He frowned heavily, looking out the window. "You said that magic isn't liked out here, right?"
He frowned heavily, looking out the window. "You said that magic isn't liked out here, right?"
Tessa frowned as well, furrowing her brow slightly. "Yeah, why?"
(I officially hate Yahtzee with a burning passion)
"That doesn't make much sense," he said, turning back to her. "Considering that there's a huge mob of demons about two blocks down the road."
She blinked. She blinked again. "Ehh… wait, what?"
"One block, now," he said, turning back towards the window. "Wonder what they're doing."
Tessa groaned and got up. "Not again!" she wined.
He tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"Just come on–unless you don't want to get your paws dirty again." Without another word, Tessa ran out of the building and into the street. Screams could be heard now.
Runner, true true his name, ran after her, stopping in his tracks as the mob of at least 100 minor demons came around the bend in the direction they were running. It was a huge mass of horns, red coloring, and horrific screams.
'Oh, shit," he said, stopping in his tracks.
"I'll hold them off and keep them away from the citizens," she ordered, stepping into the middle of the road–directly in the path of the rampaging demons. "You go and see if this is all of them."
(He's gonna show is dragon side now)
"Gotcha," he said, closing his eyes. Suddenly, the air around him seemed to ripple, like water when someone throws a pebble into it. And out of the center of the ripple came a roaring Chinese dragon, twisting and turning through the air with the grace of a ballet dancer. It speed was unbelievable as it zoomed over the heads of the horde, its 23 foot long body still seeming small in comparison to the mass of demons below him.
Tessa didn't waste time with surprise. She threw her arms to the side, lighting them ablaze and hurtling rivers of fire towards the edges of the road. People screamed and fled the licking flames, just as she intended. She took a step back, as if bracing herself, and brought her arms in front of herself with a force that shouldn't have been necessary. The flames followed her movements and crested over her, crashing into the horde as it neared like a flaming ocean. Demons screamed and turned to ashes. Others charged for her stupidly, ending up as cinders as well. She was now surrounded by a torrent of fire, her jaw set in concentration.
A chain was thrown from the middle of the horde, looping around his neck and yanking him down with aggression. Runner roared in response, thrashing wildly to try to escape the grip to no avail. They were slowly but surely pulling him down into their reach, and he knew shit would go south even quicker when he got there.
She gritted her teeth when she saw Runner being pulled down. She wouldn't be able to keep up this assault for long. But she also couldn't just shut it down completely, leaving the New Yorkers at the mercy of the demons. C'mon… C'mon… think…
He shouted as they finally pulled him down, their hands burning against his scales. He twisted and turned and bit and clawed, but there were so many that he couldn't break free. He was completely at their mercy, and they didn't have much.
(Now would be a good time for Rhianon to hop in, imao)
(I was planning on it, along with a demon queen)
A loud roar echoed through the streets. A heavily cloaked woman appeared above the horde, holding a staff with swirling purplish-black magic. Tessa tensed up at the sound of the roar. She didn't yet see the woman up above.
The demons scattered as a woman charged through the horde, her face showing that she was piiiisssed. Her dark obsidian skin was like polished marble, and her ruby red eyes were bright with life and youth. She had shiny black hair that was a sheet of silk flowing in the wind behind her. Her snarl was full of bright white, fanged teeth. Her slim body was unblemished and meaty like that of a young, healthy woman–complemented by her form-fitting silver dress that shimmered with every move she made. She was beautiful in the way that a king cobra was beautiful–or a queen cobra in this case. Four pairs of spider legs jutted out from her back and propelled her through the other demons, the sharp and jagged points digging into the road as if it were butter.
The demons that held Runner immediately dropped him in fear as they sprinted away from the approaching figure. Runner let out a cough, rising to his feet and shaking off the chain wrapped tightly around his neck.
"Arachne!" Tessa snarled. "Keep your pests out of Earth for once!" The spider demoness growled at Tessa.
The woman hovering above flicked her fingers, and the magic swirling around her shot towards the horde, decimating all of them with one blow.
Runner growled, slowly backing away from the demon queen as she did her work. He had no clue what was going on, so anyone but Tess was an enemy to him.
The spider demoness put her spindly fingers on her slim hips, looking around with her eight eyes. "I believe you got them all, Rhianon."
Runner tilted his head in confusion, his maw open slightly as he tried to process the name he just heard. "Rhianon?" he repeated. Who this person was felt like it was right on the tip of his tongue, something he should remember, but didn't.
The woman disappeared, then reappeared next to the spider demoness. The woman's heavy hood hid everything but her chin and thin lips–and the finely pointed teeth that slightly poked out of said lips. What little skin could be seen was ashen gray, with whorls of black ink over it in indecipherable patterns.
"Who are you?" Runner asked, his body curling up close like a spring. "Why do you seem so familiar?"
The woman cocked her head to the side, studying Runner from beneath her hood. She could see through it, though others couldn't. Similar to that of the Oracle's typical garb, if you really thought about it. "Who I am matters not. But who you are… Well, that's an entirely different and much more important matter we need to discuss." She turned towards the demon queen, who was poking at some of the carcasses with her spider legs. "Arachne, would you be so kind as to give us safe passage to your Queendom?"
"Wait wait wait wait," Tessa interrupted, stepping over to both of the strange women. "Time out. You," she pointed at the cloaked woman, "aren't taking me anywhere until you tell me who the hell you are. And you" she turned her glare onto Arachne, "aren't taking me to that hellhole without a reasonable explanation to what the fuck just happened."
