Lori smiled back, holding Ellie’s hand as she lead the way up to the deck. “I… I love you so much, my darling.”
Lori smiled back, holding Ellie’s hand as she lead the way up to the deck. “I… I love you so much, my darling.”
Ellie leaned on Lori's arm with an infinite smile on her lips. "And I love you the same," she whispered, closing her eyes in contentment and trusting Lori to lead her.
Lori couldn't help the soft laugh at Ellie’s actions and kissed her forehead.
Once they arrived on deck, Lori let out a loud clear whistle to get the crew's attention. “Everyone! We have a special announcement to make!” she called out as she gently pulled Ellie close to her side. “I have just asked the love of my life to marry me!”
Ellie rested her head on Lori's shoulder and nuzzled her nose into the side of her neck. Though she knew the announcement was coming, she blushed something fierce and leaned into Lori.
The crew, of course, immediately stopped what they were doing at the Captain’s call. Though most of them were already smiling as Lori spoke, anticipating the former Princess’s answer.
Lori chuckled softly as Ellie leaned against her and gently took her fiancee's hand. “And she has, amazingly, said yes.”
Ellie brought Lori’s hand to her lips and placed a sweet kiss to the back of it. “Was there any other option?” she cooed lovingly.
Lori smiled softly at the sweet whisper and kissed her cheek as the crew cheered loudly in approval.
“About time you two!” Marc called out teasingly but genuinely happy for them.
“Oh quiet you!” Lori laughed back. “Jax? Will you perform the ceremony? Today.”
“Cap’t, it would be my honor.” Jax smiled proudly.
Ellie grinned broadly. The ring on her finger was dazzling in the sunlight, and she couldn't wait to become the wife of her beloved pirate. Ten years, she'd waited. If she had to, she'd wait for ten more, but that wasn't necessary. Lorelei was here, now, and about to be her bride.
Lori smiled, her heart pounding in excitement. “I'm going to get changed. Then you can take your turn, that way I don't see your dress until the big moment.” she said willing to abide by the wedding traditions.
Ellie nodded eagerly. “Alright,” she said, breathless with excitement. She hugged Lori’s arm tightly and squealed. “I can’t believe we’re going to get married!”
Lori smiled and kissed Ellie’s forehead. “Believe it, my love.” she whispered. “I'll be right back.” she assured, starting to pull a way to get ready.
“Captian!” Charlie spoke up. “Perhaps Ellie can get her dress first? I can help her get ready, if the dress needs any adjustments.” she suggested.
Ellie was about to let Lori go when Charlie spoke up. “I forgot about that,” she remarked, looking over at her fiancée. “I don’t mind going first, but it’s up to you, my darling.”
“Oh. No, I meant that the Captain could still get dressed in her quarters while I help you below deck.” Charlie clarified. “That way there's no shuffle trying to get around each other.”
Lori nodded at the suggestion. “That does sound easier. What do you think, Ellie?”
Ellie flushed with embarrassment at not understanding Charlie’s directions. “Oh, right. Of course. Yes, that sounds much easier. Let’s do it.”
Charlie smiled warmly at Ellie and nodded. “I’ll meet you below then. Once you get your dress.” she assured before heading down.
“You go ahead, love.” Lori smiled, kissing her cheek.
Ellie smiled and waltzed across the deck to Lori’s cabin. She re-emerged a few moments later with a white ball of fabric in her hands. “No looking!” she cried playfully as she bolted across the desk and descended into the galley.
Lori laughed as Ellie raced across the deck but made sure to cover her eyes at the princess’s call.
“She’s below now, Cap’t.” Jax informed once Ellie was out of sight.
“Thank you, Jax.” she smiled before heading to her cabin.
Ellie descended the stairs in a fit of giggles. She was ecstatic. She was getting married!
"Charlie? I have my dress," she called out.
“I’m right here.” Charlie smiled as she walked around a corner holding a stool and sewing box. “Let’s see how it looks.” she said calmly but she was excited for the both of them.
Lori couldn't stop smiling even if she wanted to. She was actually getting married! To her beloved Ellie!
Ellie quickly changed out of her buttercup yellow dress and into her creamy white one. It had a lower-cut V-neckline with shorter sleeves and a long skirt that came down to brush the floorboards of the ship. She pressed her lips together shyly once she had the garment on. "Well? What do you think?"
Charlie turned away, respectfully, as Ellie changed her clothes and only turned back once the princess spoke again. “It looks beautiful.” she smiled as she set down the stool. “Would you like me to alter it in any way? Maybe shorten the hem a little?” she offered.
Lori quickly scrubbed her face with the little water left in the basin and fixed her hair. Her suit was already hanging up in her wardrobe but she wanted to look her best for this.
Ellie flushed at the compliment. "Thank you." At the other woman's suggestion, she nodded eagerly. "Yes, could you please? I want it to be perfect for Lorelei."
Charlie chuckled softly and smiled at Ellie. “My dear, you could walk up on deck in rags and Lori will still think you look perfect.” she reminded. “Now, step up on the stool, and I’ll get to work.”
Lori had to let out a slow breath to keep her heart from pounding out of her chest as she looked at her suit. “I can do this. Everything is going to be fine. Better than fine.” she amended with a brightening smile.
Ellie beamed. "And I could say the same about her," she said, stepping up with slightly shaky motions, but once she was up, she balanced well. "But I still want to look my best for her. My wife." The words excited her even more as they passed her lips. This was going to be the happiest day of her entire life.
Charlie smiled as she got to her knees and took out a needle, some plain white thread, and a few pins. “No doubt she feels the same way.” she pointed out. “Let's see… I’m not going to make it too much shorter. Just enough that it won't catch on anything and you'll be able to get up the stairs easily enough.” she informed as she folded the hem slightly to show what she meant.
Lori took her time putting on each piece of her suit and making sure that it was laying right before moving on to the next piece, unknowingly proving Charlie right. She wanted to look her best for Ellie. Even going so far to debate if she wanted to use the little bottle of elegantly scented perfume that she had originally purchased for Ellie. But she had said that it suited the pirate captain better.
