring flowers or something too.
“That’s sweet, I’m sure your mom loves seeing you.” He smiled softly, reminding himself of his own mother who had passed a few years before. He would love to see her again and hoped that wherever she was, she was proud
"She'd probably appreciate it more if I brought in a couple of friends though. It'd probably be dangerous to bring Wesley. Gotta make some choices though, 'You win some, you lose some'," he said. It was unbelievably relieving to see that the conversation was dragging on. He really did have to make some choices though, and he always decided it would be better off with him committing more time to make her healthy again, than anything else.
"Is you're mom alright? since she seemingly can't go out to see anyone." he asked, suddenly worried that he had overstepped "you don't have to tell me, of course. It's just by the way you talk about her, it seems like she doesn't get out a lot."
Oliver pursed his lips. He really made seem obvious didn’t he, and he was probably trying to avoid it. It wasn’t the worst subject to talk about though, so it wouldn’t matter if he said a bit.
“She’s better now. She’s just not … stable enough to go out, or interact with a huge amount of people. Though she gets to go on short walks sometimes with someone monitoring her, she can't really have any proper outings."
Raz nodded as Oliver spoke, saddened to hear the his mother was in such a condition where she wasn’t well enough to live a regular life. He looked up at him, suddenly getting an idea. “I’m not sure if this would help but if you’d like for her to be around more people, me and Jax could always drop by for a few visits, that is if you’re alright with it. Jax is usually ok around people.”
Oliver pondered Raziel’s offer. Would his mother be open to suddenly meeting new people? Was it bad to keep his mother to himself? She should get to talk to more people than just the staff … but was it safe?
“ … Thank you for offering to do that. I, uh … I guess we could try and see what happens. She should probably see more people too and get used to new faces …”
Oliver decided that the best course of action, would be a slow course of action. He needed his mother to get better, and apparently mental health was a part of that too. So he hoped socializing her more would end up being a right decision.
"You're sure? You don't have to agree! I was just making a suggestion, I know I'm a stranger and all. Now that I think about it more, maybe meeting a stranger isn't a good idea…I wouldn't do anything to her of course but just in case you're uncomfortable with it! uhm…I'd make sure she's taken care of." he buried his face in his arms, trying to hide his embarrassment. "S-Sorry, I ramble when i get nervous…"
Oliver smirked. Raziel was rather cute in a way.
“You don’t need to get nervous over this. I’m sure that it would be good for my mother- in some way at least.”
He took a look over to Wesley, concerned she hadn’t started joining the conversation. She was dying to know more about his personal life, and there was no way he’d go beyond what he’d told Raziel. Though he assumed that people usually share a lot about their personal lives with others.
He ran a hand through his hair, needing to do something with his hands to keep them from shaking. "only if your sure if it's alright, i can drop by whenever is good for her." he said, his usual cheeriness returning. He glanced over to Jax and Wesley when Oliver looked over and smile. He slid out of seat and crouched down next to his dog, gently poking him in the side. "hey, you up for making people happy beside Wesley?" he laughed and rubbed his belly, shaking his head at Jax being so spoiled
