(aaah hi! I'll post for Nemo!)
(aaah hi! I'll post for Nemo!)
Nemo grunted quietly, leading the group from the building and along down the streets. The Nautilus was in the harbor, and they would have to board a pair of smaller boats to get out to it. It could not be docked, seeing as how its technology was not supposed to exist, and it would have caused a stir.
The others followed, Mina opening up her parasol once she was outside. Efraim took up the rear so as to not draw attention to themself, though it wasn’t like they would garner much anyway unless one was looking with particular care.
Sanger followed too, worried about the look Mina had in her eyes about the mention of this Dorian fellow. He didn’t know much about him, but what he did know was that everyone here, like himself, was hiding something. Something that would prove to be quite dangerous, in the end…
(I’m sorry, but this feels too far of a skip. I feel like we should include them finding out about Efraim, if they know about them at this point. If it’s alright with you guys, I can post something a bit before this)
(Ah. I can delete my post. Sorry, just felt like advancing the plot. Post on you own time!)
(No I totally get that, I’m sorry for not posting anything. Often I feel like we have to include every part of what happens (they arrive at the ship, they board the ship, they talk, plus all the details that come with that) but that’s boring and daunting for my brain to think about so I end up not writing anything at all lol. I can just write smth for when they’re already boarded, though)
(Lol ok.)
(Ok rn I have hw but I will post smth asap)
Soon they had all boarded the Nautilus. Quartermain seemed a little queasy at the fact that they would have to spend more time on a boat, but other than that things went rather smoothly. As Captain Nemo set a course for the docks, the others gathered on the main deck.
Mina hadn’t quite prepared for a boat ride, and the heavy, dark dress that she was wearing was starting to make her sweat. She decided to hitch her dress up a little to allow for more movement. The petticoats underneath still covered her skin, so at least she would not burn. Sweating was better than burning.
Dorian… how was he doing these days? She suddenly missed him terribly; now that she was so close to seeing him again, it was like all the sins they had committed together never happened. But she knew she couldn’t assume he missed her in return. It was better to pretend as if they never knew each other. It would make their future time together easier to bear.
Nemo was speaking rapidly with his crew in some language most of the others likely did not speak; Nemo was originally from India, and spoke Hindi, along with a few others of India's languages. His crew, too, spoke the same language. It could have been worrisome for their passengers, that the captain could so easily communicate anything without any of them being the wiser. They would just have to hope that the older person held little to no ill will towards them.
Sherlock stayed at the rail, still feeling a bit nauseous, which was made all the worse by the rocking of the boat. He pressed a hand to his stomach with a faint frown, closing his eyes to see if that helped. It did not, and he opened them again, fastening his gaze on the horizon. He had read somewhere that that could help.
Tom was at home on the water; had practically grown up on it. Well, a river, but still. It was not that different, in terms of the way the boat rocked and swayed with each wave. So he moved along the deck like a natural, smiling a little and just happy to finally be under way.
Sanger wandered the ship for a while, before looking for Mina. When he found her, he announced his presence so as not to scare her, then approached. "Uh, not to be rude Miss Murray, but… you look tired. And if you needed, I could be a friendly face, not as if I know you well but still." he took a moment, then continued. "Do you know this… Dorian Grey?" it would be just a few hours before the group got there, it was a place on the exact opposite side of where they were for now but soon they would be where they needed to go.
(Why am I so brainrot for the Sherlock-has-a-kid subplot? Idk I just want parenting platonic polycule that just. Loves the kid and really is dedicated to helping them??? Ahhh????)
Mina’s eyes flicked in his direction, all thoughts of Dorian ceasing. “Mr. Rainsford. I’m fine, I just… didn’t get much sleep last night.” Technically, she didn’t sleep at all last night. Within a few months of being a vampire, she had become completely nocturnal. She could remember taking a nap here or there, but that was all.
A friendly face, he says… Mina didn’t know if she trusted anyone here that much yet. It was nice of him, but she would have to think on it first.
She nodded slowly. “I knew him a long time ago, yes.”
Efraim had never been on a ship before. It was strange, but they felt they could get used to it. Maybe. The wobbly feeling in their legs wasn’t something they particularly liked. They wandered the deck, anxiously wondering if they should make their presence known.
"I feel like a 'long time ago' is longer than what one would suppose a long time ago would be." Sanger said. "And please, call me Sanger." he sat down on the railing, not particularly caring that he was several feet over the water. With his luck he'd meet another crazy on an island who wanted to hunt humans for sport with him. "Did something happen?"
(Just remembered her name would actually be Miss Murray in this)
(gahdammit. I'll fix that.)
(I'm listening to Sweet Transvestite whilst imagining my introduction scene for Dorian if that tells you anything about my mental state.)
Mina raised an eyebrow, studying him. “And what gives you that feeling?” She asked. Did he know? Of course, the way M. introduced her was suspicious enough, it wasn’t enough to figure out her unusual diet. Perhaps he had simply gathered that she was older than she looked.
She hesitated, trying to figure out how to best formulate her words. “Not anything especially… dramatic. I just realized he was… dangerous for me to be around. Perhaps he’s changed since then, though.”
(Unfortunately I have never heard that song so ig not)
"Nothing. I just thought you might be childhood friends, perhaps… no, it's nothing." he'd been about to say 'lovers' but he had a feeling Mina would kill him just based on the thought. "Well, I suppose that's fair. I had a similar situation. You may have seen in the news a year back about a man… Zaroff. Murderer, possible cannibal, you know. Well, I… he had held me hostage for years. He scared me. It took a while to realize how bad he was for me, so… when I left, it was hard." he admitted.
(Unfortunately I have never heard that song so ig not)
(It's basically my anthem of I am gay and homophobic and very camp and I listen to it when I feel like doing unspeakable things to fictional men. If that helps.)
(Oh ye nice)
(Rocky Horror just does something to ya? Idk?)
(Oh ye nice)
(I'm scared now /j)
