“Yeah, thanks.” Avería turned and left the house.
“Yeah, thanks.” Avería turned and left the house.
"Is she always that…rude?" Glisten asked bluntly as she was showing Giselle out.
"I know it's hard to believe, but the world isn't as it used to be. Things have changed."
"Yes, I understand that," Glisten huffed as Giselle unfolded her wings.
Avería flew in place a few meters away from the door, arms crossed, “Come on then.”
Giselle flew out. "Goodbye Glisten." Glisten waved before subtly glaring at Averia and closing the door. "We need a shortcut to Blue Lagoon. I know the perfect one."
"Great. Lead the way then and get lets this over with quickly." Averia said, sighing.
"Oh, no no. It's not that type of shortcut," Giselle laughed lightly. She put her hands together in a shape and then thrust them forwards. A portal appeared, and a dull Blue Lagoon could be seen on the other side with a few mermaids dotted in it.
"Right, magic of course." Averia flew through the portal, her black wings fluttering her through easily and quickly.
Giselle flew through the portal and then closed it. "I believe I have met Prince Agil before. At a…fairy and mermaid gala. It's been a while. We were still quite young."
"Good for you," Averia muttered, running a hand through her hair, "Where would we find him?"
Giselle scanned the crowd of mermaids. "Over there. I think I see him."
Averia glanced over to a small rock pool in the corner where the merman was sitting, "Guess that's him then."
Giselle flew over. "Prince Agil? I am Princess Giselle, of the Mariposas."
The merman looked up from his spot, his brown hair waving in the slight breeze, "Princess, it is so nice to see you after all these years."
"Oh, I didn't expect you to recognise me," Giselle laughed softly.
"Of course. I always remember a pretty face," Agil smiled. Giselle didn't react - she wasn't interested.
"Listen, we need to get to the Depths of Despair."
"And we need to get there quickly." Averia added, crossing her arms.
"I would be glad to help. But you can't get there with those," Agil said, gesturing to their wings.
"Of course," Giselle replied. "But…uh…how…"
"Wait… I have to get rid of my wings? Nope, not happening." Averia shook her head.
"No, not get rid of them," Agil reassured. "You simply trade them for a tail, then when you reach the surface again they trade back."
Averia looked over her shoulder to her wings then back to the prince, "Okay… how do we get… tails?"
"It's a spell. But it can only be shared with the members of any royal family in Fairytopia."
"Of course. Great, that's just perfect isn't it." Averia groaned.
"Sorry, but it's Fairytopia lore," Agil explained. He turned and said something into Giselle's ear.
Averia's wings fluttered in irritation and she crossed her arms with a huff. How she wished she could magic him into none existence but then she'd give herself away…
Giselle whispered the spell, and she dived in the water as she and Averia were both enveloped in a bright light.
Averia dived shortly after Giselle and as the light disappeared, she looked down to see a black, shimmering tail and no wings.
