(this is a reboot of a dead RP)

Two warring princes. Forbidden magic. Soulmates.

Tesh and Kevra have been at war for about as long as anyone can remember. The borders are everchanging, the battlefields too numerous to remember, the death tolls so catastrophic that none speak of them. No one can even remember why they are fighting in the first place. Yet still, the two fight on, the hatred between the two countries running deeper than the oceans.

The royalty of the two nations are meeting to discuss a possible peace treaty. The two princes are as different as different can be, and both hold dangerous secrets of forbidden and dangerous magic. When they meet, they hate each other on principle. Both represents what the other hates the most. But they talk to each other, because their fathers force them to. Then, something unthinkable.

The two princes are soulmates. They are destined for each other, despite everything. Having found this out, they begin to spend more time with each other, each making an effort to look past their hatred and get to know each other.

Then, disaster.

An attack on the border encampment that the royals met at leaves the kings dead, and the princes captured by a band of renegades who are bent on the destruction of both countries. The two must learn to trust each other, to surrender their secrets to the others trust, and hope that they can escape and make it home before their countries renew the war.

Name: Nikolas Aster Crowe
Nicknames: Nik
Titles: Prince of Kevra; Prince of Shadows;
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Pan
Age: 23
Looks: Nikolas is of just above average height. He has black hair that's straight, and a bit long, a few strands brushing against his shoulders. His eyes are a pale golden color that catch the sunlight quite easily. He has rather pale skin, with only a slight tan. He has broad shoulders, but a rather thin, well-muscled body. He has a collection of scars on his body from various things, mostly swordfights/sparring. He has a tattoo of a black bird on the inside of his left wrist. It's just a simple silhouette, and is rather small, size-wise. He has a scar on his left leg, and limps sometimes because of it. Looks a lot like this, minus the eyepatch
Personality: Nik can be a bit hot-headed, though he is very smart, and quick-witted. He hates the kingdom of Tesh with nearly all his heart, and would do anything just to win this war. And he has done nearly everything to win this war. He is a really good swordsman, and enjoys a good sparring match. He is very slow to trust, and it is difficult to earn his trust. Because of this, he only has a very small circle of friends, but he trusts them all with his life. He is usually rather kind-hearted, though at the same time, he can be very ruthless to those he considers his enemy. As a Kevran, he wasn't raised to be merciful, nor was he raised to be very kind to enemies, especially those from Tesh. (Will be fleshed out more in RP)
Magic: Nikolas was cursed as a baby to always be followed by darkness/shadow, and to always have the light abhor him. Which means that he can control the shadows/darkness, and is rather easily sunburned. Which is why he always wears long sleeves and usually a hat. Nobody but his immediate family knows, as curses are seen as something for which the person cursed must be punished or killed for, especially when it is accompanied by powers like his. Many people would shun and hate him for that power, so he has told few of it. He can also communicate with nocturnal or black birds, though only on nights of full, harvest, blood, or new moons. He turns into a monster some nights, as well, and must be tied down so he doesn't get free and try to eat people, as he isn't himself when he turns into the monster.
Favorite food/drink: Chocolate / White Hot Chocolate (Nik has a major sweet tooth)
Blurb about Country: Kevra is bordered by the ocean on one side, Tesh on another, and a third country on the other. At it's back is a peaceful land of mostly nomads, so there has never been any major trouble from that direction. It is ruled by King Alistair Crowe. Kevra is known for having a powerful army, and that is because of the fact that the draft brings in anyone over sixteen, not just boys. Girls are allowed to fight in its army too, which means it gets a large boost over countries that do not allow their women to fight. They believe in a pantheistic deity system, consisting of about seven gods, though there are a few minor ones not counted among the seven.
Bit of background that will be relevant to the RP: Nikolas has fought on the warfront, and received a wound to his left leg there, hence the scar and limp. He is known to the Tesh merely as a prince, and as a terror and a scourge because of serving on the front.

