Axton gave her a slight nod, indicating he was talking to her. "Yes, you, who else is stopped for a conversation here?"
Axton gave her a slight nod, indicating he was talking to her. "Yes, you, who else is stopped for a conversation here?"
A pale blush of embarrassment dusted her cheeks as she took a few steps back towards him. "Um, yes. I was going home," she answered. Stupidly, she added, "Are you?"
Axton leaned against the wall, a slight smirk playing on his lips. "Please, girlie, you'd practically need to sell your soul to get home at this hour. Really, damn near impossible to get through."
She winced a little at the minor curse, but when she realized what he was saying (and that he was probably right), terror flashed through her bright eyes. "Sell my soul? It can't be that impossible…"
"Oh, it's actually quite simple." Axton said, trying to turn up the charm. "Tell me, what do you desire over all else in the world?" He asked, trying to ignore the tangle of guilt forming in his gut.
Trinity bit her lip, wrinkled her brows, and carefully considered the question. She was silent for so long among the chaos of the night, it almost seemed like she wouldn't answer him. Finally, her facial features relaxed, and she quietly said, "Freedom?" She looked confused as she phrased the word like question.
"Ya sure about that, girlie? Be specific now." He said smoothly, remembering with a tinge of bitterness how stupid he had been when he was in her place.
A burst of chills shot down her spine like a warning. But did she listen? Of course not. "Well… um… I'm not entirely sure."
"You're not sure about what you want?" He asked, a slightly teasing tone in his voice.
"No." Her face turned a deep pink. "Is that a bad thing?" She could feel her wings bristling under her dress and jacket.
"Oh, no, don't waste your soul on something stupid, girlie." Axton said, twirling a ring around his finger. "But know I'm always down here, and I happen to be in the business of making wildest dreams come true. For a price, of course."
Trinity's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Making wildest dreams come true? How in the heavens do you do that?"
Heavens? Oh, she's adorable.
"Let's just say I have friends in very low places." Axton said, smiling slightly. "Shitty friends, but powerful ones." Not really "friends" either. Bosses who could destroy me, really.
She twitched a little at the curse, but it wasn't as bad as her previous reactions. "Why would you want friends like that?"
"Never said I wanted them." He said casually, picking at his nails. "Just that I have them."
"You just have them," she repeated, trying to understand why someone would keep friends if they didn't want them. "But what could they do to make someone's wildest dreams come true?"
"We all have abilities… outside the realm of yours." He said slowly, running a hand through his hair.
She paled slightly. Outside the realm of hers… He couldn't tell she was an angel, could he? "A-Abilities?" she stammered, trying in vain to hide the waver in her voice. "What do you mean?"
"Hey, I'm basically just the salesman." He said, holding up his hands. "I only got the basics. I'm just here to seal the deal, girlie."
"What deal?" Trinity began to get a little annoyed. "You still haven't told me any deal!"
"You haven't told me the specifics of what you want, girlie."
"Well I don't know what I want!" she cried. People turned to stare at her, and she quickly clapped her hands over her lips and blushed with embarrassment.
"And that's why I haven't told you the deal." Axton said cooly. "I ain't giving you something you ain't sure about. It's gotta be worth your soul, girlie, you get one shot."
The little angel took a deep breath and calmed herself. Slowly, her hands fell back to her sides. "I'm not sure what my soul is worth," she murmured thoughtfully.
"Oh, girlie, no one ever is." He said, shaking his head. I thought mine was worth talent and an early death.
