"Oh, you gotta be fucking kidding me," Tessa grumbled. She reached the beach and dropped the guy, flapping her wings a few more times as she stood at attention. If she had movable ears, they'd be swiveling all over the place right now. Instead, her head was turning this way and that way, listening carefully.
He stumbled as she randomly dropped him, putting his hands out to keep his face from greeting the ground at high speed.
"To the West," he said helpfully, pushing himself up to his feet. "'Bout 200 meters out."
"Okay," she started, turning in that direction. "The walking magic detector stays here while I deal with it," she told him, checking to make sure her face mask was properly sealed against her skin.
Runner shook his head. "Nope, I'm coming with. You might need me."
He pulled the soaked sleeves on his hoodie up past his elbows to keep them out of the way.
(Should this ogre be able to cast spells, or no?)
(Yeah, let's give it a power-up from normal ogres. A high-class ogre?)
She sighed, not having the energy to argue with him. "Fine, but you'll need to have something to protect yourself with." She fished through her many pockets and grabbed a handful of small but extremely destructive explosives. "Just chuck these at the thing and let me do the rest." She handed him the small metal balls.
He looked down at the things with a scrunched up face. "No, I'm good," he said finally, handing them back to her. "I don't need them."
"Okay, let me rephrase that. You're going to chuck these things at the thing so that I can blow it up from multiple angles." She narrowed her eyes at the strange dude. She wasn't a fan of being told no.
"Let me repeat. No." He began handing a ball back with each word he said. "I. Don't. Need. Them."
(Could I stalk this as well?)
"My gods he's as stubborn as me," she muttered to herself as she violently shoved the explosives back in their pocket. "Fine. But if you get killed don't come crying to me. Let's go."
"Technically, I couldn't cr-" he was cut off by a random gust of wind that sent them both flying 20 feet back, setting them down hard on their backs.
"I forgot to mention," Runner grumbled with a wince, "That it was also a high ogre."
Tessa groaned and freed her wings from beneath her, the action causing sand to fly all over the place. "Convenient timing, Magic Detector," she grumbled as she got to her feet.
"I," he said, pausing as he stood up with her, "Have never claimed to be perfect."
The ogre roared at them, annoyed by the fact that they ignored it's giant 10 foot frame. It was dressed only in loincloth, and in its hands was a small oak tree stripped of most of its branches, presumably used as a staff. And….whhooo….that face was ugly even for a ogre.
"Sorry buddy, but not even a mother could love that face," Tessa said as she backed up, flicking her tail and making the spines on them poised to strike at a moment's notice. Her fingers turned to thick claws, golden scales running up her arms as armor.
The ogre was angered even more by the fact that he couldn't understand what they were saying, and pointed his staff out at them. BArely half a second passed before a huge jet of flame sprouted from it's tip and launched itself at the duo. Runner suddenly jumped in front of Tessa, his eyes shut tight. Then all they could hear was a hhhhhhuuuuuuah! It didn't take long for Tessa to realize the noise was Runner seeming to breath in the flames.
(Holy shit that is one hella ugly ogre)
"I'm fireproof, genius," Tessa muttered, stepping away from Runner and charging the ogre. Her wings flared, feigning a planned takeoff, as she flung a few of the explosives Runner had declined. As soon as they touched the ogre's skin, they exploded.
"It wasn't for you," Runner grunted, flames seeming to crawl from his mouth whenever he spoke.
The ogre stumbled back, swatting at Tess blindly with his staff as he covered his face with his free arm.
Tessa deftly jumped back from the ogre's staff and threw some more explosives. She didn't seem to be using her magic for this fight.
(Do you want to prolong this fight or can Runner clappy clap and give Tess a reason to bring him back to Cin?)
(Feel free to have Runner do his thing, but I was actually thinking of keeping this on Earth–specifically, NYC)
(Are we gonna balance Runner at all, or is he still gonna be the big OP boi)
The ogre suddenly shouted in pain, ignoring Tess as is put its hands to its head. Something appeared to be trying to poke its way though the skin at the top of his skull, being fed by a steady stream of magic flowing from behind Tess. Soon, the skin gave way to a….small tree? Leaves sprouted from its rapidly growing branches as the ogre's eyes rolled to the back of its head and it collapsed, dead on the spot as the tree sucked out what was left of its life force. In moments, the entire 10 foot body was covered with vines and roots.
(hmmm, I'd say keep him as Rhianon's son, but balance it out with him being half human. If that's okay with you)
"That's actually really freaky," Tessa said, backing up slowly and keeping her distance from both the ogre and Runner. She didn't dismiss her dragon features just yet, still ready to fight if need be.
(Dope with me)
Runner blew on the pads of his fingers, wincing slightly. "Man, that hurt. I haven't used that much energy in a while." He seemed completely oblivious to the fact that Tess seemed somewhat terrified of him.
Tessa looked back and forth between the dead ogre and the strange boy before her. Ditch him or try and figure him out? Ditch or stay? Ditch or stay? She was honestly leaning more towards ditch. One less person to deal with.