I took a bit longer than usual on this snippet because I was especially motivated that day, so expect a slight decrease in.. good vocabulary words" (xD)
~
Slowly wafting the scent towards her, she closed her eyes and sorted out the flavors, trying to ignore the background noise of horses and dense foliage. As it turned into white noise, Akano could see the ingredients taking shape in her mind one by one.
And then, an unfamiliar scent just barely crossed her nose. Her face twisted, agitated. Hundreds of black ink brush plants flashed before her eyes, reliving the nights of studying by candlelight. Dozens of lessons replayed themselves in slow motion, words jumping out of the pages. She kept wafting, slightly stronger this time, desperate for an answer.
A word stood out of the fray. A beautiful dusty brownish purple fungi with a creamy white netlike veil that hung beneath its bell shaped cap. Brotticulis shrooms. She pushed away instantly, holding in her breath. These shrooms were no fatal poison, as the vial had suggested. Its pores emitted something to the likes of sleeping gas, making its victims drowsy and quickly doze off, much to the efficiency of the culprit. An unlucky animal who mistakens the Brotticulis for a tasty morsel would fall into deep sleep forever- only a few feet from the fungi. Although humans could get closer, it was still a rarity due to the struggle of harvesting them. Akano’s bun contained a light dusting dried up and ground shrooms, enough to knock her out cold.
Akano cursed; the vial had reacted to the item only because there was a good amount of powder dusted on the top of the bun, and Akano had inexplicably wafted some of it toward her. Its aromatic fragrance had been strategically covered by the light honey drizzled on top of the bun. The exiguous spices were modified to obscure the shroom’s distinctive odor.
She hurriedly covered her mouth and nostrils with her sleeve, but the damage had already been done. Her eyes drooped, her heartbeats slowing. Her racing mind slowed gently to a stop. Akano’s arm fell to her side, knocking the tray off her lap. It clanged on the carpeted floor once, the food toppling out. Hopefully no one heard the sound as that most definitely would have given her away. If she was found like this… What an embarrassing death that would be. She thought.
And then she fell to her left, too tired to stay upright.

@subliminal_miracles

Question because I'm not good at worldbuilding lmao-
-Do I really need to explain things about my "country"? I'm insanely bad at writing things that'll actually be important, or play a role in anything x(

@ElderGod-Icefire

I would prefer if you provided at least a little bit of information, yes. Although I suppose I can do it if you absolutely cannot do it at all

@subliminal_miracles

Oh and some random question about your character, what does "control shadows and darkness" mean?
And how does soulmates work in this world? :'0
Other than that, here's my character! I messed around with him a lot so I'm not surprised if I wake up tomorrow, reread it, and realize nothing makes sense lolol (And that I'm so insane for romance that I dumped a bunch of references in th-) But I digress, here he is~
~
Name:
Eirlys Faye Talfryn
Nicknames:
Close friends tease him by calling him Ellie, but he believes it is unacceptable for anyone else to talk to him in such a way. Tal or Faye is for people that he knows well.
Titles:
(I just followed your example xD) Prince Eirlys Faye Talfryn of Tesh; He's heard damsels call him the White Hyacinth.
Gender:
Male
Sexuality:
He never really bothered with this, but assumes he's straight.
Age (between 20 and 24):
21 (and 3/4)
Looks:

