“Haven’t you learned your lesson about declaring you victory before it happens?” Ashley laughed as she shuffled the cards so they could play again.
“Haven’t you learned your lesson about declaring you victory before it happens?” Ashley laughed as she shuffled the cards so they could play again.
"I'm confident this time," Lucas argued. "You're going down, down, baby!"
Ashley chucked and dealt out the cards. “Whatever you say, babe…”
10 minutes later:
“You’re mean,” Ashley mumbled as she drew four cards. “Pick a color.”
Lucas looked at his cards.
"Red," he answered, trying to fight off a smile.
Ashley tried not to grin as she looked down at her 85% hand of red cards. “It’s still your turn, by the way.”
"Oh, right," he muttered, picking up red, 3 from his hand and threw it in the pile. "Red, 3."
“Red skip… Red reverse… Red four,” Ashley murmured as she placed each card down.
Lucas rolled his eyes.
"Red skip, green skip, green 6…" He set them down, smiling. Just a few more cards to go…
Ashley grumbled and played a green two. This was going to be an interesting game…
Five more minutes later:
Lucas sighed as he placed a green 5 on the pile.
“This game is going nowhere.”
“Not yet, but I’m sure it will soon,” Ashley said as she placed down a Wild Draw 4. “Blue.”
Lucas groaned and picked up four cards.
“I hate you,” he grumbled. “Do continue.”
“Blue draw two, blue skip, blue reverse, uno… blue six,” Ashley chuckled, laying down her last card.
Lucas scowled.
“That’s it, I’m not playing with you anymore,” he set his cards away.
Ashley frowned and packed the cards away. “Hey, that’s not cool… Maybe we could play something else? We could play Ludo if you want…”
Lucas looked at her and then grinned, reaching over to peck her on the lips.
“I’m being dramatic,” he said. “I’m not upset over losing.”
“I know, but I still want to play a game with you,” Ashley said with a shrug. “Or… We could do my original idea…?”
Lucas sighed.
“Okay,” he agreed. “We’ll dance. C’mon.”
He stood up, offering her his hand.
Ashley grinned and immediately stood. She pulled her phone out and pressed play on her song before taking Lucas’s hand.
“Thanks, babe. You’re the best,” she said as she stepped close to him.
“Nah, it’s you,” Lucas nuzzled her neck. “Oh, which song is this?”
“I’m Yours by Jason Mraz,” Ashley murmured, wrapping her arms around his neck and resting her head on his shoulder.
Lucas rested his hand on her waist, humming in satisfaction.
“Well, perfect song, huh?” He murmured, moving along the beat with her.
Ashley hummed in response, smiling softly. “I like it a lot, and I thought it would be a good one to dance to.”
Lucas grinned, moving against the beat.
“You thought correctly,” he said. “Perfect song.”
(I haven’t heard the song. Lol.)
(It’s good. I’d definitely suggest listening to it. :)
Ashley pulled back just enough to smile up at him. “Well, I’m glad you like it, then.”
