Lucifer sighed. "You are beyond great, darling." She said, kissing his head lightly.
Lucifer sighed. "You are beyond great, darling." She said, kissing his head lightly.
"How do you know? We met like, yesterday or something…" Nathaniel curled in on himself a bit more and sighed, wrapping his wings around his trembling form.
"Because, I can just tell." Lucifer smiled.
Nathaniel fidgeted with the tips of his wings, still struggling to stop himself from crying. "They were right to kick me out… it's all my f-fault…"
(Nathaniel is bby)
(Ikr-)
Lucifer froze. "How is it your fault?" She ran her fingers through his hair, sighing softly.
"W-Well, when they sent me out into battle the f— f-first time, I got really scared, and— and m-my brother had to protect me— and they k-killed him…" Nathaniel sobbed weakly. "And… and I was f-flying too low, and a person saw me, and he shot my wing…" He glanced back at the bullet wound in the joint of his left wing. "A-And I fell on them and then they got too hurt for the doctors to— f-fix them…"
Lucifer shook her head. "Then, it wasn't your fault. It was an accident." She said, hugging him to her chest, humming a soft, soothing tune. "I promise you."
"B-But I shouldn't have froze up like that, and… a-and I shouldn't have been flying that low…" Nathaniel hiccuped weakly and closed his eyes, just letting Lucifer hold onto him.
Lucifer sighed. "You didn't know." She muttered, humming.
"Y-Yeah, but still… It's my fault I got hurt because I was negligent, and it's my fault that Lloyd died b-because I was weak…" Nathaniel gripped himself more tightly, shaking harder in Lucifer's arms.
Lucifer sighed. "Calm down…" She muttered, laying down and rubbing his back softly, running her fingers though his hair, humming a soothing tune.
Nathaniel choked on his sobs, coughing a bit as he tried to calm himself down. "I-I'm sorry… I'm so s— s-sorry…"
"It's okay… Its okay to cry, love… Let it all out." She said, feeling one tear roll down her cheek. She felt so… sorry for this boy. She hummed the same tune, rubbing his back, hoping it would calm the young boy down.
Nathaniel cried softly into Lucifer's chest, still shaking like a leaf. "Y-You shouldn't have to deal with me, m-miss… I'm… I-I'm pathetic, and… I deserve to be— alone…"
Lucifer shook her head. "You are not near those things. You are precious, priceless, and wonderful.
"M'not…" Nathaniel whispered weakly in reply. He was getting too tired to argue, and too worked up to be able to speak very coherently.
Lucifer shook her head. "I'm speaking the truth." She muttered, running her fingers through his hair, sighing lightly.
Nathaniel whimpered softly and leaned into Lucifer's hand. "B-But you don't— know me… and I just… t-they wouldn't have kicked me out if I didn't deserve it, right?"
"They're mean people." She hissed. "I promise you."
Nathaniel rubbed at his eyes again, smudging the dust on his face. "But they're… they're good… t-they're supposed to be good, anyway…"
"They want to be perfect, hun."
"And they're… they're all strong and good, and I'm weak… they don't need somebody like me up there."
"They're just jealous." She hummed.
"Of what? I'm broken and I'm bad and I'm too small and I'm not good enough for them… I don't have anything to be jealous of."