Imgur

Eirlys has long, silver-white (closer to silver, just looks lighter in natural sunlight.) hair that drapes a bit farther than his bust. Usually, he ties it up in combat (( And tbh he's someone that likes it when is hair is pulled during ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) even if he doesn't know it yet bc virgin squad hhh )) He also features the signature striking violet eyes that make him a part of the royal family, which is only highlighted by his pale skin and long eyelashes (I imagine that all his eyelashes are also tinted white-ish silver). I'm gonna start talking as if I'm unsure of how he looks because tbh I have no idea what I'm doing, so please bear with me T_T
I believe he's about the same height as Nikolas, (( Eirlys.. is.. if I must use awkward terminology, a bottom, but I can't imagine him shorter than Nikolas. No way, never, nopee- I thought it'd be so cute if he always ducks his head when he's flustered, ultimately making him shorter anyway ;;w;; ))
He's quite slender, making him flexible during combat that pairs well with his quick reflexes.
Personality (can be a bit rough if you want):
((Watch out this is super rough and honestly don't expect him to turn out like an exact match ><))
Eirlys doesn't expect much out of others. He was taught to rely on himself, and always think ahead. Anyone could be an enemy. Anyone could backstab you. No one should be trusted. He only works with people that he finds useful, and befriends people that could be beneficial to his goals. Eirlys almost.. Switches personalities when with one group of people and another (or from person to person), adhering to the other's favorite personalities. Playful and curious with one, brazen and flirtatious with another. With that out of the way, his actual personality is quite interesting. He almost never uses it (as stated before) so it sort of.. meshes with the ones he's created. ((We're talking about his actual self here:)) Eirlys is quite emotional, and his skin flushes at any strong emotion. It's blotchy, coloring his cheeks and making its way to the nape of his neck. He hates being looked down upon, and will hold grudges against people that have wronged him, no matter how small the issue.
Magic (within reason, no OP) (please include how he got it, as well. Keep in mind that most forms of magic are illegal/frowned upon):
Eirlys has the ability to manipulate his pain receptors. For example, if he gets stabbed, he is able to shut them off, therefore avoiding the pain of the injury. However, this does not affect his stamina. If he gets too weary during battle because of the strength used to block and attack enemies, as well as the mental strains of blocking off one too many different wounds from feeling the pain, he will ultimately have nothing to combat it (If he pushes himself too far, he may not be able to feel the strain, which makes it extremely dangerous for him because he may faint at any time and he doesn't know when). He is also able to heal himself, adjusting how fast he can recover from wounds. This combination makes him an excellent unit in the battlefield. But the drawback would be the fact that he is pretty much unable to heal himself during a battle. Why is that? Because, obviously, he can't showcase his magic in front of others. His comrades only know him as someone that is extremely lucky to survive multiple deadly injuries, as well as recover from wounds a bit quicker than other humans. They don't find suspicion in it because his father was the same. (I'm not sure if this is allowed and I haven't asked so I can definitely change this but for now- the power he has was "inherited" by his father.) ((Extra note: He believes he can only heal himself, but he can actually heal others too (and even mess with their pain receptors as well), but it requires much more strain on him, with much less output.))
Favorite food/drink:
Clam soup with noodles ( Search it up; Looks like heavenn /3\ )
Blurb about Country (include name of King):
(( I literally can't think of anything so I'll just… The name of the.. King @X@ )) Ruled by Kaerri Talfryn
Bit of background that will be relevant to the RP (Doesn't have to be their whole childhood/life or anything):
His father is overbearing to a fault, and as one of the only people that know about Eirlys's magic, he personally taught him how to use it. Eirlys swore to himself he would never do this to his own child, if he ever had one. ((If it's alright, I'd like to reveal it in the rp, although if you want I can just tell you outright ;p ))
Other:
When he deliberately heals himself, a faint violet glow emits from the edges of his wounds.

@ElderGod-Icefire

It means that he literally can control the shadows and darkness. He can manipulate it, use it as a weapon, etc.
Well, I was thinking we could do the "First touch" one, where they each have a black mark in the place they first touch their soul mate, that glows when they touch
I really like him!! Little confused by some parts, but that's no biggie lmao. I'm not quite sure what you meant by

((If it's alright, I'd like to reveal it in the rp, although if you want I can just tell you outright ;p ))

I'm not sure what you meant here?

@subliminal_miracles

Ah, okay! Thanks :')
I like the soulmate thing! Does the mark disappear after a bit (after they do the touch )? Or does it stay there.. and glow whenever they touch that spot? lolol
And for the question, I meant that Eirlys was a bit tramautized by how his father taught him to harness his powers, and I had wanted to reveal exactly what his father did to him later in the rp, unless you want me to tell you right now :'0

@ElderGod-Icefire

Np :)
Thanks! It's from tumblr lmao And no, it stays there and yes, glows whenever the spot gets touched lol
Aaahh okay okay, makes sense. Would you like me to start, or do you have questions?

@subliminal_miracles

You can start! :D
I might not be able to reply today because it's quite late over here, but I think I'll have enough time to stay and read your starter before I go~

@ElderGod-Icefire

(Alrighty!)

