Ash nodded, moving to enter Laura's room. He sat the two plates down, motioning for Laura to have him the glad so they wouldn't soul it when he sat her down. He smiled a bit.
Ash nodded, moving to enter Laura's room. He sat the two plates down, motioning for Laura to have him the glad so they wouldn't soul it when he sat her down. He smiled a bit.
Laura did so carefully, ready to get down when he wanted to set her down.
"Thank you, sir." She whispered as her feet hit the floor. "Are we gonna sit on the floor?"
"We can!" Ash sat down, setting Laura's milk down and grabbing the plates.
"What do you think of this place so far?"
Laura plopped down to the floor, giving him a little smile as she did.
"It's nice… much better than- um… y'know." She mumbled a little, reaching for the plate and pulling it close.
Ash nodded.
"I'm glad for that." He smiled gently, reaching out to gently place his hand on her head. "I'm glad I can give you a safe place to live."
Laura smiled weakly, picking up the glass and sipping from it.
"Mmm… I am too, sir. Thank you so much…" She mumbled a bit, setting it back down carefully.
"You're welcome…" Ash gently cupped Laura's head a moment. Then, he picked up his own sandwich to start eating.
Laura's smile dropped a bit, starting to eat her food in silence. After a while she let out a soft sigh, setting her empty plate aside.
"What should I do with my dishes sir?"
"Here, just set them with mine. I'll take care of them." Ash offered a small smile. He shifted a bit, tail resting on his lap.
Laura nodded a little, setting her plate on top of his.
"Alright, sir." She set her finished milk glass on top of the stack, giving a soft smile.
"What are we doing now?"
"Well, would you still like to get a hair band?" Ash picked up the plates, still sitting for now.
"I- um… yeah, kind of, sir." Laura mumbled, flicking her gaze off of him. She tipped her head down to the floor, occasionally glancing up through her curtain of hair.
Ash watched Laura a moment. He stood, holding the plates in one hand.
"Are you okay?" He asked softly.
Laura hesitantly lifted her head, her voice growing quieter when she went to speak.
"I-I… yeah…" She mumbled a bit, "I- I just feel bad about asking you for something else…"
Ash set the plates down, reaching over to simply pick Laura up and hold her close.
"I'm the one who suggested getting the hair band first," he started gently, "and if you feel bad about getting it right now, then I'm not going to try to force you to do it."
"I-I just feel like I'm in your way… I don't want to push anything…" Laura mumbled, burying her face in his shoulder.
"It's just another thing that you're doing for me…" She sighed weakly as she curled up.
"Your not in my way, I promise." Ash held Laura choose, rubbing her back a bit. "You're not pushing. But I won't do it if it makes you feel like this, okay?" Ash set down with Laura on his lap, still holding her close.
Laura sucked in a shaky breath, nodding when he spoke. She still stayed curled up close, head resting on his shoulder.
"I-I'm sorry… I-I probably sound ungrateful for this…" She mumbled weakly, folding in on herself.
"You really, really don't," Ash assured gently. He ran his fingers through her hair, holding her close. "You've been through so much, not being able to handle something like this is normal. You don't sound ungrateful, I promise."
Laura looked up at him, tears stinging at the corners of her eyes. She gave him a soft look, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“I-I’m still sorry… I- I’m probably bothering you with… with all of this.” She mumbled, burying her face in the crook of his neck.
"You're not. I'm so, so glad that you feel like you can do this with me. It doesn't bother me." Ash held Laura close, one hand going up to hold her cheek gently when he saw her tears.
“I- but… but wouldn’t you-“ Laura grew quiet, trying to breath properly. She was trying her best not to start crying, already assuming she seemed kinda ridiculous with her tears and stammering.
Though she couldn’t help it- she was so worried Mr. Ash was going to get annoyed with her. Or worse.
Ash stayed calm for Laura, holding her close.
"I've got you. And I'm not going to get upset at you, I promise. I'm not going to hurt you…" He rubbed Laura's back lightly, wiping her cheeks.
Laura sucked in a deep breath, nodding a bit into his shoulder with a weak sigh.
“Y-yes sir… I- I’m sorry. I’m so sorry…” She whispered, sniffling a bit. She gave up trying to hold her tears back, letting him wipe them away as they came.
Ash rested his cheek against Laura's head, holding her cheeks in his hands.
"It's okay, Laura…"
