"Jane?" John spoke softly, a few feet away. "I'm sorry I lashed out at you.."
"Jane?" John spoke softly, a few feet away. "I'm sorry I lashed out at you.."
The sound of his voice brought her back. Her eyes opened and she stood up quickly, rushing to embrace him. "John… don't be sorry, it was the right thing to do."
John curled his arms around her, butied his face into her shoulder. "Simcoe is a scary man," he agreed quietly, to try and make her feel better about her reaction.
"Still, I shouldn't have. I'm sorry," she apologized.
John brushed her hair with his hand, "I forgive you."

(To when?)
“I like being the first. Numero un,” he replied vaguely.
Marius laughed lightly, "Conceited much?" He teased the Frenchman.
“What can I say?” he chuckled.

(O.O)
Jane straightened his coat. "Are you ready?" she asked, glowing with pride for her husband.
He inhaled slowly, "ready and nervous," he spoke, looking down at the status symbol medal glittering over his heart. "i'll be working directly with Clinton. It's exhilerating," an excited grin stretched John's lips.

"I'm proud of you," she said softly, cupping his face. The memories that had nearly drowned her the night of his promotion were gone and replaced with butterflies.

John's gaze softened, "Promise you'll stay safe. And that you'll letter me at the first twinge of unsureness. And keep me obsessively updated regarding our child, yes..?"
She smiled and kissed him softly. "Of course. I promise."
He kissed her forehead after, "I know the quartering act is taking effect. Please let me know about whom boards in our house, and your thoughts, please." John stroked her cheek.
"Alright," she said quietly.
(Oh my God… is it going to be Simcoe?! You wouldn't do that…)
😉😉😉😉😉 )
Oh my sweet summer child. You underestimate me )
He kissed her one more time. "My carriage is waiting for me.."
(NO! DON'T YOU DARE – NO!)
"Some home safely," she whispered.

"I always do," her husband replied lovingly.
And then he was gone.