Nikolas surveyed the camp with a critical eye. He had already broken up two fights so far, as the soldiers from the two differing sides had gotten into arguments and fought each other, the hatred between Tesh and Kevra still running far too strong. He was holding a slim cane topped with a silver crow's head. His leg was giving him pain again, and he needed to compensate for that. He could only hope it didn't make him appear weak. He caught one of the Tesh soldiers watching him and sneering, and he bared his teeth in a snarl, golden eyes flashing. The soldier backed away. Nik faced forward again, feeling proud of himself. The camp was set up into two portions. One side for the Kevrans, one side for the Tesh. In the center was a larger tent that would be the meeting place, guarded by men of both armies. His father stood beside him as they surveyed the camp.

@subliminal_miracles

(Not sure where Nikolas and his father was, so I assumed he was to one side of the outside of the tent, specifically, the Kevra side- and so I put Eirlys and his father to the other side because I'm uncreative xDD )
((So I thought about it while I slept, and I kind of want Eirly's soulmate mark on his right hand- Which means they first touch each other when they greet? I thought it'd be so cute if later on they comfort each other by holding hands and watching it glow aldks;fals- ( All we have to do to lag out the "surprise" is to not make them greet each other officially (which is quite easy considering their hatred for each other) ;9 )
If you have any ideas please tell meee))
(Oh btw btw I'm going to assume that during the meeting only the Kings are talking and the princes are just there to.. watch? So basically they won't be talking unless needed, aka the Kings telling them to be friendly)
(One more thing! For clothing, he's wearing something like this- - Sorry the art is really wack but I tried TxT) https://imgur.com/KyA31Gf The bottom.. Just imagine tight pants or something xD The part where the neck armor ends is where the clothes under peek out, something like.. skin tight black long sleeved clothing. The white puffy sleeves go over that- Okay review because I got lost too jflas;
The black clothing under the puffy sleeves under the neck armor, paired with some kind of tights and boots + sword tucked into cover lolol-
I also edited the Character Sheet so you can have a better idea how he looks and how long his hair is! )
Sorry I talk so much ooc ;p
~
Eirlys looked over his soldiers, straight faced with a hand ready on the hilt of his sword. Ever since the two nations had agreed to discuss a peace treaty, tensions between the Kevra and Tesh spiked higher than before. After all, how was one supposed to feel when the enemies they've been fighting since they knew how to pick up a sword were so close to them? Dirty, underhand tactics were already planned in depth by his father in case the Kevra decided to.. Test the waters. Nevertheless, he'd plead with his father to forgo the invitation. They were so close to victory, he could feel the win a hairbreadth away. But he understood the reasoning behind it, no matter how much it made him seethe. With their resources dwindling every battle fought, and men dying to a cause that could've been prevented, it was best to put an end to all of this. Eirlys was sure the other side was also cutting it close, being the ones that sent the invitation.

Watching both sides, he felt a nervous anticipation creep over him. His soldiers were antsy. Eirlys glanced at the Kevra, meeting an eye or two in the process. One stared right back with a look that would be unnerving to most people. They spit on the ground before deliberately treading over it, rubbing it into the cold soil. Eirlys's eye twitched with unspoken anger. He contemplated crushing their head into the ground and forcing them to lick it back up. (( That was the soldier mocking them if I was being a bit vague ;0 )) Instead, he ignored it, head held up high.

He turned to his father, who had already made his way to the others. The two kings exchanged greetings. Eirlys felt the rigidity in their handshake, but made no comment. As the kings invited themselves into the tent, he followed, bowing out of politeness when Crowe (When he says Crowe he means the king) looked his way. And who was the other prince that followed his father in? ..Nikolas Aster Crowe, wasn't it? He thought to himself, eyeing the prince before quickly casting them to a side. Eirlys had already gotten used to the signature black hair ((Okay okay so for this part I kind of just made up the fact that people of Tesh generally have white hair and Kevras generally have black hair, but if you don't like it I'll change it or pretend I didn't write it ><)) of Kevra citizens, but golden eyes were something new. Perhaps they were the eyes of the royal family, much like his violet ones? Eirlys dared not look at other king in the eye without them initiating the conversation first, so the question remained unanswered.

