(Can Runner still be fast as shit like before?)
(Can Runner still be fast as shit like before?)
((yeah, Tess will be a little faster thanks to her smaller body, but still not as fast and agile as Runner))
Runner let loose another roar and made his body as straight as an arrow, launching himself straight for Tess. Right before he reached the Sun dragon, he veered hard to the right and took off towards the ocean, pushing his body as fast as it would go.
The dragon snarled and snapped at Runner, only to bite air. She cried out in anger and whirled around towards where her opponent had gone. Only anger and violence drove her as she took off after Runner, and the being controlling that anger was happy to sit back and watch the show.
That thing is so fucking dead, Runner thought to himself as he flew out farther and farther into the ocean. He had no clue how to beat Tess at the moment, but he couldn't fight her so close to a populated island. The casualties could've been catastrophic.
Tessa's conscience had been pushed too far back, at least the parts of her that she regained after spending three years in healthy freedom in the company of those seeking to help her. Only the savage remnants of her past remained—the parts of her that had fought to keep her alive, even when her life was miserable. Theresa had been cold and heartless, thrilled with the hunt and delighted by the prospect of showing off her power over those believed to be better than her. The chase is what she lived for.
The dragon flew as fast as she could, snapping at Runner's tail and bearing her teeth. Her throat steadily heated up, readying to fire on Runner once the chance arose.
Runner's speed increased even more as he felt the heat on his tail. What am I gonna do, what am I gonna do…..? His mind when completely blank. Right now, the plan was to keep her interested in the chase and nothing else.
The dragon snarled in frustration when her prey sped up. She snorted some steam at him in Tessa's typical form of retaliation, then glanced up at the clouds. Without any indication of what she was planning, the dragon gave a mighty flap of her wings and rocketed upwards into the dark clouds.
Shit. He slowed down and studied the sky, his body reared up in the air like a huge cobra flying through the sky. What is she gonna do…?
Now in cover, the dragon steadily glided through the clouds, head down and searching for the slippery enemy. She would have the element of surprise up here, even with her golden scales. The dark clouds made the already dull color even duller, mostly hiding her from view. Now just for him to get in the perfect spot for her to pounce…
This isn't good. I'm a sitting duck. Without hesitation, Runner dove headfirst into the water, his thin body winding through the water like an eel. This is where he had the true advantage: the dragon's natural habitat.
The Sun dragon happened to see the tail end of Runner's dragon winding into the ocean, and she roared in unchecked fury. Sun dragons were naturally hateful of water, and that was clear when she dived down and flared her wings right before she touched the water, gliding over it with a permanent sneer.
I've bought myself more time, Runner thought as he followed the Sun dragon's path from under the water, a plan slowly forming in his head.
The dragon skimmed over the water, swerving back and forth as she kept an eye on the other dragon's progress behind her. She snorted angrily, fed up with her enemy's antics.
Runner's slim form jolted up from the water at a blinding speed, reaching Tess before she even knew that he had left the water. In a flash, he twisted his rope-like body around the midsecton of the sun dragon, pinning its wings to its body and sending them both crashing into the water.
The dragon thrashed in a panic, the fire in her throat instantly dying out. Her wings were pinned to her body, but they would've been useless anyway in the water. They were too big and bulky to be of much use. Still in a slight panic, the dragon snapped its jaws wildly in an attempt to grab hold of something.
Runner let out a roar when he felt teeth clamp down into his body, but he stayed firm as they sunk further and further into he ocean.
Just pass out already, he mentally willed Tess, tihtening his hold a bit more.
Stubborn as always, the dragon thrashed and snapped some more before blacking out. But—right before she did so, her eyes locked onto Runner's and glinted with a brief flash of gratitude before rolling back, her body going limp.
Runner uncurled himself from Tess's body and dragged her to the surface. He could feel his energy waning as he pushed her body to the shore, and collapsed into his human form as soon as he felt sand under his feet.
"Fuck, Tess," he mumbled to himself, lifting his shirt to expose 8 puncture wounds in his stomach, "Couldn't have gone easy on me?"
(What if Agdrin shows up after Runner puts out the fire and tries to recruit him?)
((That would be an interesting event))
Now that she was incapacitated, Tessa had a mental battle with the creature possessing her. She was angry as usual, but this time the anger was directed towards the person who brought out the parts of her that she so desperately tried suppressing—and made her hurt Runner. She raked mental claws down the creature, pushing back with all her might.
On the outside, the dragon didn't stir. She breathed steadily, albeit a little heavily. Her head was half-buried in the sand, and one of her wings was pinned beneath her body.
Runner walked over to the dragon and put his ear to its chest. Needless to say, he was incredibly relieved to find her breathing.
"Okay….how am I gonna get this fire out…?"
Eventually, he settled on tossing a shitload of sand into it until it out.
"You will not beat my lord!" the demon shouted, "he will prevail, and the world will burn!"
Tessa backed off of the demon, knowing that her fighting it wasn't going to do anything. She would have to rely on Runner for the time being.
A crack of lightning cut through the sky right after the fire went out, and once the flash receded, a horrible mix between creature and man stood before Runner, hands folded behind his back. "Listen to the little demon, boy, and you'll see that the words ring true."
Runner looked up at the figure in from of him, frowning slightly in confusion. "That entrance seemed a bit over the top."
Agdrin didn't need any introduction. Runner could tell it was who his mom was talking about from the power he radiated alone.
Agdrin crossed his arms over his chest and glared down at the boy before him. "The power of chaos is no laughing matter, boy. I'm aware of who you are, and I'm here for a one-time offer. The power in your veins has great potential, and I'm offering to teach you how to wield it. That sorry excuse of a teacher," he jerked his chin at the unconscious dragon, "has no idea how much potential you have. Only I can truly show you what it means to be powerful."
Runner let the words sink in for a moment, then pulled a face like he smelt something bad. "And what persuaded you to do this? You wasted the time to plant that fucker," he gestured to the pile of smoldering logs, "Just to come and try to win me over? Are you that scared?"
