Robin blushed. "Oh, um, thank you…" Did he just say…
Robin blushed. "Oh, um, thank you…" Did he just say…
She noticed! What do I do? "Umm… maybe we could explore the boardwalk later?"
"That sounds like fun," she replied quietly. You're so red…
This is bad! There's no way to fix it. He looked down at the ground to avoid her gaze. His anxiety was bad.
She bit her lip. Did I say something? "Uhm… sir– I mean, Isaac? Are you okay?"
Isaac looked up at her, his gaze intense. "No. I'm never going to be enough for you." The words spilled out of him and he wanted to run and hide. To be invisible so she wouldn't see his blushing, pitiful, face.
Her jaw dropped open slightly. "I…" Words were futile.
He stood there in the silence. Of course she doesn't love him like he loves her.
She took a slow breath to collect her thoughts. "I… I'm sorry that you think that… I thought the same way of myself with you…"
There was no way she could could love him like that. "What d-do you mean?"
"I-I mean, uh… I'm just a secretary… and you're… you…"
"I'm an idiot that thought he ever had a chance with you.", he finished for her.
"No, uh," she stammered, her face turning hot.
"It's fine." He waved it away. He really just wanted to hide and cry.
"I'm just a secretary. You're one of the biggest stars in the world," she said quietly, looking at her feet and blushing furiously.
"You're the biggest star in the world to me.", he said lovingly. But could she really love him?
Robin looked up with wide eyes. "Why?"
He was panicking. "I… I.." He turned and ran.
She stood frozen and watched him go. "Wait!" she wanted to yell, but it came out as a whisper.
He ran off in the direction of the beach. Every part of him wanted and needed to get away.
Robin's legs felt like they were about to give out, so she sat down on a nearby bench. She put her head in her hands and hated herself.
Why would she love me? I'm such an idiot! Why can't I be different? He sat on the beach and cried. People ran past him, smiles on their faces, not noticing him. Or just not caring. He is famous. Everybody thinks wished they were like him, but if they knew what his life where like things would be different.
Robin felt someone sit down on the bench beside her, so she looked up. A man who looked like he lived here was smiling at her. "Hello."
"Um, hi," she replied, wiping at her eyes.
The man frowned and brushed a piece of her hair behind her ear. "What's wrong? Someone as pretty as you shouldn't even need to look so sad."
Robin looked away from him in the direction Isaac had gone. "I'm not sure."
Some girls pointed at him and giggled. "That guy looks like Isaac Whittaker.", they whispered among themselves.
"Yeah. I get that a lot.", he nodded.
"Waiting for someone?" he asked gently.
She thought for a second, then looked back at him. "No. Someone is waiting for me."