Kaerri motioned him to sit down. He nodded in response, bowing politely once more before taking a seat close to his father.

@ElderGod-Icefire

(first: that works, yeah)
(Second: yeah that works fine!)
(Third: yes, that's correct)
(Fourth: alright makes sense)
(Fifth: ha it's fine)

Nik remained standing with his father for a moment, eyes ghosting over the Tesh prince and king. He kept his chin held high as he limped over to his seat, leaning on the cane. He did his best to keep his lip from curling as he looked over at the Tesh prince. As he remembered what the Tesh soldiers had done to Lizbet, to Aron. How Lizbet had been broken and she would never be the same, and Aron still couldn't handle certain things because they reminded him too much of the front.

Nik leaned his cane against the seat, shaking his head slightly and looking down at the map of the border that was laid out on the table. He didn't speak a word, merely adjusted the map a little so that it lay better on the table.

Crowe and Talfryn spoke for a few moments, cordial if not polite, and then sat in their own seats, across from each other just as the princes were across from each other. They were speaking of nothing, really, just the day and the travels here, each testing the other for weaknesses, for areas that they could take advantage of.

Nik knew that he could appear as a weakness, that his damaged leg would make him seem only a liability in the Tesh's eyes, so he sat up straight and made sure that the leg was not the first thing they would judge him for. His black hair was tied back at the nape of his neck, his golden eyes sparking fiercely in the lighting. His father's eyes were blue, not golden, so no, golden eyes were not a mark of the nobility. Kevrans didn't have that sort of thing. No, Nik's eyes were the mark of the curse.

@subliminal_miracles

(So are people from Kevra called.. Kevrans? Oml sorry that sounded so funny to me for some reason hfdlsa;f-)
(Anyway, I attempted to start a conversation between the two by stealing Eirlys's pride like that bad mother I am uwu)
(To make it less awkward (also since I mentioned Eirlys sat close to his father not next to) , perhaps Nikolas and Eirlys are a few seats down and across from each other? Lmao trying to save Eirlys's butt fdslaj)
~
There were no guards in the tent. They were stationed outside as to prevent information that was shared during this meeting from leaking out. As the Kings took their time with small talk, each with smiling mouths and wary eyes, Eirlys studied the map displayed on the table before him. So they did have 200 men stationed at Nearl. With his previous suspicions answered, he leaned a bit closer, eyes trailing the familiar lines of his father's territory and counting the men in each section under his breath. If the others weren't here, Eirlys would've traced the lines with his finger. It comforted him, knowing that they had reinforcements ready for combat if things went array at this meeting. He glanced at his sword.

The tension in the room simmered down but never quite left. Kaerri seemed to have started the negotiations. Eirlys let out a tremulous breath. No matter how.. Dirty this felt, negotiating with Kevra, he felt lighter each time Crowe nodded in agreement to his father's suggestions. Obviously they weren't convivial, but at least they were agreeable to a point. He noted that Crowe managed to catch most every term that leaned on the Tesh side, as well as pointing out loopholes for ones that seemed rather innocuous. A worthy opponent indeed.

He looked at the prince once more, hands playing at the gold accessories lining his clothing. Nikolas. Nikolas? Nikolas. Eirlys played around with the prince's pronunciation, trying to get comfortable with its sound.

Ni-ko-las.

It was only a few seconds after he stopped that he realized with a start- he'd been murmuring it under his breath. But with a glance at the Kings, it seemed they didn't notice, still deeply engaged in their conversation. At least he was able to save face in front of them, being his words were barely audible. Even so, he felt his face heat up a degree. Nikolas didn't seem to be listening too intently to his father's words, unless he'd been pretending like Eirlys.

Had he heard me? Eirlys reddened ((More like pinkened LMAO-)), attempting to look everywhere but at Nikolas.

@ElderGod-Icefire

(uhm…yes?)
(Ha oof)
(Kk that's fine)

Nikolas had been paying attention, yes, but had slowly stopped as he heard what sounded like…his own name? He arched an eyebrows slightly, turning to look at the other prince, studying him. He's blushing. How adorable. Then he blinked and wondered where the fuck that thought had come from.

