…Can I get a synopsis of the plot idea? Cause I would be down to do this with you.
Sure! Give me a minute
Simply put, a Princess and a common girl who had to steal to survive fall in love. But after the King catches the two together he provided the thief with clothes, food, a machete, and a ship, and told her to leave his kingdom and his daughter alone. But just before she left, the commoner gave her Princess a necklace with the words of this shanty carved into it as a physical reminder of her promise to come back… and one day, X years later, she does. Based on this tiktok
Yooo, that's a great plot! I very much would like to do this with you if you want me to.
I'd be glad to have you!
I already have a character in mind for the thief and some crew members for the ship, if that's ok with you.
Yeah, that's fine! I can be the princess and any main non crew member ships we need.
Yay! Thank you!
Do you want to do a chara sheet or go in blind?
I'm good with either. If we go in blind we can start faster.
That's true. And I'm fine with going in blind since I already have my characters ready to go.
And I have a pretty good idea of what who I want to use.
Alright. I can get a starter up for my character whenever you're ready.
I'm ready whenever you are.
(Yay!)
The rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the hull had become quite calming over the years since being forced away. Especially during the lonely nights when there was hardly anyone to talk to or anything to do other than look over maps and charting the next destination for the Siren’s Song. Not the original name, of course. The King who gave this vessel to its current Captain wouldn't dream of something so meaningful. … At least, meaningful to her.
A sharp knock on the door snapped the Captain out of her thoughts. “Come in.” she commanded easily.
“Fergive t’e intrusion, Cap’t.” the first mate, Jax, replied as he followed his Captain’s orders. “Gist t’ought you would like ta know. T’e lad, Tommy, spotted land. We should be able ta make port before morning.” he reported with his crooked smile.
Lorelei‘s eyes widened at the news before a wild grin overtook her expression. “Very good, Jax. I wasn't expecting us to be so close. Thank you.” she nodded, dismissing him. “Make sure everyone gets some rest before we arrive. I want to make a good impression on this kingdom.” she smirked as she looked out her window. “Sleep well, my Princess. I’ll see you tomorrow.” she whispered once she was alone.
Aliana was staring out of the sole window in the tower her father had moved her to after Lorelei's departure (and Aliana's subsequent attempt to run after her). Her thumb ran over the necklace Lorelei had gifted her right before her departure. The words carved into the necklace were long carved into Aliana's memory and her heart longed for the day Lorelei fulfilled the promise she made to Aliana. Though soon Aliana would be forced to break the promise she made to herself to wait for Lorelei.
As she pulled away from the window, her eyes fell to the opposite side of the room where Aliana's wedding dress stood, haunting her. After being able to hold off suitors for so many years, her father finally got fed up with her unwillingness to marry. She was now engaged to a prince she had never met and knew nothing about. And her wedding was supposed to take place two days from now.
Aliana tore her eyes away from the dress and crawled under the covers of her bed. She made sure her back was to the, dress, and shut her eyes. Hopefully Lorelei would come back for her soon. Hopefully.
For all her talk of making sure that the crew would be well-rested, Lorelei could not make herself fall asleep. She lay in her quarters for hours, tossing and turning, full of excitement and anticipation to see Aliana again. How many years had it really been? Ten? Fifteen? She wasn't sure… But perhaps that was something the King had been counting on. It wouldn't surprise her. After all, a Princess and a common girl; a thief no less, was an absurd and forbidden idea in the King's eyes. As well as how the people would view the whole thing. Well, she’d show him. She’d show them all.
She didn't know when she finally managed to get some sleep but she was jolted awake by the familiar chaos of Jax shouting orders and the crew scrambling about like a headless chicken to make ready. The Captain smirked a little at the thought of what it meant as she got up and put on her best suit, making sure that the sword the King gave her was in plain view against her leg. Of course, she also had gathered a few other weapons during her time, such as the elegant rapier and a simple pistol that hung off her hip and a few daggers she kept hidden at all times.
Donning her Captain’s hat, Lorelei Jones sauntered on deck. Her long coat swished behind her as her knee-high boots followed a path her heart would not forget.
Aliana was woken at the break of dawn by maids rushing into her room. Usually, there were only one or two maids that came to wake her, but today there were five currently invading her room. She rubbed the sleep away from her eyes as she spotted the head maid and confidant, Hailey, in the room and called out to her, "Hailey? What is going on?"
