Jane spotted a familiar shop and hurried toward it with a smile on her face. She pushed open the door and pulled John in as well. "Phillip!"
"Miss Jane! Such a pleasant surprise!"
"It isn't Miss, anymore," she said proudly, eyes shining happily as she looked up at her husband.

Phillip's eyes widened and he came around the counter towards them. "You're pregnant?" he asked faintly.
Jane laughed at John. "It's my secret." To Phillip, she said, "Yes. I've been."
"It's been too long, then," he said meaningfully. "You need to visit here more often!"

John rubbed a hand along his wife's back. "Have I met you before, or has war fractured my memory?" John asked Phillip with a cordial smile.

Jane smiled, a shy blush growing on her cheeks. "John, this is my old friend, remember?"