"Is there a reason you're whispering my name under your breath?" Nik asked, arching his eyebrow for real this time. "Having ilicit fantasies?" His voice turned slightly teasing, a smirk tugging at his lips as he cocked his head.

Part of him could definitely picture that. And it was…to be honest, the other prince would have looked lovely stretched out on a bed with Nik's name on his lips…no. He cut that thought off. Daydreaming about other men was one thing. Daydreaming about the enemy prince? Never. No matter how pretty he was, he was still the enemy.

@subliminal_miracles

( Sorry for the bad joke I'm a bad person for making you read this lmao )
( Nik is kinky I love him >:3 ) (And I like how he teases Eirlys for dirty thoughts while he daydreams about topping Eirlys lmao)
Also tbh Eirlys is inadvertently leading him on and I love him for it xD)
( Should we start to get the fathers to talk to them yet? Because ofc, during this brief period both Eirlys and Nikolas weren't listening to them so "Who knows what they could've been talking about uwu" comes into play lolol)
~
Much to Eirlys's dismay, Nikolas had heard him. His golden eyes bore into him, the smirk on his lips making Eirlys bit back a snarl. At his entirely inappropriate commentary on his mistake, Eirlys grimaced, ducking his head slightly out of habit.

"Wha- What are you speaking of? Preposterous!" He whispered harshly, attempting to keep quiet. If his father heard, he wouldn't be able to take the embarrassment.

"Ilicit fantasies.. The nerve!" Eirlys muttered. For added effect, Eirlys mustered a glare directed at the prince before his eyes shot back down to the map, face blooming with color that contrasted harshly against his pale skin. His hands fidgeted under the table, hoping he'd buy it. He cursed himself for being so foolish and letting his guard down, especially in a place like this. Laugh at me for now, but if I meet you in the battlegrounds..

He decided to focus back into the conversation his father had been keeping up. Just in time as well. They'd already shook hands on the treaty and were stamping them with their seals. Kaerri would probably make him review it later and brag about all the little things he snuck past Crowe. Eirlys relaxed a bit. If this meeting went as well as it seemed, hopefully Eirlys would only need to bear with a few more meetings with Nikolas- At least until he was crowned. ((But that's much sooner than you thinkkk ;3 God I need to stop lmao))

@ElderGod-Icefire

(lol tis fine)
(lol yess he is ;) (yup, that's what he does)
(yeah sure)

Nik was snickering to himself at the blush painted across the other prince's cheeks. "I mean, what other reason would you have for whispering my name over and over again, Eirlys?" he asked in a low tone. He rolled the R in Eirlys' name just a little bit, his Kevran accent twisting the name just a little bit, as he wasn't used to the pronunciation.

He glanced over at their parents, knowing that the whole treaty wasn't over yet. That this was just a rough version that each king would take back to their advisers, and discuss each and every point, then come back with complaints or revisions that needed to be made. Which meant they'd have to come back to this tent in just a few days, and he would have to sit across from the Tesh prince for another while. What a lovely idea that was.

He bared his teeth, wolf-like, just for a moment at that idea. He hated this. He hated that he had to sit here and act like they could all be friends now, like decades of hate could just be erased. Like what the Tesh soldiers had done to his best friends could just be forgotten and forgiven. He hated that he had to act like he had forgiven them for what had been done to Lizbet, for the nightmares Aron had.

He looked over at Eirlys again to see the Tesh prince's reaction to his words, the faintest smirk pulling at his lips again. He ran a hand through his hair, a few strands tugging themselves loose and draping into his face.