"His majesty is insisting you and you're betrothed get wed this very instant," Hailey replied sharply as she pulled Aliana from her bed and towards the bath that had been prepared. Aliana's eyes went wide as she was unceremoniously plopped into the warm bubbly bath. One maid began to roughly scrub her scalp and hair, two of the maids began to shave her leg and armpit respectively, and the fourth began to wash Aliana's body down. Aliana's eyes remained on Hailey, "What? The wedding isn't supposed to be for another day."
"Not anymore your highness," Hailey replied as the maid went to grab the different pieces of jewelry that were gifts from her suitor. Aliana simply let out a sigh as her eyes closed. It seemed that Lorelei had run out of time. The rest of the preparations went by in a blur and the next thing Aliana knew she was standing in front of her mirror.
Her golden locks had been done up in one of the fanciest buns Aliana had ever seen. A glimmering white diamond tiara rested on her head. A thin white lace veil covered her face and the rest of the veil sparkled in the candlelight as it trailed down to the floor and then almost 12 feet more. The only part of her face she recognized was her brilliant ocean eyes the rest having been covered by makeup in order for her to look the part of the blushing bride. From ears dangled two golden roses with diamonds in the center of the petals. On her neck was the necklace from Lorelei, though the sea chanty rested against her skin rather than out for the world to see, and a gold chain that held a brilliant, and quite large, sapphire pendant resting on the top of her breasts. She was wearing two white rose-laced gloves that ended at her biceps. Adorned on her arms were the many bracelets her betrothed had sent. A tight golden band with rubies on each of the swirling ends was firmly on her left bicep. It's silver with sapphire's twin on her right bicep. Each wrist had at least 5 different golden bracelets with a wide variety of gems and styles. The most noticeable bracelet was the simple silver bands on each wrist that Aliana was quickly likening to shackles. Each finger was adorned with a different ring, and her engagement ring was a gold ring with a perfect diamond resting in the center.
As if all the jewelry was enough, Aliana hadn't even gotten to the dress or the strings her father called undergarments she had been forced to wear underneath. She could hardly breath from the constraining corset rubbing against her skin that was there to give her the desired hourglass figure and accentuate her breasts by forcing them together increasing their size. And the dress, oh dear god the dress. It was the purest white and made with the finest silk her father could purchase. The bodice hugged her corseted torso and the top barely covered the corset underneath. And it most definitely did not cover a good majority of her breasts leaving her feeling quite exposed. The skirt of the dress however clung to her hips before flaring out with layer upon layer of tule underneath the silky top layer and a train that was at least ten feet long behind her. The entire gown was embellished with diamond roses, swirls, and lace appliques. Aliana hated all of it.
"Are you ready, your highness?" Hailey asked as the other maids pulled and tugged on the fabric or Aliana to finish the look. Aliana let out a long sigh as she took one last look out the window which faced away from the sea before looking back to Hailey, "I suppose I will have to be."
Lorelei kept her head held high despite the tightness in her chest. Her steps stayed true as a million thoughts swam through her head… Would Aliana recognize her? Would the King? She’d changed so much from that pale naive scrawny girl into a strong confident and competent Captain. It hadn't been an easy road and she had the scars and weathered hands to prove it. Though her biggest concern was; what would she do when they arrived? It seemed doubtful that she would be able to just walk through the front gates… Even if she turned on her charms. The thought of sneaking in and taking Aliana away from here was quite tempting but she knew she and her crew would be hunted down to the end of the world for “kidnapping” a Princess.
But something felt wrong. The whole town seemed busier than she remembered. What was really setting her on edge was how well dressed everyone was. This wasn't normal and, by her calendar, it wasn’t a holiday or festival… Not to mention the number of guards only seemed to grow as they approached the castle.
“Cap’t?” Jax called softly, placing his hand on her shoulder.
“I’m fine.” she nodded as she tried to ignore the look he gave her before pulling away and turning towards the nearest stranger. “You there!” she called out, slipping into more of a sailor’s accent than she ever had. “Be there a special occasion I was not aware of? I have not been to these shores in years.”
“Oh, yes. Quite special.” they answered cheerfully. “The Princess is finally getting married today. I don't know why it took so long for their Majesty's to arrange it but…” they shrugged.
The news pierced Lori’s heart. For a moment she felt like she couldn't breathe. No. No, she wouldn't allow this. “The Princess? Princess Aliana?” she asked as she tried to hide her emotions.
“Yes. Who else?”
“Th… Thank you.” she murmured softly as she gave them a silver coin and walked onwards with one destination still in mind more determined than ever. Damn the consequences. That marriage wasn't going to happen!
