“As if you don’t already know,” Eden nudged his side. “I’m going to be at home, doing absolutely nothing.”
“As if you don’t already know,” Eden nudged his side. “I’m going to be at home, doing absolutely nothing.”
“Then you should come out with me and do something,” Sterling chuckled, nudging her back. “We could make this a tradition; go out every Saturday.”
“Fun tradition,” Eden smiled up at him. “We could go book hunting? I want to buy this series. It has… nine books, I think.”
“Definitely a fun tradition,” Sterling agreed, glancing up as they stepped closer to the front. “What series? It must be good if it has so many books.”
“It’s called Throne of Glass,” Eden started, feeling a little excited. “It’s about an assassin who, after spending a year in this… horrifying place for slaves, gets summoned by the king to act as his Champion. I read its preview and it’s amazing. It makes it better since I’ve just started reading the author’s other series, A Court of Thorns and Roses.”
“A Court of Thorns and Roses? I think I’ve heard of that. Who is it by again?” Sterling asked, glancing down at her.
“Sarah J. Mass,” Eden responded with a smile, but stopped talking when it was their turn.
“Maybe I’ll try reading it, then. Is it a series?” Sterling wondered after they had ordered and were walking to a table with their food.
Eden nodded, keeping close to her boyfriend. “It has three books with the fourth as a side. Another one’s coming, but I don’t know when.”
Sterling hummed, setting his food down on a table and pulling out a chair for Eden. “I’ll see if the library has them and check them out if it does.”
Eden smiled and thanked him before taking her seat.
“Or you could borrow the first book from me,” she shrugged. “I’ve finished that one already.”
“Really? I think I’d like that. Thanks, beautiful,” Sterling said, kissing her cheek before pushing her seat in and sitting across from her.
What a gentleman,Eden thought to herself with a chuckle.
“You could come with me home after school,” Eden offered. “I’ll give you the book along with a bookmark.”
“That sounds great. I could drive you home, and you could tell me where you want to go on our date this weekend,” Sterling suggested with a grin, taking a bite of his salad.
Eden slowly took a bite out of the salad, knowing Sterling would tell her to, anyway. And she didn’t want to annoy him, so she started before he could tell her to.
“You’re leaving that to me?” Eden quirked an eyebrow. “Sterling, I have no idea how these things work. You’re the master at dates.”
“Just pick a place and a time to meet, then think of something we can do. Or you wanted to get those books, so we could just do that. Then maybe get some lunch or something. Take a walk in a park. Read while we’re there…” Sterling mused, smiling when he saw her eating.
Eden took a sip of her water, resting her cheek on the palm of her hand.
“Then… we could watch a movie,” Eden suggested softly. “Um, we could watch… anything that’s been released recently? Bumblebee, The Dark Phoenix, anything animated… and then we could have dinner, and then go out for a walk…”
“Whatever you want to do, we’ll do,” Sterling said softly, taking another bite of the salad. “That sounds like a good plan.”
Eden tucked a stray strand of her hair behind her ear. “Then that’s perfect,” she cast her eyes on the table, “Movie, then dinner and then a walk.”
“I could pick you up around four? Or should I pick you up earlier than that?” Sterling wondered, pushing the bowl towards her to get her to take another bite.
Eden slowly took another bite. It was really good, and Eden wished she could eat more, but she had her limits. “Four sounds fine. But we’ll probably end up doing other things first, so earlier is better.”
“How about I just come over for breakfast and hang out with you all day, hm?” Sterling suggested with a chuckle as he took another bite of the salad as well.
Eden looked at him, her expression brightening. “That’s better. I love that suggestion, Sterling.”
Sterling laughed softly and shook his head, giving her and amused smile. “That was a joke, but I would definitely love to spend the entire day with you. What time should I come over?”
Eden blinked at her boyfriend as warmth flooded her cheeks. She coughed, messing with her hair awkwardly. “Uh, you could come by ten?” she refused to stare at him, embarrassed. “I don’t think Luke would be home.”