@subliminal_miracles

( It's admirable how fast you write! I take a long time just to collect my thoughts and try to formulate a reply that "sort of makes sense" much less watch for grammar+punctuation mistakes T_T I'm pretty sure you could finish a reply before I finish mulling over one flsdajfskl)
( Should they be told separately -as in when they get out of their tent and their fathers inform them of the details- so they approach each other believing that they're the one that's being weird, but really they were both told the same thing? lol )
( Another random thing I realized,,, Eirlys is acting like a tsundere schoolgirl that's sensitive to everything "senpai" facepalm x102032910 I guess he has become this because of my writing, so better embrace it lmaO)
~
".. Don't be unprofessional." Eirlys scowled in distaste, having been successfully reminded of his hatred for all things Kevran. He was sure not all of them were this infuriating, but at the moment it was all he could think of. The Kevran prince seemed to be staring at him intently, making Eirlys lean back in an attempt to put more distance between them. He cringed when his back hit the chair, realizing this was the best he could do for now. If they weren't in such an.. Inconvenient place, he would've attempted to cover his face.

A small part of him latched on to the way Nikolas said his name, though that was swatted away the instant he spotted the look Nikolas gave him- Perhaps it wasn't for him, but it definitely had something to do with his people. Eirlys didn't like others looking down on his people. However, it wasn't only reason. Even though it was but for a brief moment, he saw a familiar face that he hadn't expected, at least during this meeting. Or even, from the prince in general. It surprised him. Eirlys kept a straight face, though his hands inched closer to his sword in case things got out of hand.

It was no secret that war did things to people, even if Eirlys had never personally been affected because of his.. affliction. But he had seen it work its magic on his people, as well as the Kevrans. Often in the midst of combat, he'd spot one or two of them, the pain and anger from influences in the past taking over their logical reasoning. They were also the ones that he killed the quickest. If they utilized the adrenaline rush correctly and strategically used their strengthened abilities, they may have survived longer. But Eirlys barely met those kinds of people. Nevertheless, they ultimately died by his hands. Nikolas..

What have you been through? Something that makes you like this?

He blinked, surprised he had been thinking about the prince. Eirlys looked back at the prince, examining his face for answers to his questions. The Kevran prince had ruffled his hair a few seconds before, and Eirlys felt an inexplicable urge to tuck it behind his ear like he did whenever his own hair fell. Strange. He thought, wondering why he was acting so weird today. It must have been because he hadn't properly eaten his breakfast this morning. He never felt right if he didn't eat enough. Yes, that must be it.

@ElderGod-Icefire

(thanks! Ahaha i don't usually think about it as much as I just…write i guess??? idk lol)
(wait…about what? Sorry I get confused sometimes :l )
(lmao)

"You still have not answered my question." Nik replied, folding his hands together and smirking over at Eirlys. "So I suppose I must assume that the answer is yes, you were daydreaming about me." he glanced over at their fathers, who were standing and preparing to leave, their voices low as they continued speaking of the treaty.

Peace…how can we have peace? How can we have peace with a country like this one? Nik wondered as he pushed himself upright, picking up his cane and leaning on it a bit. His left leg was giving him trouble again, and he needed the cane today more than he usually did. The scarring on his left leg gave a twinge, and he winced just a little bit, shifting more of his weight to his right leg.

His father glanced over at them for a moment, before returning his attention to the Tesh king, his copy of the treaty held in his hands. Nik knew his father would talk to him about the treaty once they left, so he didn't bother to ask questions now. Asking questions would only lead to issues right now.

( I meant when they go and break the news that they have to be friendly to each other- And it's alright! I know I get cryptic at times because I'm not the best at describing things xC )
( Tbh this entire scene reminds me of kids whispering to each other during class.. While the teachers are talking fsjlafklds Or maybe even just throwing hate notes at each other in the form of paper airplanes lmao )

"I- That's not it!" Eirlys stammered, wholly out of his comfort zone. What was this? Did Nikolas enjoy messing with him? He grit his teeth, trying to come up with some smart insult to fire back. The only reason he'd messed with his name was because he didn't want to get it wrong and start off on the wrong foot- after all, they were similar in quite a few ways- but now that was completely out of the question. Nikolas Aster Crowe. Eirlys crossed his arms, letting out a sigh. Admittedly, his name was quite pretty. Undeniably unfit for the person it was meant for.

"Ugh.. I can't believe someone with so much hauteur is the prince of Kevra." He stood up and pushed the chair back into place, ready to head back out and join his father. On the way, he noticed a Nikolas walking with a slight.. Limp? Eirlys did a double take, slight frown warped his regal features. The cane wasn't just decoration. His fingers twitched nervously when Nikolas winced, holding back violet sparks.

