"W-Well chopping them isn't th-the funnest and if there i-in soups once the f-flavor is drained from them th-there just kinda there and th-ey g-get mushy." Ava said as she finished up peeling the opinion.
"Oh, mushy isn't good." Aika said, nodding. "Why are we using them now?"
"There p-pretty good i-in pasta's though." Ava said as she began to cut the onions.
"Huh. Good to know. Do you need me to start boiling noodles or something?" Aika turned to look at Ava instead of the onion.
"Th-That would probably b-be good." Ava said, her eyes starting to burn.
Aika nodded, filling a pot with water and setting it on the stove. "You look like you're about to cry." She said, worry in her tone as she came back over.
Ava laughed. She stopped cutting the onion and wiped her eyes. "O-Onions have an acid th-that tend t-to make peoples e-eyes burn. H-Have y-you ever heard o-of the saying th-that onions make people c-cry?" She asked.
"I have. I guess I didn't realize it was true though. Is there anything that can help with that? Maybe chewing gum?" Aika asked, already pulling open a junk drawer and riffling around.
"Chewing gum c-can help b-but it's fine." Ava said as she began to cut the onion again.
"You sure?" She still sounded oddly worried, looking back up at Ava.
"Y-Yeah! It's f-fine." Ava said. You could literally be dying and tell everyone that you were fine.
Aika shot one last look at her, before going to pour the noodles into the boiling water. "If you're sure."
Ava laughed. "Wh-Why are you so w-worried?" She asked.
"Because you look like you're about to cry! And it'd have to be bad, for you to cry in front of me."
"Umm…Alright." Ava said, confused why it would be bad to cry in front of her.
Aika noted the confusion, and attempted to explain. "I'm a villain, remember? And my father used to say crying was a sign of weakness, so I feel like that's not the kind of thing you'd want to do in front of a villain." She turned back to the noodles, and mumbled something quiet enough that she thought Ava wouldn't hear. "I'd never use it against you, at least."
"To m-me crying i-isn't a sign o-of weakness. I-It means y-you've had to b-be strong for t-to long." Ava explained as she finished cutting the onion.
Aika paused, and a small smile slowly made it's way onto her face. "Huh. That's an interesting way of looking at it."
"Y-You have any interesting w-way of looking a-at it to." Ava said.
"It's environmental." Aika huffed a wry laugh. "What kind of sauce are we doing?"
"I w-was thinking red." Ava said. "Does th-that sound a-alright?"
"Homemade or store bought? Or! We could start with store bought, and add in our own stuff to make it taste better." Aika said excitedly, talking quickly.
"That's what I-I usually do." Ava said.
"Well, you're brilliant." Aika grinned, grabbing a smaller pot and a can opener.
