“Of course, beautiful,” Sterling murmured before leaning down. He kissed her softly, slowly. It was much less desperate than their last kiss, but he liked it just as much, if not more.
Eden’s eyes closed, her heart fluttering at the affectionate way he addressed her. She kissed him back, loving the way he handled her gently, slowing down for her sake. Maybe one day she could let both of them go a step further. One by one.
Just as she began to lose herself to the feeling of his mouth on hers and his warm, strong arms holding her, they were interrupted by the warning bell. Three minutes to get to class.
Sterling pulled away with a sigh, resting their foreheads together. “That’s the bell for class… We should get going,” he murmured. “Unless…”
“Skip?” She murmured, her eyes still closed, lips still tingling. “I don’t want to go to class.”
“Let’s skip. Nothing important is next anyway, right? And we can just get notes and homework from our friends,” Sterling mused, burying his face in her hair. “Should we go back to your place?”
“Ah, but then you’d get in trouble. They’ve elected to ignore me, but you might get in trouble,” Eden murmured, shivering at his breath on her neck.
“I’ll be fine just as long as we don’t make this a regular habit of ours. Then again, I’m sure I could charm the teachers into brushing it off, anyway,” Sterling said with a shrug. “If you want to go, then let’s go.”
Eden scowled at that. “The only one I wouldn’t mind you charming would be me, but all right,” she muttered. “You should know by now that I’d want to go.”
Sterling chuckled and pulled back to kiss her again. “You know you’re the only one I want, E. I charm them in other ways than I charmed you,” he teased with a smile. “Let’s go, then.”
Eden kissed him back, the blush reappearing on her cheeks due to his teasing.
“Yeah, yeah,” she mumbled. “Lead the way, Sterling.”
Sterling chuckled softly and gently pushed her away from him so he could move away from the wall. “Your place, right? Or do you want to go out somewhere?”
Eden stepped away from him, running her fingers through her now rather tangled up hair.
“My place sounds fine,” she said softly. “We should go before someone enters this classroom.”
“Definitely,” Sterling agreed with a grin. He took her hand gently and led her out of the room, glancing g around to make sure no one was watching them. “We’re clear to go.”
Eden looked at their hands, hers completely engulfed in his large ones. She was completely familiar with the feeling of his hand in hers. She loved it, too.
“I’ve sneaked out of school a couple of times,” Eden shrugged. “They’re least likely to see us leave.”
“Good. Then show the way, E,” Sterling said, grinning down at her with a gentle squeeze to her hand.
Eden squeezed his hand back, trying to ignore the way his grin sent her heart exploding. She smiled back and tugged him out of the classroom. It didn’t take long, but soon they found themselves at the back of the school.
“Well, here we are,” she murmured, slipping her hand out of his hold as she looked up at the wall. She offered Sterling a grin. “So, can you climb a wall, Sterling?”
Sterling raised his eyebrows as he looked up at the wall, then dropped one to quirk the other at Eden. “I’m sure I’ll figure that out now, won’t I?”
Eden merely smiled at him, took a few steps away and inhaled deeply. Then she ran toward the wall, eyes narrowed in concentration as she looked at that one spot on the wall. A small smirk took over her lips as she ran towards the wall and jumped, the ball of her right foot connecting with the spot she had been eyeing. Though she was short, she had a rather long jump. Perhaps that was due to her constant escapes, but it was a good thing. It wasn’t entirely enough to reach the top, but she used the momentum to press her other foot higher on the wall, reaching to the top. Her hand slapped the top of the concrete wall, foot colliding on the wall right before she pulled herself up. She never got tired of it.
Perching herself on the wall, she looked down at Sterling, quirking her own eyebrow at him.
“Your turn,” she said, breathless from the exhilaration. Her injured hand throbbed, but she hoped she hadn’t opened the cut she had given herself. Purely out of accident. She didn’t want Sterling to see it, especially since he had been bothered on Friday when he’d seen the hand she’d punched the wall with.
Sterling watched her with raised brows, thoroughly impressed. “Okay, you might have to help me up a bit,” he chuckled, stepping closer.
He scanned the wall for anything that could be used as foot or hand holds and found a few that might work. His climbing wasn’t nearly as cool as Eden’s had been, but it worked. Soon enough, he was pulling himself up beside her, giving her a slightly breathless smile.
“Let’s go, then.”
Eden chuckled at him, looking down at the ground.
“Don’t jump off of here,” she said to him. “You’ll sprain your ankle, or do something worse.”
Her hands pressed against the concrete again as she twisted around, her feet sliding off to the other side. She winced when she noticed the slight blood on the inside of her bandaged hand, but she hoped Sterling hadn’t noticed.
Finally, when she was hanging off the wall, she let go, gritting her teeth as her feet collided with the ground. Though the distance had been reduced, it was never fun, the climbing down part. And now her hand was hurting, too, so there was that.
She looked up at Sterling.
“Come on,” she smiled. “Do what I did. You’re taller, anyway, so it won’t be much of a problem.”
Sterling chuckled, shaking his head. “All right. I’ll do that, then,” he said as he shifted and turned around. He dropped to the ground, bending his knees before he touched down. He stood and straightened, turning to grin at Eden. “Ready?”
“Ready,” Eden smiled back, holding out her uninjured hand. “Your car, right?”
“Yeah, my car. You remember which one it is, right?” Sterling asked, taking her hand and intertwining their fingers.
“Of course I do,” Eden mumbled under her breath, tightening her hold on his hand. “What did you think?”
Sterling shrugged and kissed the top of her head. “Well, the last time you were in it, you were soaking wet and cold. I wasn’t sure if you were really thinking about it.”