I wonder if that's treatable..

Eirlys let out a heavy breath. Not like I'm able to help others with this… Is selfish magic a thing? Boots clicking on the hard ground met the gritty soil outside, quieting down significantly. Back in the tent, the layered material used to set it up had kept the insides warm. The sudden transition made Eirlys shiver. Pulling on the sleeves of his clothing, he nodded to Kaerri, who handed him the papers.

"Review them and meet me at noon the next day. We'll discuss it then." He paused, smirking. Eirlys waited patiently, knowing he'd pulled some strings back in that room.

"Listen here, El. Get close to that Crowe kid, he'll be useful soon. And at any case, it'll be a good image. Y'know, play buddy-buddy, at least for now. Yeah?" Kaerri smiled. Eirlys felt a chill down his spine, but ignored it. When it came to his father, it was best to stay amenable. He nodded once more, even though he felt the disgust build up in unspoken words. Get close to.. Nikolas? How was he going to pull this off? Eirlys had no one close to him- for obvious reasons- so he had no idea what kind of person he was like. Other than, well, that disturbing incident in the tent. If Nikolas acts this way normally, hash it all. Even a nine feet pole wouldn't be a long enough distance.

@ElderGod-Icefire

(oooh yeahh lmao sorry! Yeah that's fine)
(sjhfgjhk same??)

Nik snickered softly at Eirlys' stammering denial, and followed his father out. He was limping as he walked, leaning on that crow-headed cane, his left leg staying on the ground for as little time as possible. Maybe he could soak it later? In a hot tub of water? That usually helped with the pain. Of course, if necessary he could take some medicine or rub salve into the scar, but it didn't matter right now. Obviously he couldn't do any of that at the moment.

His father handed him the treaty. "Nikolas. You need to be on good terms with the Tesh prince. We want this treaty to work, remember?" his father's voice was careful. "We want this bloodshed to end."

Nik clenched his jaw, and had to stop himself from crumpling the treaty in his fist. "Why?" he hissed. "Why do we have to make a treaty with these…these monsters?" Sure, the prince is prettier than some women I've met, but that doesn't change the fact that they're all monsters. "You know what they did to Lizbet! How many problems Aron has now because of them! And you're saying that we have to make peace with them??" he demanded, glaring at his father through narrowed golden eyes.

His father sighed quietly. "I know." he said gently, reaching out to put a hand on Nik's shoulder. "I know that you're still hurting, I know that…that what they did to Lizbet was something that cannot be forgiven. But we have to put that behind us. Both of our countries are weakening. We need this."

"To hell with needing it!" Nik lashed out. "We could push them all the way back to their fucking capital! Kill them as we go, no prisoners taken and no quarter given. Then we wouldn't need to waste men on guards." his eyes gleamed even as he knew that this plan was a cruel one. "We could beat them, father, I know we could. One big push, arrow shaped, drive all the way to their capital and put their leader's heads on stakes on the city walls." his voice turned a little bloodthirsty, even as his heart gave a soft pang at the idea of Eirlys' pretty head on a pike.

His father narrowed his eyes. "Nikolas." his voice was firm. "I know you think we could, but the cost in bodies would be too high. It's too high, Nik. Maybe we could do it, but our fighting force would be destroyed. I know you would rather see them destroyed, but this treaty will save lives on both sides."

@subliminal_miracles

( Hmm, should we timeskip? I feel like the rest of the day would be uneventful- maybe we can have them meet the next day in.. Well I mean they are in a military camp so maybe they'd meet there and one asks the other for a spar? I feel Eirlys would wake up really early in the morning, so it'd just be them :3 withbeautifulviewofthesun- )
( Anyway, yeah that's all I have lol- Remember to use wooden swords for safety reasons ;9 )
( Edit: Something to take notice, my "action" posts (such as fighting) are usually much shorter than normal ones because of course, Eirlys isn't going to touch on 3 topics, think about what he ate for breakfast, and have some flashback about his past just to block a jab xDD Fighting scenes rely on both partners, so I'll just leave it at that in case you have some expectations about length :'0 )