Aliana slipped into the high white heels with sparkling gems near the toe before making her way out of her bedroom and down the tower steps. In front of her was Hailey holding the keys to the entrance of the tower. Behind her trailed the gaggle of maids holding up the veil and train to keep them from getting dirty on the way down. Aliana was all on her own holding the front skirt of the dress up. Five flights of stairs later, Hailey was unlocking the bottom door and they were on their way through the castle from there. Aliana was led to a small side room that was facing the inner rim of the castle and had no windows. She looked to Hailey, "This isn't as planned. Something happened to make father do this did it not?"
"I do not know your highness. Only where to bring you and what to do," Hailey responded as another maid shut the door behind them. The other three maids went to grab something from a nearby tabletop and began to spray perfume on Aliana's already heavily rose-scented body. Aliana had to control her face to remain neutral though she wanted to twist it into a tight frown, "Are we still to be wed in the castle garden?"
"Yes your highness," Hailey replied. Aliana nodded silently as she turned to face the door. She supposed this would be the room she would remain in until her father dragged her to be wed.
“Cap’t!” Jax called again, before grabbing her shoulders and making her look at him. “Lori… List’n ta me.”
Lorelei blinked rapidly at the touch, not realizing how focused she had been. “Jax… Take your hands off me.” she growled.
Her first mate smiled softly and shook his head. “Not yet, Cap’t.” he said gently. “I know how much this lass means ta you. She’s all you talked about when we met.” he reminded with a chuckle that made her blush. “An’ if she feels as strongly as you, then I don't t’ink this was her choice. But I do t’ink that you need a plan other than just barging in if you want ta get in and out of this place.” he said, showing how well he knew his captain.
Lorelei smirked at Jax’s teasing advice and nodded. “I’m sure she does.” she whispered, as Jax let her go. “You’re right though. I do need a better plan.” she agreed with a light sigh. “First, I want you to get back to the Song and make sure she's ready to sail at a moment's notice. Depending on how things go, that may be the best chance we’ll get.” she instructed. “And don't leave the ship unmanned, but bring some of the crew towards the castle and wait for my signal.”
“Aye, Cap’t.” Jax nodded. “But be careful. I don't t’ink we want ta set loose t’e twins ta break you out of jail.” he smirked.
“You know me, Jax. I'm always careful.” she smirked back before disappearing into the crowd with a new purpose.
The king came to get Aliana after she was waiting in the small room for a good ten to twenty minutes. He stepped inside and beamed at the sight of his daughter in her wedding dress. Aliana stared back at her father as she could feel his eyes rolling over her form resting an uncomfortably long amount of time on her breasts. She cleared her throat softly and his eyes snapped up to her face. He walked up to her daughter and held her hands, "You look beautiful, darling."
"Thank you father," Aliana responded cooly. The maids took this as their cue and got into place to move the train once more. She held her father's stare as she asked, "Why has the wedding moved to today?"
"Because your betrothed requested it to be moved," her father taking her arms in his and resting his hand uncomfortably close to her chest, "Something about superstitions and what not. Now come, it's time for you to be wed."
Her father did not wait for a response as he nodded to Hailey who opened the door. He began to lead his daughter from the inner sanctions out to the back of the castle where the garden and her dreaded marriage was waiting.
Lori tucked her long black hair into her hat and adjusted her coat as she snuck into the castle with the large crowd. It was a trick she’d learned from her days of being just a simple thief. A mix of enough confidence to seem like she belonged and disappearing.
She let the crowd push her around just enough to guide her to the Castle gardens where the wedding was to be held. Obviously, no one had seen Aliana yet but Lorelei could be patient. She made sure to memorize any details of their path as she could, making note of every door and window she saw. Getting out was always the challenge.
Once the crowd arrived at the admittedly gaudy beautiful scene and started to take their places, Lori crept away and took a position nearest to the door. The waiting would be the hard part… the anticipation of seeing Aliana again was almost agony. She let out a slow breath and tried to focus on what she would do once the show started.
It was a good half hour after Lorelei had arrived that the orchestra present took up their instruments and began to play. The guests that had been seated stood up and turned towards the door awaiting their princess to exit.
Aliana had gotten used to the silence of the halls only accompanied by the clicking of her heels, so when she began to hear the music from the orchestra her heart lept to her throat. There was no escape now. She lifted her head up high as she and her father stood a few feet away from the closed door leading to the garden. The maids carefully positioned the trains behind her and then vanished from sight. Well, all except two maids who walked to the door waiting for the king's signal to open them up. Aliana held in her tears as her father nodded to the maids. The maids pulled the doors opened swinging towards Aliana and her father. Her father had her take the first step towards the open exit and the watching eyes. So she moved, dragging every inch of the 10 foot trains, her face staying a calm neutral despite the tears that wanted to spill over.
