"It's fine," he said, pulling a face. "I get it." I really don't, but I'll have to.
"It's fine," he said, pulling a face. "I get it." I really don't, but I'll have to.
She sighed and pulled back. "Doubt it. I don't even get it."
"Well…." he scratched the back of his head. "What now?"
She shrugged. "Probably wait until the others get here."
He hesitated for one more awkward moment, then headed back for the house. At least we can have conversations, now.
Drax was preening his obsidian feathers once again. "That went well."
He nodded. "Somewhat, yeah. Could've gone better."
"Worry not. The Alaunians like playing matchmaker, as they have nothing better to do with their lives."
"Oh, god," he said, facepalming. "This is awkward enough as it is."
Drax made a sound similar to that of a snicker.
He raised an eyebrow at Drax. "Hm?"
"Nothing," he said innocently, then glided to the kitchen in search of food–mainly chicken.
He sat down on the couch and tried to just space out everything going on, to no avail.
(Power's out—yayy. Now time to wait 10 hours for someone to fix it)
"You have hands. Mind grabbing that chicken in the freezer and thawing it out for me?"
He let out a groan, but nodded, getting up to his feet with a jerk. "Yeah, sure."
"Thank you," Drax said, flapping away from the freezer door and perching on top of the refrigerator.
Runner lifted his left eye up at the bird as he opened the fridge. "Hungry, I take it?"
"Traveling between realms is tiring work," the bird defended. "And I always get a slice of chicken whenever I deliver a message."
"Well, here's payment for your travels," he said, pulling out the packaging the chicken was in.
"Delicious." He fluttered down and grabbed the frozen package, then set it on a counter and sat next to it, waiting for it to thaw out enough for him to eat it.
"I'm gonna go lay down and wallow some more," he said, nodding at Drax as he walked back towards the couch.
"You do that."
Tessa was still thinking about what had happened between her and Runner. She was sitting in the middle of the training ring, cursing herself out for being a selfish bitch.
He fell face-first like he was full of bricks and let out a groan. How am I supposed to get through to her? he thought to himself.
Tessa sighed and dug her nails into her scalp. We need to be able to be on speaking terms if we're to do this without distraction. She glanced over to the house as if she could see Runner through the walls.
I guess I just have to push my feelings aside. This is bigger than either of our feelings. Runner pushed off of the couch with a sigh, heading towards the door with his heart in his shoes.
