(Btw Ice when you’re ready to respond I feel like this would be a good time for a Nemo moment.)

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nemo appeared practically as soon as the word "captain" left Dorian's mouth, glaring over the edge of the ship at him. "And who might you be?" he asked, voice low and still carrying his accent. He didn't look very happy to see Dorian. Another pasty white englishman? On his ship? He had not signed up for quite so many englishmen.

“Dorian Gray. May I speak to the captain of the ship, please? The famed Mr Nemo, pirate and plunderer of the seven seas.” he said, voice dripping with sarcasm. Sanger started to voice concerns but Dorian continued on. “I’ve no idea who you are, but I’m sure you can tell your boss that Dorian is here and willing to make a deal with him.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nemo's eyes narrowed. "I am Captain Nemo, boy." they spat, glaring down at this pasty-ass pansy that dared be so rude to him. "And I don't make deals with English savages." he indulged themself in the insult; it had been leveled at them so many times that they felt no guilt in sending it right back to Dorian.

Dorian shrugged. “All the better, you just looked different from your wanted posters is all. Younger, prettier even.” Dorian joked, not seeing the error of his ways at all. “May I come aboard? Your M character wanted to see me receive safe passage with your… crew.” he stretched out the last word for a second. Sanger mouthed apologies from below, if only Nemo could hear them.

@ElderGod-Icefire

"No." Nemo's voice was cold. "You may not come aboard, not when you have insulted both myself and my crew. I owe you nothing." he glared down at Dorian, eyes narrow.

Mina was feeling more awake. The sun was nearly below the horizon, and the fight from earlier roused her. She shoved Dorian’s arm.
“Shut up,” she said, then turned to the Captain. “The Phantom found us while we were at his place. Apparently he was looking for me. I’m not sure of what he wants, but we now know that we need to go to France. Apparently our next recruit is residing there.”

Dorian nodded. “I could have explained that in due course, Mina, but thank you very much for womanishly shrilling your opinions for everyone to hear.” he snapped, growling a bit at her in a way that was weirdly animalistic, real in a way. “But yes, we’re here for our next recruit.”

@Tired-but-passionate

Mina glared at him. “I think I speak for most of us when I say that we would rather get to the point than having to wait copious amounts of time for you to finish insulting the Captain and getting settled here, if that happens at all.“ She bared her fangs at him in return.

Sanger piped up, "Yes, that would be an accurate statement Miss Murray." he added. Dorian glared at him, and Sanger could see the glint of murder in his eyes, so he moved out of weapon's reach before Dorian could do anything.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nemo watched the two for a moment. "The rest of you may come aboard. This Dorian fellow…he does not." they said, still glaring at Dorian. Dorian might have been forgiven, had he not been an Englishman. Or he would have been allowed aboard, had he not been rude. Both was not something that he was going to stand for.

Dorian looked a bit taken aback, scratch a bit, a lot. "I don't think you know who I am. I could send people after you. I've slept with the Queen, God save her, and her father at that back in the day. I'm sure I could call in a few royal favors." he shouted. "If you don't want your over-glorified floatie sunk to the bottom of the ocean and you with it, I'd think you'd let me aboard. And, I'm the only one who can find our next recruit. That adds something to the equation."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nemo only looked at him. "You really think your precious queen could ever find me?" he asked. "My ship can do more than you could ever dream it could, and I will not be talked down to by an insolent young man who thinks he may speak however he wishes. This is my ship, and I do not have to take you aboard it. M can get you accommodations, if he is that desperate to have you accompany the rest of us."

Sherlock was silent. Dorian had dug himself into this hole, and Dorian could dig himself out of it. Tom, for his part, thought it was a good comeuppance.

Dorian knew he had to find some way out of this, but as calculating as he could be, he didn't respect Nemo at all and he was too arrogant to come to compromise with the man. "Well, have fun letting Venice explode." he shrugged. Then hesitated. "Fine. What is it you want from me?" he asked, crossing his arms and shifting onto one hip.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nemo only blinked at him, letting Dorian stew for a long moment. "What do you think I want from you?" they asked, arching their eyebrows. They were completely intending to make Dorian grovel, if they could.

“Don’t act like my mother, in any capacity. She was a worthless whore and I don’t take kindly to being treated like a child. I don’t know what you want from me, little boy, that’s why I ask.” Dorian said snidely. He was about a decade, maybe two, older than Nemo, the Captain had no right to treat him like this.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nemo glared at him for a long, silent moment. "And now you will never know." he turned away, fully prepared to just walk away from Dorian. He didn't particularly care if this snide asshole came; but they didn't want him on their ship.

Dorian shouted. “Wait! I mean, I just… I humbly ask for your forgiveness, Captain.” he said, reluctance all too evident in his voice. “If you’ll let me board, I’ll be only the best of assets to your crew.” he promised, although how he’d follow up on that was to be seen.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nemo turned back, arching an eyebrow at Dorian. "I don't see why I should grant you forgiveness. You were blatantly, stubbornly, and crudely disrespectful to both myself and my crew, and instead of accepting that you were wrong, you doubled down upon it. Furthermore, I simply don't like your kind. So why should I let you aboard?"

“I could give you immortality, money, a shag, what will it take? I’m trying to be polite and all you’re doing is refusing it! I know it’s not much of a gift, etiquette that is, but can’t you at least give a man a second chance?” he looked wildly to Mina and then back.

“Shut up, Mina.” Dorian said quietly. “Can we at least come to some sort of agreement?” he sighed, loudly, and very conspicuously to the rest of the group. “You let invisible wonderchild onto your team, but not me? That’s unfair.”

@ElderGod-Icefire

The only word Dorian said that intrigued Nemo was the one of immortality, but they knew it was likely a lie. "Invisible wonderchild's name is Efraim." they said simply. "And I did not let Efraim aboard, he simply came. And as far as I know, he has not said anything to disrespect myself or my crew. You have. I do not usually offer second chances to pasty English pansies, and it is only the agreement with M that is forcing me to even consider granting you one."
