Lena nodded "He's been doing that since…." she shook her head "since his father left." She smiled sadly "go ahead, I'll be in here if you need anything."
He sighed and opened his eyes. He slowly brought his hands together, letting his fire flow between them in orange wisps. Bringing his hands down to his side, he engulfed himself in his fire, letting It soothe him while at the same time encouraged him. His fire turned blue, creating a halo effect around him. He sighed in content, wanting to stay there forever.
Marina stayed in the doorway. Not interrupting, just watching.
He reluctantly move on and turned his fire back to normal. The fire pulled away from his body into a mass in front of him. With few waves of his hand, he shaped it into a heart
She smiled and formed a ball of water in her hands. She made it grow until she could manipulate it fairly well. Slowly, it formed into a heart slightly smaller than his, she guided it into the center of his.
He cocked his head to the side and smiled, turning around to face her “how long have you been standing there?”
"Long enough," she replied, walking towards him.
"so you saw all of…" He waved a hand, a small flame flying off "that?"
He sighed "fantastic…" he straightened and pulled her into his chest "did mama tell you why?" he asked softly, feeling that it was time to share.
Secret Lair
Rook grinned as he landed in a dark alleyway. He walked over to a dumpster against one of the buildings and pushed it aside to reveal an elevator. He used the retina scan and the doors opened with a pleasant ding. He walked inside. As soon as the doors closed and the elevator began moving down, he removed his mask, and took off his suit, and quickly changed into his usual attire, a red t-shirt, jeans, and a leather jacket. He dropped his suit into a chute next to the keypad and ran his fingers through his hair a few times. The elevator came to a stop, and he composed himself and walked out of the elevator. "I'm baaaaaaaack." He called, his voice echoing throughout the large cavernous lair that was rather maze-like with all of its staircases and different floors, but it was all open and spacious and quite lavish. His footsteps tapped on the polished stone floors as he hurried up a staircase to the second level. He ran his fingers through his hair again before walking into the couch area where they always sat to discuss plans. He grinned again. "You should've seen their faces, it was priceless!!! And I totally ship it."
(AWWWW yus rook! I know your a villain but its always nice when even the bad guy realizes the heroes are a great pair!)
Mania jumped up from the armchair where she'd been sitting for the past hour.
"You're back!" she laughed gleefully.
She flounced over to where he was standing and, patting his head to flatten his disheveled hair, circled him.
"I'm glad you had Fun BUT!" She pushed him backwards. "You left me alone again," she pouted, pulling a face.
Rook rolled his eyes. "Come one, we've been over this. We have to stick to the plan! You'll get your chance, but right now we need to keep the element of surprise. And I got the viruses!"
"Congratulations on the viruses," she admitted, eyeing him. Mania pulled back, crossing her arms. "I want to see this OTP for myself though. Promise you'll take me next time?" she pleaded exaggeratedly.
He sighed "fantastic…" he straightened and pulled her into his chest "did mama tell you why?" he asked softly, feeling that it was time to share.
"She mentioned your father," Marina answered quietly.
He nodded, eyes darkening "yeah. him." he sighed and sat down in the grass, pulling her down with him "Not a story I like to tell often."
She leaned into him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Don't feel obliged to share."
He shook his head "your going to figure out one way or another, he's coming in a few days." He said
Marina lifted her head up in surprise. "Why?"
He shrugged "claims that he's worried about mama and me," he swore in Spanish and shook his head "after all these years, now he's worried."
She kissed his cheek gently. "I promise I'll be here for you."
he broke from his momentary anger and her neck " thank you my water girl."
"Always, my fire boy," she said kindly, reaching up to playfully tousle his hair.
He moaned softly and nudged into her hand "mi linda nena de la agua." he muttered "ready to go to check the city?" he asked
