Ariella should have skipped passed it but she couldn't help the arising laugh. She mashed her lips together to try and stop it, not even letting the pain of her nose stop her. "Did you just say mate? Say it again." Her face lit up. "I've never heard European's accents before."

Marc blinked as she laughed, not understanding why Americans thought it was funny. “What? I said it earlier too.” he pointed in confusion. “Like those three mates of yours who disappeared after your crash.” he reminded before smirking. “But if you think my accent is funny, you should hear the rest of England. I may have grown up hearing people here talk but sometimes…” he shrugged, chuckling.

Ariella shook her head. "No, it's the Irish in you that makes it better. Even if your Irish accent faded, it's still there." She grinned at him. "Say something else. Tell me an Irish insult." She was having way too much fun with this but at least it was helping with her boredom. Even if it was at Marcus' extent.

Marc felt his face warm as she corrected him about his accent. “I’m not sure if I should thank you or feel like you're making fun of me.” he admitted. “But if you really want to know an insult… A favorite in my family is ‘Gobshite’.” he chuckled. “Though ‘eejit’ is pretty common as well and easy to guess.” he added.

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

Ariella didn't hold back her giggle this tome. She raised her hand to try and cover her mouth and muffle the sound. "What the hell does that mean?" When she finally lowered her hand, she was grinning at him. "And I would never make fun of you. Your language however…."

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“Honestly, I can't remember what gobshite means but calling someone one is both fun and insulting.” he chuckled. “But… dá dteastódh bheinn in ann magadh a dhéanamh de do theanga go héasca freisin, you scut.” he teased in Celt Irish.

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

Ariella rolled her eyes playfully. "How do you not know what it means if you grew up around it all the time." She shook her head. Her gaze focused back on him as he spoke celtic. Her eyes widened and she listened intently even though she didn't know what he was saying. "What does that mean?" She asked.

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“I just forgot is all. I’ll probably remember when I have to call someone one.” Marc shrugged, though he relished the look on Ariella’s face as she processed the second language he used. “I just told you that I could easily make fun of your language too and called you a cheeky rascal.” he grinned.

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

Ariella grinned at him, teeth and all showing. "Cheeky, maybe, but I'm not a rascal. I'm gorgeous. There's a difference." She wiggled her eyebrows at him. She relaxed back into the hospital bed. She supposed he was right, there were some words in America that were just strange. And everyday, the newer generations were coming up with weird slang she didn't think she would ever fully understand.

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

Ariella narrowed her eyes at him. "What do you mean by that? Not just my driving? What else is there?" She thought she had done alright having been the first time she drove in Europe. Everything was backwards! It was confusing. And she was being chased by someone that wanted to murder her. She was in distress!

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

Marc held his hands up in a placating gesture and gave Ariella a friendly smile. “Well, you did crash and any other time I would have asked if you had been drinking.” he pointed out. “But you are pretty cheeky also, not a bad thing, and… I know you are just being cheeky but a lot of my colleagues would have an issue with you trying to seduce them.” he added with a look before smirking. “Not to mention that you probably would have tried to escape if I didn't request guards for your room.”

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

"You try driving the wrong way and getting chased by mercenaries and we'll see how well you do," Ariella grumbled under her breath. It wasn't her fault that the rest of the world drove on the wrong side of the road. "Well, there's a reason I'm flirting with you and not them, isn't there?" Her grin came back to her cheeks. She only winked at him as he mentioned her escaping. She could do it even with the guards posted at the front but she had decided otherwise.

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“Excuse me but which one of us is from the country that uses a different scale of measurement and temperature from the rest of the world?” he teased softly, though he made note of her comment on mercenaries. Marc laughed at her response and grinned. “For exactly this reason. I’m not as uptight as they are.” he grinned back as he took her wink to be a confirmation of his suspicion.

