"I have no emotional attachment to colors. Gold, perhaps? Seems the most practical considering how I've spent my life." Kono glanced around at the mountains of coins.
"I have no emotional attachment to colors. Gold, perhaps? Seems the most practical considering how I've spent my life." Kono glanced around at the mountains of coins.
Gemini shook her head, laughing. "Favorite colors aren't practical, you idiot. Some things are actually just for fun. Ok, I've asked you 2 questions. Now its your turn."
"Questions? Uh… I don't generally talk to anyone… how's the hunting in your territory?" Kono asked, still confused.
Gemini laughed again. "I don't know. Humans don't hunt. We raise animals, and then special people turn them into meat so we can eat them. Except for me. I don't eat animals."
"Why not? Meat is a vital part of creatures' diets. It makes up the entirety of mine." Kono's horns were hardly visible beneath his hair by now.
(I have to sleep, sorry!)
Gemini shrugged. "I don't like eating creatures that were once living. It freaks me out. I only eat fruits and vegetables. And almonds."
(Night)
"There's no way that's actually good for you… I would starve to death on a diet like that."
Gemini rolled her eyes. "You're not a human. We can survive on pretty much whatever we want."
Kono really wanted to give a sarcastic retort, but decided against it. "You know, I don't just kill animals for fun, usually. Pretty much just for food. I'm not over hunting or anything. If everyone was 'vegetarian' the ecosystem would be chaotic, as there would be far too many small animals and not enough big ones."
"I have nothing against people who eat meat, I just prefer not to. I'm not saying what you're doing is wrong, I just don't do it," she explained rather impatiently.
"But if it's not wrong, then why don't you do it? Meat is good for you." Kono picked up a jeweled necklace.
"I don't - " she sighed. "I don't know how to explain human psychology. I just don't like it. I'm not condemning anyone who does. I just don't."
"Hmm… humans are confusing." Kono muttered, letting the necklace fall from his hand.
Gemini snorted. "You think that now? Try living with them."
"I don't think that would end well. Remember the whole… dragon thing. Can't stay fully human for more than a couple days."
"No, it's - it's sarcasm - am I going to have to explain everything to you? This is going to get really frustrating," she said, putting her head in her hands.
"I don't 'get out much' as you said earlier. I'm not great at conversation." Kono sighed softly to himself.
"You're not as bad as some people, despite being completely clueless," she assured him.
"Mm… how do you mean?" Kono kept fidgeting with various bits of treasure.
(How do you explain that little hiss through your teeth when you're like "yikes?")
"Some people don't understand how to be decent human beings," she said, choosing her words carefully.
(Gemini inhaled sharply through her teeth, Kono's cluelessness a bit painful to experience)
"Well, I'm no expert on human decency… I have a feeling I've only met humans who aren't 'decent'."
(👌👌👌👌 )
"Why thank you, good sir, I feel so validated," she replied sarcastically.
Kono sighed. "Except for you. You humans and validation… what do you care what some random dragon shifter thinks of you, anyway?"
"I. Don't. KNOW. Trust me, if it was an option to not care about anyone else's opinion, I would take it. But that's not how the human brain works," she told him plainly.
"Why don't you just lie to yourself until it feels true?" Kono said entirely seriously. "If I can do that, you can."