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

Ariella couldn't help but grin at him. "There's nothing wrong with wanting to be special. Leave our measuring system alone." She thought it was absolutely stupid that the U.S. used a different system than the rest of the world. It was confusing and pointless but there wasn't anything she could do about it. "And that is exactly why you're my favorite." As if she had actually met any of the other cops.

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“Oh? And how many officers have you met?” Marc chuckled, equal parts teasing and curious. He doubted she had much of a chance to talk to the ones that had been here today but so much of her attitude, this far, seemed to tell him that she avoided crossing with law enforcement.

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

Ariella looked him with an open mouth, pausing. "….That is beside the point. Just take the compliment." She didn't think she had this much fun in awhile. She could be carefree and didn't have to look over her shoulder. She wasn't worried about accidently offending someone and getting a knife in her stomach. It was nice, but she knew it wouldn't last long.

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

“Oh, I’m taking the compliment. I was just wondering what kind of competition I had.” he grinned. It was amazing what kind of information a person could get just from reading another’s expression and body language. Then again most English people he knew walked like they had a pole up their back and always acted so “proper”. It was actually nice to meet someone who didn't.

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

"No competition. At least not yet." She winked at him. Never let a man k kw his position was secure. Someone coukd always come along and if he acted up? Well, on to the next. "You should get something from the cafeteria. They have good food here." She didn't actually know if it was good, it was just food from Earth and she had missed it. She missed having juicy burgers and sweet that should give her diabetes. Most other realms didn't have such delicacies.

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

Marc raised a brow at the wink but kept smiling. He had to admit, Ariella was an interesting young woman and very fun to talk to. “I’ll wait a bit longer. I don't want you getting any ideas.” he smirked, guessing why she wanted him to leave. “Or I could call an orderly and have something brought here.” he suggested.

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

"I would never get an idea. Idea? What that?" Ariella grinned at him. Her biggest concern about making her great escape was finding some pants. She wondered if she'd be able to find an extra pair of scrubs somewhere like th nurses wore. It would be more comfortable and she wouldn't worry about flashing the whole world.

But just as she opened her mouth to say something, the power shut off in the building. She had jinxed it hadn't she? She knew this was no normal power outage. They had come for her. Whoever they were, and it was time for her to leave. She murmured a quiet curse under her breath as she started to take the tape off around her IV. She needed it out so she could run.

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

Marc just had enough time to laugh a little at her joking questions before the power went out. The sudden darkness made him raise a brow as he stood up. This didn't feel right. And while he missed the word Ariella used, he caught her tone easily. “Friends of yours?” he asked, his hand hovering next to his gun.

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

Ariella pulled the IV out of her arm, whimpering at the pain. Blood pooled in the crook of her arm where the catheter had been in. Looks like she was going to have to do this pantless. She hopped off the bed, rummaging through the drawers trying to find something sharp. Mayne someone was stupid enough to leave behind a scalpel. She found a pair of scissors and decided it would work well enough.

"Maybe," she spoke in a low voice. "Best case scenario it's just a blackout. Hope that it's just a blackout."

@FanfictionFanatic-The-Elder group

Marc had been watching the door just waiting for someone to force their way in. He wasn't looking for a fight but he had a strong gut feeling that one was about to happen. He glanced over his shoulder at the commotion she was making and his eyes widened. “What do you think you’re doing?” he whisper-yelled, strongly tempted to rush over and take the scissors away from her.

@ElderGod-yellowqueen

Ariella looked at him with a face that said: what does it look like I'm doing? "Trying to not die!" She whisper-yelled back. These people were here for her. She wasn't going to let them take her. Besides, the scissors were for her to use on herself, not the assailants. She would need to draw enough to blood to use the portal. There was one nearby, she could feel it, she just needed to get to it.

"I don't know about you but I'm not gonna stay in here and just wait for them to come get me." She started walking towards the door, scissors in hand and ready to use them if necessary. She wasn't sure exactly who was coming for her, or what they would look like to regular mortals, but she didn't want to stick around and find out.
